About Kirsty & Phil Machin
We have always loved France and fell in love with the Languedoc area a while ago whilst on holiday in the area. We love coming down the house to relax and enjoy great food and wine. We love the quiet of the village but it's also so close to Trebes and Carcassonne for shopping and all the amenities. We also really enjoying cycling along the canal to Trebes for a locally produced glass of wine and amazing tapas!
Kirsty & Phil Machin purchased this House in 2014
Why Kirsty & Phil Machin chose Carcassonne
We looked at a range of properties in the area and fell in love with the views from the roof terrace looking out over the vineyards and could instantly picture ourselves there. It was the first house we looked at and after a busy weekend of property hunting we decided that it was too good not to buy it!
What makes this House unique
The views from the roof terrace are stunning and we also love to spend evenings in the back courtyard having a nice barbeque with the family. The kids love the table tennis and darts in the old barn.

Wonderful home in a quiet, lovely village
We spent a week at Kirsty and Phil's place in Marseillette and loved it. It is immaculately clean and they have clearly put much thought and effort into making it an easily accessible and delightful vacation home rental experience. They even had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us on our arrival! The village is very quiet, but there is a bakery, café/bar, restaurant all within walking distance. If you're so inclined, you can cycle to the canal du midi in minutes and noodle along to visit and explore different towns along the canal. Hop in the car and visit and you have unlimited sites and places to visit. We loved going to the Mediterranean as well as the old city of Carcassone. There are wineries to visit pretty much all over the place.
We would definitely recommend this place without any hesitation.
Well equipped typically French
We stayed in this lovely typically French 3-storey house set in a village on the Canal du Midi and surrounded by vineyards. The accommodation was spacious and beautifully decorated, and has a courtyard accessed from the first floor. Our favourite was the roof terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the valley to the foothills of the Pyrenees. It's situated about an hour from Toulouse airport and within an hour's drive of the Mediterranean beaches. In the near vicinity is Carcassonne with its medieval walled town and also villages and walks along the Canal du Midi. We would definitely recommend this house and will be visiting again.
Lovely Accommodation & Location
I stayed there with friends and had a fantastic time. The accommodation has everything you need to enjoy yourself, was clean and tidy, and the dart board, table tennis table and sun terrace were great. There are some lovely walks to be had nearby and with cheap French food and wine what more do you need. There is lots to see and do nearby for everyone and I'd certainly recommend the local nougat which was outstanding! Overall would highly recommend!!
Lovely, well equipped rural/rustic property
We had a three night stay here - it's a lovely place to stay! Only 2 mins walk from a fantastic boulangerie up the hill, or 5 mins walk down the hill to the beautiful canal. It's got a huge garages I park the car, or there is off street parking literally around the corner. As a bit if cooking fan, I found the kitchen very well stocked with equipment and utensils. It's really set up like a second home to be honest, they've even got a huge bluetooth speaker so I could play my music straight from my phone. There's two great outside areas, but to be honest I only used one as it was the lovely top sun balcony as I wanted a tan! The other is more shady, so perfect for using for a dining area out of the mid day heat. My only annoyance with the property was that I didn't book for longer! Oh yeah, and that I was the only one not to catch a fish in the canal when everyone else did - Ha!
Excellent house and facilities in village
The house is full of character and used to be a winery many years ago. The property is clean and well maintained with good facilities all round. We particularly enjoyed the table tennis table and the amazing sun terrace with views across the roofs to surrounding mountains and fields.
There are lovely walks down to and along the canal, the river can also be accessed in places which is nice for a picnic in the sun.
The town of Carcassonne lends itself to interesting historical buildings and a good selection of restaurants of which we enjoyed 2 meals out at.
The house is well equipped for self catering with a large kitchen/diner/living room for social cooking!
We really enjoyed our stay and will definately be returning soon.
Quaint charismatic, typifies rural France
I stayed here with some friends for a get away from it all weekend. We were lucky with the weather and got some decent sun sitting on the rooftop terrace.
Mind your head on the way up to the top, the low roof beam on the top floor is immovable..
The location is great with immediate access to the Canal Du Midi and the River Aude. I fished and caught a decent carp in the river. It is close to Carcassonne where we ate out a number of times.
This is one of my favourite areas of France.
The house itself is well set up with a ping pong table, decent cooker, large fridge, TV, wood burner stove for the winter months. There was a BBQ on the roof terrace. It retains that rustic feel of a french rural town, which I love. The main shower had great pressure and decent hot water.
Marseillette is a traditional French village on the canal du midi which is a 5 minute walk from the house. The house overlooks the vineyards and is a great base for sightseeing or cycling holidays.
