Welcome to Legacy Retreat House. This historic house in Reading, Pennsylvania was over the course of its lifetime: a tobacco shop, a speak- easy and the toll house for the trolley that ran to Carsonia Park- once known as the place to go in Berks County! In fact, one of the beams used in the ceiling during a recent renovation is from the old trolley tracks. You can see from our photos that this home has grown and been added onto several times in the last century. Now, you'll find this house is a wonderful place for groups to get together for pleasure or business.
We hope you will bring your friends and relax with us for a weekend. Whether you scrapbook, quilt, make jewelry, stamp, or study scripture, you can find a favorite spot in our house to do what you like to do best. Make your memories come to life -- come stay with us.
We are minutes away from Reading and Allentown and close to Amish Country and outlet shopping!
The Legacy Retreat House was rented for two nights for a group of architects/consultants for a planning session doing work in the area. The work space was ample and worked well for our purposes.
Can't think of a better place to bring in 2016 then at this amazing house. The owner was really nice and helped make our stay as enjoyable as possible. If we wanted anything she was always available to help meet our needs. The house has a great location and there's a grocery store right across the street. Its really big and has plenty of beds for everyone. Its a perfect getaway and you can't even tell you're in the city of Reading! It was a great stay and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
This was our annual college football game of fathers & grown children. There were 8 of us this year. We attended the ND vs Temple game.
It was very functional as we had separate beds for everyone, a large and well equipped kitchen where we spent most of our time and three functional bathrooms with showers.
A great location for a large family or multiple people needing separate beds etc.
A lively bar across the street and groceries / restaurants near by.
Missing wi-fi so we could connect externally etc. It kept some our techies off-line so it was a benefit.
It was perfect for us- we stayed with our two kids and loved how big it was. The girls loved to run around and we had some great family meals in the kitchen. The grocery store across the street was especially convenient. We are planning to stay again next year too.
Our family was coming to the area to visit the family I grew up with. Since we have become 3 families now, we all wanted to stay under one roof. Though this house has been set up as a crafting retreat house, it met our needs. Each family had their own bedroom, and bathroom. It would not be suitable for anyone with significant mobility issues, as it is an old, multi-level house. It is not fancy, but was neat clean. It has a nice big updated kitchen where we, as most families, gathered. The living room was good for that too. The owner was great with communications. We would stay here again.
