About the property

Nicest Home in Slaughter Beach Available year round endless amenities

Newer home custom constructed in 2007, completed in 2012. We have discounted shoulder season rates for fall , winter and spring. This house has an awesome kitchen and open entertainment area.

The home's style is comtemporary with beach accents . YET NOT STUFFY or Mausoleum like ! How about cool, and bring the kids and the pets! Just no Newfoundlands, aka large dogs! Seriously bring the parents, kids, pets, neighbors, best friends and spread out! We have plenty I mean plenty of room for your amazing get away. Pricing, nowhere, nowhere can you get this kind of home for the price and split the ticket with your friends. Single rooms in Rehoboth near the beach are 200-299, 399 for the Boardwalk. You get our place and can cook your meals and enjoy the serenity ! No traffic, no crowded beaches! Kick back with a glass of wine and escape...

It is a bay beach and that means at low tide sometimes the water can be brackish you will have to wait until high tide to swim or walk 300 yards south where the jetty doesn't affect the shore. IF you're lucky there might be some winds that pick up and you can enjoy the white caps and watch the kids boogie board. Surfing probably if your starting out might happen with the tides changing. But this beach is perfect for little kids the surf is predictable unless there's a storm brewing...you can basically sit and watch the kids comb the beach for treasures. Launch a jet ski, kayak, canoe, paddle board off the front yard and no worries about strong currents and little kids.

Please have an appreciation for horseshoe crabs as they tend to wash up after hi tide, and all the other amazing critters you will find.... kids will love it!

The house has basic cable plus wireless.

The house has 4 bedrooms and a den that can be used as a sleep area. 3 full baths , 2 with jet tubs, an outside shower and a 1/2 bath . Gas grill, views, views, views, memories, memories! You will love it here! Thank you to the families that continue to refer and rebook!

Lovely, large well-equipped house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the house Monday March 26 until Friday, March 31. It was twice as much room as we needed (me, my husband, our two daughters and a grandma), however, our teenage girls could really spread out and loved their rooms! It is a beautiful large, house and is very well-equipped with everything you'd need (plus nice decorations, artwork). Appreciated that we didn't have to bring towels, sheets, TP, laundry stuff, etc. The kitchen has it all and is spacious with good appliances too. The beach isn't a typical "nice" beach, however, we knew that when we rented the place. And was interesting to see all the horseshoe crabs. That said, the area around Slaughter Beach is beautiful in it's own way, with marshes, birds and wildlife -- and oh-so-quiet. We also took day trips to Cape May (from Lewes, via ferry -- plan ahead as you need to work around the ferry schedules), back to downtown Lewes another day (shout-out for a neat puzzle shop there), and Milford. Each day, we typically has one meal out, then cooked/ate in the rest of the time. We used the bikes, ping-pong table, and corn-hole set in the unfinished basement too -- nice to have all that available. One issue was that we had an elderly person with us so the two long sets of stairs were challenging (though again, not a show-stopper, just making folks aware). Wish they had an elevator! ;-) We ended up putting the grandmother on the top level, with her own gorgeous bathroom, and near the kitchen, which minimized stair use. (Note: the top level has only a sofa bed, which we supplemented with a futon mattress on top, from another room downstairs.) As someone noted in another review, the door handles are tricky; you have to pull the handles up then flip the lock. (Maybe worth adding to the house instructions?) The shared bathroom on the lower level did have some little ants, however, I'm sure the owners will take care of it (and it's that time of year).

It's a superb view from the top level, and we loved both the mornings and the sunsets. And looking at the ships far out in the bay was interesting. We also used the fireplace one particularly cool evening.

It totally fit the bill for a relaxing few days away from the hustle, bustle!

Famiy Birthday get a way in March

  • 5 of 5

This home was wonderful and the owner was very easy to work with. The neighborhood is quiet and the location of home was on the bay and you had the best sunrises. From the sofa you had nothing to block your views of the beautiful water. The sun kept the deck warm and sunny until early afternoon. There is a great beach to walk on with lots of nature. We were lucky enough to see red fox. The house was very warm and welcoming. The kitchen was wonderful which made the Great Room a wonderful place to hang out. We were lucky enough to have 4 sunny days before Tory. We will defineatey visit this home again.

Great house, great owner!

