Newer home custom constructed in 2007, completed in 2012. We have discounted shoulder season rates for fall , winter and spring. This house has an awesome kitchen and open entertainment area.
The home's style is comtemporary with beach accents . YET NOT STUFFY or Mausoleum like ! How about cool, and bring the kids and the pets! Just no Newfoundlands, aka large dogs! Seriously bring the parents, kids, pets, neighbors, best friends and spread out! We have plenty I mean plenty of room for your amazing get away. Pricing, nowhere, nowhere can you get this kind of home for the price and split the ticket with your friends. Single rooms in Rehoboth near the beach are 200-299, 399 for the Boardwalk. You get our place and can cook your meals and enjoy the serenity ! No traffic, no crowded beaches! Kick back with a glass of wine and escape...
It is a bay beach and that means at low tide sometimes the water can be brackish you will have to wait until high tide to swim or walk 300 yards south where the jetty doesn't affect the shore. IF you're lucky there might be some winds that pick up and you can enjoy the white caps and watch the kids boogie board. Surfing probably if your starting out might happen with the tides changing. But this beach is perfect for little kids the surf is predictable unless there's a storm brewing...you can basically sit and watch the kids comb the beach for treasures. Launch a jet ski, kayak, canoe, paddle board off the front yard and no worries about strong currents and little kids.
Please have an appreciation for horseshoe crabs as they tend to wash up after hi tide, and all the other amazing critters you will find.... kids will love it!
The house has basic cable plus wireless.
The house has 4 bedrooms and a den that can be used as a sleep area. 3 full baths , 2 with jet tubs, an outside shower and a 1/2 bath . Gas grill, views, views, views, memories, memories! You will love it here! Thank you to the families that continue to refer and rebook!
My family stayed here for 5 days/4 nights. The house was exactly as described. The kitchen is huge, the view of the water is amazing. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend this house for rental.
Great home, amazing views and a wonderful homeowner! The home was well maintained and beautifully decorated with a soothing 'beach theme' - it had everything we needed to make our time away easy and relaxing. The fabulous kitchen was well equipped with all the needs of a home-away-from-home chef. Windows everywhere made waking up to the beautiful bay views a real treat. We enjoyed walks on the shore with our two dogs - just steps from the home, day trips to Rehoboth Beach and dining at the local restaurants (Blackwell Hitch-EXCELLENT! 208 Social-DELISH! & Dogfishhead-GREAT!). We even had the opportunity to visit the Dogfishhead Brewery Tour in Milford - what a great experience that included beer tasting, food truck lunch and a tour of the grand facility.
The homeowner, Kimberly, was a pleasure to work with and TRULY cared that we were enjoying our stay at her beach home. Thank you, Kimberly, for making our get-a-way memorable & COMFORTABLE! We are already planning our next visits.
My husband, 3 year old daughter, puggle and myself all enjoyed this house. It was perfect for a low key beach getaway.
The house was well-equipped. The kitchen is just as fantastic as the pictures make it out to be. We used the room off the main living space as a separate playroom. The house is close to town with multiple grocery options. We make the short trip to Rehoboth one day and while it's nice for the boardwalk and some restaurants, I was so happy we stayed in Slaughter Beach away from the crowds and commotion. As mentioned in the other posts, low tide does present some problems but there is a very nice beach less than a 3 minute drive down the coast (it's easily walk-able without a 3 year old). There were times we were the only ones there.
I would absolutely recommend renting this home!
This was our first time renting this home, and it was everything that we could have hoped for and then some. My family, 13 of us, used every inch of the home and amenities, every single day. We searched for seaglass in early mornings, rescued horseshoe crabs along the shoreline, sat on the beach with the little kids boogie boarding and having so much fun. The guys kayaked and fished every day as well as crabbing. We made fires on the beach at night and just relaxed as a family. We cooked all the meals at home and everything was wonderful! We watched beautiful sunsets and we are so sad to be going home. Everything that you could need for a wonderful vacation is provided. Kim was so awesome to rent from. We communicated once checking in and with any questions hat I had along the journey! Thanks Kim!!!
This was a perfect get-a-way for my husband, myself and our two dogs. The home was modern, well maintained and beautifully decorated. We love to cook and truly appreciated the state of the art kitchen appliances!
Having the bay right outside the backdoor was wonderful. The views at sunrise and sunset were beautiful. We enjoyed all of the shore birds, diamondback terrapin turtles, fox, and especially the spawning horseshoe crabs - an amazing experience. There were many great restaurants, markets/grocery stores and shopping outlets.
Kimberly, the homeowner, was a pleasure to work with. She made the reservation process a smooth experience and even txt'd us see how our first day was and if we needed anything. We are looking forward to many more vacations at Kimberly's great home! Thank you Kimberly - we appreciate all you did to make our vacation a one-of-a-kind!
