About Rebekah Nelson

Hi - Great to "meet" you!

I'm Bek with many labels. Some of them include Mom to three delicious kids, wife to a fabulous husband and manager of my own business. Some others include: chef, yogi, gardener, hermit, dancer, playmate and adventurer.

I love to be creative. This shows up mostly in the kitchen, garden and organizing fun (and sometimes silly ;) events and experiences for my friends, family and of course myself! I love pretty much anything outdoors: gardening, skiing, cycling, hiking, swimming and kayaking. My quiet side loves reading, yoga, chocolate meditation and snoozing in the sun.

I'm originally from England, I traveled the world for business and pleasure (mostly both :) and finally settled in the USA (Indiana) in 2006. I love the heartland for it's easy going people, relaxed pace and quality of life. I love our local countryside with wide open spaces, zero rush hour and being just 15 minutes to the beautiful lake Michigan.

I love Richmond-upon-Thames for its easy access to shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, numerous parks and of course, the riverside. I love that I can enjoy the relaxed, fun pace in Richmond and be in central London in 15 minutes.

As a host, I'll be as hands on or hands off as you need/want. I'm happy to help wherever I can to help make your stay at any of our properties delightful!

Have a fabulous day!

Bek

Fantastic house and owner

  • 5 of 5

The house is awesome, very big and well maintained. Bek is fantastic. She is super responsive and helpful leading up to and during the stay. Her attention to detail and thoughtfulness is demonstrated by the case of beer and chocolates that welcomed us as we first entered the Barn. I highly recommend this house and owner!

Rustic mixed with Elegance

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the 'Barn' on our visit to the grandkids, who have a place in nearby New Buffalo. We were struck by how artistically the home was decorated. Lovely surroundings. Three bedrooms, including a very nice loft Master. The main living area was on the second level, with 2 smaller, but nice bedrooms on the first, entry level, floor, with a bathroom on that floor also. Up the flight of steps is the main living area, the kitchen, a pool table, plus the upper level bathroom. Both baths have showers. Decor, as I said is rustic, artistic and some of it must be one of a kind. The steps up to the master might be a little scary if you have toddlers. However our 5 year old grandson scampered right up to the loft and onto the ladder that leads to a little cupola which has a nice seating area and a lovely view. But it was a bit warm for August. The deck is equipped with a nice seating area, a grill and a fire pit, which we used for our 'traditional' S'mores dessert with the grandkids. We were pleased that we were allowed to bring our 2 small dogs. The place is on a quiet street with enough lawn to easily walk the dogs. There was a hammock, but with the rainy week we spent, we didn't have much time to use it. Inside, the sofas were nice for TV watching after the grandkids went home to bed. Too, being a coffee freak, I enjoyed the French Press every morning for great coffee. We also had our 'traditional' spaghetti dinner, and there were plenty of pots and pans for that, and a nice big bowl for our salad. All in all, a comfortable place with everything we needed and very elegant surroundings to please the eye. I would highly recommend the place, but as I said, I'd be careful of little ones who might try to climb the stairs to the loft. That might be bad for a 1, 2 or 3 year old since on the landing there is no railing on one side. Otherwise, older kids, and especially adults, would find the place a tranquil, romantic getaway.

Great place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

The barn is very well done with tons of character and charm. We stayed for 3 nights and all the Dunes parks were within 30 minutes. The owner was very sweet and accommodating as we arrived to a gift package that had things for the kids and champagne for us. She gave us some helpful tips on things to do and places to eat and our trip was awesome! We will definitely stay again!

Peace and Tranquillity

  • 5 of 5

Family reunion was perfect! This house had everything. Plenty of space for everyone. Home decor was beautiful and the owner was so accommodating to our needs. Plenty of linens, towels, beds, chairs, and kitchen utensils. Basically, just bring your clothes and food. We were greeted at the property and given a tour of the place. They even left us a bag of goodies for smores. The fire pit was definitely utilized in the deck and there was plenty of seating area for all. Would love the opportunity to come back again. Highly Recommended!

Had an awesome time!

  • 5 of 5

My brothers and friends met out at the Barn and River Rock Studio and had an absolute blast. The property was beautiful, and there was a lot to do in the surrounding area. Rebekah was a great host and was immediately available to answer any questions or concerns. We wouldn't have changed a thing, and may even be back again next year!

Great Group Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 16 adults, 1 infant, and 4 dogs LOVED the peace and quiet of Bek's eclectic compound -- A huge lawn for the dogs to run around, a hammock to relax in, a well appointed deck on which to convene, and perhaps the coziest cupola one could hope for made this the perfect retreat for our group. A bottle of wine and detailed information greeted us in both the Barn and River Rock Studio. It was clear that Bek and her family have taken great care to curate a beautiful collection of art and artifacts, but not to such a degree that we felt uncomfortable. We loved that the homes were only an hour and a half from Chicago and a reasonable distance for our friends from Up North and Iowa -- Thanks again to Bek for housing us for a wonderful weekend!