  • 5 of 5

The house itself is located on a nice and secluded street and is right on the water (maybe 150 ft to the beach). Inside, the house is georgeous. On the top floor it has a beautiful kitchen with high end appliances, a wonderful living room with a perfect view of the water and access to a deck - we were there in March so it was cold and windy so we didn’t get a chance to take advantage of that. Also on the top floor is a sitting room (I believe the couch turned into a bed if needed) with attach full bath, and a separate powder room. The next level down is where 4 bedrooms were located. Again, all beautiful and tastefully decorated. Also with deck access. The bottom level is the basement/garage that had a variety of “toys”, including bikes, kayaks, ping pong, darts, foosball, etc. Everything you could think of to make your stay enjoyable. The beach is not a swimming beach, not that we could in March anyway, but was wonderful to walk the dogs on, and interesting to see the hundreds (actually thousands) of horseshoe crab shells.

As for the owner, Kimberly was wonderful. We had rented the house starting 3/1 and our family members were coming from Florida, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Because of various circumstances it turned out none of us would arrive until midnight on 3/1. Kimberly immediately offered us late check out on our last day. Normal check out is 11AM but she said we could stay as long as we liked, and moved her cleaning person to clean the following day instead of normal check out day. Then she went beyond that and offered to let us stay an extra day, since we hadn’t been able to spend time there on our first day - we couldn’t, but the offer was pretty awesome. I had trouble with the deck door not locking and because it was so windy I was concerned about it blowing open so I texted her. She had someone there in under an hour (only to show me I wasn’t doing it right). I felt foolish and texted her my apology and she just made a joke of it. Later we decided to build a fire in the fireplace and I wanted to be sure I understood how the fireplace fan worked, so she called me to walk me through it. Especially nice because she was in Alaska!!! So, we can’t say enough nice things about the house itself, and about Kimberly. Awesome, wonderful, terrific! Rent this house, you will love it.

Peaceful tranquility.

  • 5 of 5

It’s really hard to make a connection with the pictures and reviews that you see to try and find a place to stay that will fill your needs. Yet from the moment we read the description for this home, looked through the pictures and read the reviews we were hooked. This was our first ever booking of a vacation home and it was amazing how well it went. With a family emergency that set us back a year, I thought we would never make it there. But Kimberly was amazingly helpful and allowed us to finally get our beach vacation. And it was worth the wait. The house is beautiful. The area is beautiful. And the bay is beautiful. The area is quiet and peaceful, no traffic, no crowds. There were barking dogs but those were ours. The beach isn’t far from the house and it also had a reserved feeling to it. No loud boats and not many people walking it. Just the sound of the waves and some birds on occasion. There is one deer there, never saw it but we would see it’s tracks on the beach. We stayed the first week of October and it was still very warm, still good beach weather. Though you do need to take bug spray for the beach. At certain times of the day there are hungry insects. Low tide was the best time for us to go out and play. Yes this is the bay and not the ocean, so you will have brackish water at low tide. We didn’t mind, there was still plenty of shells and odd stuff to collect on the beach. Make sure you read up on the horseshoe crabs. We were to late to see any live ones but the shells of dead ones are washed up on the beach. Did not realize they would get that big and they were neat to see. The house has plenty of room for large parties and the kitchen was wonderful. Looking at the pictures had us in awe but standing there in person was wow. The drawers are filled with everything you need to cook with. Lots of plates and silverware too. The stove I wanted to pack up and take home. Bedrooms are comfortable and not cluttered. Bathrooms were all unique in design and well thought out. The jet tub in the one bathroom is amazing to soak in. I recommend bringing scented Epsom salts, you will thank me! It was amazing coming up the stairs in the morning and seeing the bay through all those windows. Our two spoiled Boxers loved going out on the upper and lower decks and just smelling the breeze. The thing I will remember forever is sitting in the deck chairs, no lights, full moon over the bay and the sound of the water. You will not regret staying here!

Couldn’t have had an easier, more lovely time with the owner. She was accommodating and friendly!

  • 5 of 5

House is wonderful, plenty of room for ten of us. Location is great, remote enough to be quiet, but close enough to town for supplies. Warm and cozy, and the owner even set up a Christmas tree for us! Directions were easy to follow and we felt well taken care of. Will definitely be back when visiting family again!

Best Beach House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed from Nov 22nd to 26th for Thanksgiving Wknd. & could not find anything to complain about. The house is beyond words from the kitchen w/ Viking appliances to the décor & the view. You will not go wrong w/ this house & the owner Kimberly could not have been any more accommodating even letting us arrive early Wed. since there were not rentals prior...& although pet friendly you would never know as there were no traces of previous pets & even providing throws for the sofas ....take a wknd during the off-season & come find out for yourself....you may want to return when the weather turns warmer..!