We'll be back, Jerry & Tara
This is a very nicely furnished modern spacious home on a very quiet stretch of the bay. It is well appointed and reasonably close (10 minutes) to groceries and a few fair restaurants in Milford. This is unlike Southern Delaware; there are no shore/boardwalk type of areas to distract the kids. You must make your own fun. On the other hand, the views are lovely, and it is situated in a nature area. Lots of interesting birds and marshy vistas. Like all homes on Slaughter beach, the house is elevated a flight above the water. Entry requires climbing a full flight of stairs to the 1st floor bedrooms, with another full flight to the kitchen/greatroom. Lots and lots of space here for large groups. We would rent again, and may well do so... Thanks!
Our home is located in a serene ,pristine, protected marine estuary. You will be surrounded by all kinds of critters and will witness nature from any of our large decks or beachfront yard.
Google the history of Slaughter Beach and you will find lots of history here! The town was founded in 1681 and incorporated in 1931. Slaughter Beach used to be a bustling little get away for Wilmington and Philadelphia. Once upon a time SB had a grocery store, hotel, and even a boardwalk where passengers were dropped off from all over. A really bad storm took that away but a few folks can still talk about the good ole days. Google Fort Saulsbury and you will learn about Slaughter Beaches contributions to both WWI, and WWII! There is a bunker in the back bay now taken over by a goat, boar farm! Did you know that Delaware bays' harbor 1000's of shipwrecks? There were plenty of pirates, Spanish fleets, Irish passenger and Cargo ships trying to make it to the largest Port of Call once upon a time, Philadephia! There are presumably over 200 shipwrecks near or in front of Slaughter Beach! Bring your metal detector you might get lucky. AaaRRRR! Philadelphia and Wilmington were very popular targets during the industrial period, and Germany wanted to destroy them! Slaughter beach was on the way .You can also google the history of my alternate favorite place, Lewes Del, about 19 miles south of Slaughter Beach. You and the kids CAN enter those lookout towers and see cannons, big guns, and the paths where ordinances may still be buried. Very cool!
If you enjoy nature this place is magical. You will find on your exploration :horseshoe crabs, diamond back terrapins, porpoises, Heron, seals, shorebirds, snowy egrets, seagulls, Bald Eagles, red fox, and white tail deer to name a few.
If your a bird watcher: stilts, bobwhite, dowitchers, skimmer shenanigans, wave runners, wood-warblers, black skimmers, sandpipers, swallows, purple martins, and the list goes on. It is a protected bay/marine estuary.
The Dupont Nature Center is one street over, it's a short walk or bike ride. Both parents and kids will love the tour, and pick up some fresh fish from the fish market. You can also launch your boat from the Marina free of charge. Crab from the backyard, fish off the docks, or surf fish from the front yard of our house.
If you like to bike Bay Ave is on the scenic bay trail and you will be joined by many bikers enjoying the trail. It's a perfect ride or walk to connect with Nature. Kayak , sail, paddle board from the front yard. Swimming at high tide and boogie boarding and waterplay are available from 30 steps.
Have a nightly bonfire, walk your dog, and enjoy an adult beverage without permits and restrictions. No parking passes required!
Slaughter Beach minimart is a short bike ride, or long walk, under 2 miles away. They have snacks, some groceries, sunscreen, bait and tackle and rent paddle boards!
We have caught blue crab from our kayaks 50 feet off shore, and flounder off the beach. If you are lucky enough to book this rental for July 4th weekend be sure to attend the sailing regatta there is a lot of fun to be had!
Slaughter Beach pavilion is located 2 miles south next to the fire hall if you want to encounter more people.
We like our serene quiet beach that's blocked off from tourism.
Should you want to venture out for hustle and bustle , the Tanger/Rehoboth Outlets are 22 miles south and there are several waterparks, a boardwalk , and fabulous dining. Tax free shopping in Delaware!
My favorite alternate is Lewes and Cape Henlopen Park with the kids. I mentiond earlier the bunkers and look out towers, be sure to visit the last operated coast guard station, Henlopen Station that manned the waters by actually rowing! Look up Captain Jones...he was my great grandfather!
While in Lewes be sure to take the kids to Lewes Pirate Expeditions they will love it! Make a reservation early and watch the kids take on a pirate and a treasure hunt at sea! Be sure to stop at the Zwaanendaal Museum and ask them directions to the house that still has a cannon ball lodged in the foundation..Circa.. pirate days!
Locally 4 miles away is the historic town of Milford Delaware with many shops, restaurants, antique malls, a very large new library, chain supermarkets, walmart, art studios, bakerys 'La Dolce', parks, fitness centers, there is also a hospital etc..
Every Saturday beginning at 8 am there is a farmers market on canal street with fresh produce arts and crafts, usually kid activities every Saturday. Try the new micro brewery tasting room off airport road, Misipillion Brewery!
NASCAR fans are welcome! Dover Downs and Casino is 28 miles north of us and visit the Sunday brunch if it's rainy! Harrington Casino is only 12 miles and 'Bones' another good choice.
If your really into history take the kids to Frederica and visit the start of the Underground railroad! And the Mason-Dixon Line. We are surrounded by rich history and NATURE!
