|Minimum Stay||3 - 6 nights|
Welcome to our vacation home. Our home includes a master bedroom with a queen bed along with it's own bathroom complete with shower and garden tub. The guest bedrooms consist of one with a queen bed and the other with a set of bunk beds and an extra twin bed. There are two couches (one is a hide-a-bed) if extra sleeping accommodations are needed. The guest bathroom also has a tub with shower.
One of the neatest parts of the house is the enclosed porch that has been added on to the original structure. It has many windows that can be opened to feel the nice breeze off the lake in the summer and a wood fireplace that can be used to cozy up around in the winter. There is a small covered deck that adjoins this porch that's great for having your morning cup of coffee as you overlook the lake. You also will get use of the right third of the pole building. The room (man cave) in there has a table with chairs, TV, and fridge. It's a great place to go when you feel the need to spread out a bit.
There is plenty to do at our place. The lake is over 300 acres and is usually very quiet. The lake has provided us with many fantastic outings fishing for walleyes and crappies. There are plenty of northerns, bass, and big sunfish as well. Quite often we've been the only boat on the lake during the week. It's just you, the loons, and the resident eagle soaring overhead. Our boat is available to rent provided it stays on Pearl lake and gets put back on the lift at the end of each day. We have a sand beach and a swimming area that the kids love to use despite its mud bottom. Guests are more then welcome to use our paddle boat, kayaks (4 of them), and paddle boards (2 of them). There will be some life jackets and fishing poles in the man cave that can be used by guests as well. We have a large assortment of games which include bean bag toss, badminton, and bocce for outside of the cabin. We have a gamecube, cards, and some board games for inside the cabin. Finish off your day by hanging out by the fire pit outside the house.
The cabin has a gas stove, fridge, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The cabin will have towels and extra linens for your use. The kitchen comes with all utensils and pans that you should need. You will be provided with at least a couple days of toiletries in case you were hoping to avoid making an immediate trip to the store. A propane grill will be provided for your use as well.
There are plenty things to do that are a short distance away from the cabin. We are surrounded by many other lakes if you're looking for other fishing or boating opportunities. Our place is literally within 15 minutes of everything that Detroit Lakes has to offer. Soo Pass Dude Ranch (WE Fest), the beach downtown, and 4 golf courses are less than 7 miles away. Detroit Mountain (biking and skiing) is 10 miles away. Wal-Mart, Menards, and Fleet Supply are within 10 minutes of the cabin as well.
Let me know if there is anything else that you can think of that would enhance your stay. My hope is that you'll enjoy the place as much as we do.
This cabin is available to rent on a weekly basis year round.
I grew up in Dilworth, MN and my wife is from Stillwater, MN. I have been teaching high school math at Elk River for 23 years. My wife currently works at Bethel University and a speaker/writer on spiritual healing and forgiveness.
Curt Michener purchased this cabin in 2009
I grew up going to grandpa's cabin in Detroit Lakes. I was able to continue to use his cabin until his passing in 2009. At that time, we decided to buy our own place as we love the area and have family nearby.
Owner was easy to work with, kayaks were a nice amenity, property is really nice for what it is. Area and lake is super quiet and peaceful. As another review said, the pictures probably don't do it justice. For a simple, quiet and affordable place in DL I'd give it 5 stars.
Great location. It was very clean and had everything you would need. The pictures didn't do it justice. The owner was great to work it. Would recommend this place to family and friends. Would love to stay again.
We enjoyed the cabin and lake alike. The clear lake was peaceful and provided good multi species fishing. We threw some horseshoes, grilled and enjoyed the quiet surroundings.
This was a wonderful getaway. The lake is the perfect size for kayaking and fishing. Fully stocked kitchen allowed us to cook in, and still have time to enjoy evening boat rides and fires in the back yard. The tin roof on the porch sounds great during the rain. Nice dock for fishing and reading. Sand beach makes for easy lake access. Yard is beautifully maintained. Just wish we could stay longer.