Our home is located in a serene ,pristine, protected marine estuary. You will be surrounded by all kinds of critters and will witness nature from any of our large decks or beachfront yard.

Google the history of Slaughter Beach and you will find lots of history here! The town was founded in 1681 and incorporated in 1931. Slaughter Beach used to be a bustling little get away for Wilmington and Philadelphia. Once upon a time SB had a grocery store, hotel, and even a boardwalk where passengers were dropped off from all over. A really bad storm took that away but a few folks can still talk about the good ole days. Google Fort Saulsbury and you will learn about Slaughter Beaches contributions to both WWI, and WWII! There is a bunker in the back bay now taken over by a goat, boar farm! Did you know that Delaware bays' harbor 1000's of shipwrecks? There were plenty of pirates, Spanish fleets, Irish passenger and Cargo ships trying to make it to the largest Port of Call once upon a time, Philadephia! There are presumably over 200 shipwrecks near or in front of Slaughter Beach! Bring your metal detector you might get lucky. AaaRRRR! Philadelphia and Wilmington were very popular targets during the industrial period, and Germany wanted to destroy them! Slaughter beach was on the way .You can also google the history of my alternate favorite place, Lewes Del, about 19 miles south of Slaughter Beach. You and the kids CAN enter those lookout towers and see cannons, big guns, and the paths where ordinances may still be buried. Very cool!

If you enjoy nature this place is magical. You will find on your exploration :horseshoe crabs, diamond back terrapins, porpoises, Heron, seals, shorebirds, snowy egrets, seagulls, Bald Eagles, red fox, and white tail deer to name a few.

If your a bird watcher: stilts, bobwhite, dowitchers, skimmer shenanigans, wave runners, wood-warblers, black skimmers, sandpipers, swallows, purple martins, and the list goes on. It is a protected bay/marine estuary.

The Dupont Nature Center is one street over, it's a short walk or bike ride. Both parents and kids will love the tour, and pick up some fresh fish from the fish market. You can also launch your boat from the Marina free of charge. Crab from the backyard, fish off the docks, or surf fish from the front yard of our house.

If you like to bike Bay Ave is on the scenic bay trail and you will be joined by many bikers enjoying the trail. It's a perfect ride or walk to connect with Nature. Kayak , sail, paddle board from the front yard. Swimming at high tide and boogie boarding and waterplay are available from 30 steps.

Have a nightly bonfire, walk your dog, and enjoy an adult beverage without permits and restrictions. No parking passes required!

Slaughter Beach minimart is a short bike ride, or long walk, under 2 miles away. They have snacks, some groceries, sunscreen, bait and tackle and rent paddle boards!

We have caught blue crab from our kayaks 50 feet off shore, and flounder off the beach. If you are lucky enough to book this rental for July 4th weekend be sure to attend the sailing regatta there is a lot of fun to be had!

Slaughter Beach pavilion is located 2 miles south next to the fire hall if you want to encounter more people.

We like our serene quiet beach that's blocked off from tourism.

Should you want to venture out for hustle and bustle , the Tanger/Rehoboth Outlets are 22 miles south and there are several waterparks, a boardwalk , and fabulous dining. Tax free shopping in Delaware!

My favorite alternate is Lewes and Cape Henlopen Park with the kids. I mentiond earlier the bunkers and look out towers, be sure to visit the last operated coast guard station, Henlopen Station that manned the waters by actually rowing! Look up Captain Jones...he was my great grandfather!

While in Lewes be sure to take the kids to Lewes Pirate Expeditions they will love it! Make a reservation early and watch the kids take on a pirate and a treasure hunt at sea! Be sure to stop at the Zwaanendaal Museum and ask them directions to the house that still has a cannon ball lodged in the foundation..Circa.. pirate days!

Locally 4 miles away is the historic town of Milford Delaware with many shops, restaurants, antique malls, a very large new library, chain supermarkets, walmart, art studios, bakerys 'La Dolce', parks, fitness centers, there is also a hospital etc..

Every Saturday beginning at 8 am there is a farmers market on canal street with fresh produce arts and crafts, usually kid activities every Saturday. Try the new micro brewery tasting room off airport road, Misipillion Brewery!

NASCAR fans are welcome! Dover Downs and Casino is 28 miles north of us and visit the Sunday brunch if it's rainy! Harrington Casino is only 12 miles and 'Bones' another good choice.

If your really into history take the kids to Frederica and visit the start of the Underground railroad! And the Mason-Dixon Line. We are surrounded by rich history and NATURE!
