About Nick Agnew

We are a family that has vacationed in the Saugatuck and Douglas area for last several years and love everything both the town and beach area(s) have to offer, from both an outdoors and cultural perspective. We also own a rental property on the Lakeshore in Saugatuck as well.

Nick Agnew purchased this house in 2012

Why Nick Agnew chose Saugatuck

We love the town of Saugatuck and everything it has to offer; from the many art and cultural activities, to the great restaurants, outdoor activities, and waterfront. We wanted to build a home that would allow people to have direct access to the town, without having to use a car.

What makes this house unique

Walking distance to everything in the downtown Saugatuck area, including Marina, restaurants, galleries, shoppes, wineries, biking and hiking trails.

not worth the money...

  • 2 of 5

Place is clean and kitchen is good but things go down hill from there.

> All the beds are sad and furniture in bedrooms are poor.

> TV system in the main room is mounted way too high.

> Channel selection is disappointing.

> TV in first floor bedroom is tilting to one side and cuts off heads in the picture, never seen a TV like that

> The entire house is so drab and not cheery and the bathrooms are the only place to find a mirror

>Bathrooms small and cramped with extra loud exhaust fan.

> Many steps to get down to the town.

Decent place in a very nice area

  • 4 of 5

This was a simple but well laid out house that worked well for our stay. The best thing was it’s location - a safe, residential area and a beautiful 6 minute walk through a neighborhood where most of the homes are quaint and beautifully manicured along the way to downtown Saugatuck. It is still listed as a new build but says it was built in 2013.

We did not give it 5 stars because it seemed a bit neglected, especially for the high daily price PLUS the $150 cleaning fee.

Reasons for only 4 stars:

-not looking, my wife found 3 cobwebs (2 with bugs) hanging from the 1 st floor ceiling

-grill was super rusty, so we did not feel we could use it

-there are no nightstands in the 2 upstairs bedrooms so the phones, iPad, watches go on the floor

-the front-load washing machine has a LOT of black mold around the seal

-we brought a baby (crawling) so wet-swiffed the 1st floor upon arrival and there was a fair amount of dirt picked up..

-part of the vinyl white ceiling of the front porch had been hanging down, so wood beams underneath were visible

-landscaping did not add to the neighborhood - the only flowers were tall dandelions growing up in the mulch.

Given the above, we felt the 4 star rating was generous.

Owner's Response: Sorry you did not have an enjoyable stay in our property. I think this is a first negative review for us about this property. Glad you at least liked the area. Based on your comments, I'm surprised you gave it 4 stars...sounds like it should have been much less! Note: I have shared your reviews with our cleaning service, who will check for cobwebs. Note: we don't book heavily in "off-season", which may explain some of those cob webs. Never the less, our cleaning crew will make sure that all areas are covered. Included in that will be cleaning of mold around washing machine and extra wet mopping of floors. As for vinyl on front porch hanging from ceiling, with the bad weather and wind the area has been experiencing as of late, yes a piece did fall down and has been fixed and repaired. As for grill, apologies, new one has been purchased. We seem to have to buy a new grill every season, and will continue to do so. We will share your comments about landscaping to our lawn service, to plant more than just the dandelions you saw. Have a great summer.

Tons of room, great location

  • 5 of 5

It was great walking to town every day and not needing to drive/park. The house has plenty of room and we had a great stay with our kids.

Enjoyed our stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 stayed for a weekend. The home was clean & well maintained. Location was a plus & the neighborhood was quiet. Although we drove to town due to several medical issues in our group you could walk. Sometimes it's hard to find parking in town so walking would solve that problem. You may want to bring a few extra towels depending on the number of people in your group.
