Over the ice cream parlor - hand dipped ice cream, malts, shakes, buffalo burgers May 15- October 15.
It's a very clean property with some of the most comfortable bedding that I have ever slept in.
The unit is well stocked with glasses, plates, coffee cups, and even some Folgers coffee for you to brew.
We will be staying at the Ahmeek Streetcar Station again.
Quality was found in every room of this rental. From the hardwood flooring to the large screen TV to the extremely comfortable beds....this was an awesome place to return to after long days of sight seeing and hunting for copper. My family and I felt right at home. (Plus the ice cream shoppe right downstairs was very convenient.) 5+ Stars!
This is a prime location for visiting anywhere in the Keweenaw. There are big, comfy beds and couches. Lots of seating for downtime.
The road traffic can be loud if the windows are open but it's really not too bad.
There's an ice cream shop downstairs that also sells burgers and hot dogs from 10 to 10 daily.
Overall, we loved this place and we'll be back again soon.
The Ahmeek Streetcar Station was a GREAT place to stay - even more roomy than on the pictures and very nicely furnished. So great to have an ice cream and buffalo burger joint downstairs. Just send the kids down with some money and everyone is happy!
Plenty of room for 6 of us and the place was just re-done in 2012 and spotlessly clean.
It's on Hwy 41 - the main road, so there is some road noise into the evening and early in the morning (if you have the windows open, as we did). It's a great place from which to explore the Keewenaw Peninsula - 15 minutes by car to Houghton/Hancock and about 40 minutes to Copper Harbor. And the price is fantastic! There is no washer/dryer, but I used the Laundromat in Calumet (5 minutes away) and it was the perfect excuse to get away from the family for an hour or so. . . Also no dishwasher. Stairs up to the unit are 'old fashioned' and a bit steep for modern standards, but my 88 year old parents were able to manage them.
Jane (the owner) and her family are really nice - they also run the North Woods Conservancy, which has it's office downstairs from the apartment.
We loved staying here - would highly recommend it.
Overall, a well maintained and pleasant property. We would certainly stay here, again.
We were very pleased with the accommodations-everything was clean and much more spacious than we thought. There is plenty of room for 6 people. We happened to be there during one of the UP's rare hot spells (temp was 88-90, very unusual for the area!) and thankfully had brought our own fan (there is no AC at the station, but usually not needed). We had all the windows open and it cooled down pretty well at night. The only "negative" I can think of is that there is a lot of traffic noise with the windows open-especially in the early morning! I would suggest earplugs if you like to sleep with the windows open! The area is wonderful-we spent most of our time in Eagle River at the fantastic beach. Great that it is centrally located-equally as convenient to go into Houghton/Hancock or Copper Harbor. The Keweenaw is one of my favorite places, and we would not hesitate to book this location again.
The Keweenaw Peninsula is known for its beautiful Lake Superior shoreline. We are on the Mt. Bike/ATV/snowmobile trail, and centrally located to historic Calumet, Mt. Bohemia, Copper Harbor, and the Houghton/Hancock area (Michigan Technological University)
