About the property

Seaside Villa, swimming pool, tennis, sailing boats, kayaks, belvedere kiosk.

Seahorse-M is a luxurious seaside summer house, in Peloponnese, near Palaia Epidavros (150 km from Athens), perfect as a vacation destination, excellent for relaxation but also for summer activities, for families with children or groups of friends. It is available for self catering rental, with accommodation for up to 10-12 people during the late spring, summer and autumn months. It has open space large sitting-lounging-dining-kitchen area, study, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2WCs and a playroom. The Villa is right by the sea, spacious, bright and beautifully decorated, set in terraced gardens, with an infinity swimming pool, doubles tennis court, sailing boats, kayaks and a “belvedere kiosk” overlooking the Gulf of Epidavros.

The Seahorse-M Villa is built on an inclined site of two acres and has three levels connected by a central staircase, with a total of 350m2 living space open to guests.

The main level is open space with comfortable sitting area around a double-sided fireplace, large dining area, kitchen with an island unit and additional casual small dining area, guest WC and a storage room by the kitchen, all with access to the front and side veranda. Two air condition units cool the area if needed. The study is situated at the north end of the house, gives access to the deck and the swimming pool and for additional comfort has a ceiling fan. The central staircase leads to the upper and lower levels. The main entrance is on this level, at the center of the house, under the covered porch. There are spacious terraces, on three sides, all with sea view, partly covered or shaded, where the outdoor sitting-lounging and dining areas are to be found. The swimming pool is on this level, adjacent to the house and access to it is through the study from the side deck and from the veranda at the the front porch.

On the upper level there are four bedrooms: one double with a fireplace and en-suite bathroom with jacuzzi, another double with en-suite WC, a third double room with elevated extra single bed and adjacent bathroom and one bedroom with two single beds, one of them elevated, and a sofa bed that can be used as a 3rd single bed, or alternatively another sofa bed that can be used as an extra small double bed (1,35 m. large) upon request and en-suite bathroom with shower. All upper floor bedrooms have air conditions and ceiling fans and access to them is through the lobby, around the central staircase. All bedrooms and bathrooms have balcony doors and windows with a sea view and spacious verandas with the same uninterrupted view to the sea and the nearby islands. There is also a back veranda, accessed from the lobby, with a mountain view.

The fifth bedroom of the Villa is situated on the lower level. It has a double bed and two single beds (one elevated, the other one slides out from underneath) and an en suite bathroom. It is equipped with air condition and has a garden view from its windows. The playroom with pool table, table tennis and sitting area is also on this level. The other rooms (storage, washing-ironing area, electromechanical facilities) are not open to guests.

The interior decoration is inspired by the dominant surrounding element, the sea. Pebbles penetrate the antique marble floors and the bathrooms, boat like wooden floors in the bedrooms, shells scattered on curtains, lampshades and bowls, nautical themes on wall pictures and decoration items, shades of blue…

The Seahorse Villa is offering various options of outdoor living on the surrounding terraces (some of them covered or shaded) and gardens, which are arranged on different levels and reached by pebble pathways and stone stairs.

The main outdoor sitting-lounging area is located at the front covered porch, with the shaded dining area right next to it and a second relaxing area is at the deck by the pool, all equipped with wooden comfortable furniture and offering the magnificent view of the surrounding sea landscape. There you can sit, eat, relax, chat, read, sunbathe, enjoy yourself! Extra outdoor sitting areas can be found on the first floor bedroom balconies, at the rear veranda or at the “belvedere kiosk”.

The infinity private swimming pool (12,5 m x 5,5 m and 3,2 m deep, with a shallow area for pool games) is adjacent to the house, surrounded by a wooden deck partly shaded, with reclining armchairs and wooden benches, and an outdoor shower. An inflated water volleyball net and water polo goal are available for pool games.

The full size doubles tennis court is in front of the main building, at a lower level and can be reached through the garden pathways. An adjustable basketball hoop and archery facilities are also available there.

The “belvedere kiosk” is at the northeast edge of the grounds, hanging right above the sea, just beyond the estate’s vineyard. It is the perfect place for relaxing, reading your book, enjoy the view, have your pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap and an absolute must for watching the moon rise over Methana Peninsula.

Just 10 meters from the main gate, is a pebble and coarse sand beach with crystal clear water. You can swim, snorkel, and enjoy the water and the sea floor, watch schools of fish, sea urchins, starfish and, if lucky, sea turtles and seahorses, and even dolphins swimming by at a distance. A Seahorse-M tradition is to swim in the moonbeam during a full moon.

Nearby is another pebble beach that can be reached by the provincial road, half a kilometer away, 15 minutes walk or 3 minutes by car. If you enjoy swimming, snorkeling, rowing or sailing, you can easily visit both beaches within half or maybe an hour, depending on your skills and weather conditions.

For more action and summer fun the villa is equipped with three sailing boats (two Lasers, Olympic class sailing boats, and a Walker bay 310) with easy to launch trailers and professional assistance if required. There is also a Novurania 4.80 m, inflatable speedboat that can accommodate up to 5 persons + our skipper which can be used for small excursions to near beaches, ports and islands (on request). Wake boarding lessons for beginners can be arranged on request, taught by the owners’ son, a former national champion in the junior men’s class. And if the above is too much for you, enjoy the tranquility of the sea in our two new one-person kayaks!

For the extra-fit ones there are also bicycles available, in two sizes, for exploring the area, but keep in mind that the roads leading to and from the villa are steep.

No need to say that the kitchen is fully equipped with all the usual paraphernalia (pots, cutlery, crockery, oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, etc.), bed – bath linen and beach towels are also available, there is Satellite TV – Dvd player, Radio – CD player (bluetooth, usb), Wi-fi and Internet connection (please ask for additional facilities).

We also have daily maid service in the morning, daily cleaning of the pool and the verandas, cleaning the house and changing the linen twice a week (please ask for additional services, cook etc).

On the days that you will want to explore the area, plenty of options are available, covering many tastes and preferences, from cultural sites and events, to natural beauties and entertainment. The archaeological site of the Sanctuary of Asklepios with its famous ancient theater and the small ancient theater of the town of Palaiá Epídavros (where classic Greek plays are performed during the Summer Festival) is nearby. The archaeological sites of Mycenae and Tiryns can be reached easily, as can the historically interesting and picturesque port city of Nafplion, with its many shops, restaurants and bars. The cosmopolitan Argo-Saronic Gulf islands of Poros, Aegina, Spetses with their natural beauties and vivid night life and the interesting Methana peninsula, with its volcano, the volcanic hot springs and the small fishing villages, are all well within easy reach. We will be happy to provide more information for all these.

So, just take the decision and let yourself enjoy the tranquility and comfort of our seaside Villa with the activities it provides (swimming pool, tennis, the sea), the closest thing to living on a boat, and combine them with additional activities in nearby popular places of historic interest and natural beauty!

The villa is located in the northeastern Peloponnese, in Dryópi, Troizinía, 150 km southeast of Athens and the Athens International Airport, approximately a two hour drive along a partly coastal motorway. Although the villa is self sufficient, the surrounding area is so full of places of cultural or natural interest that renting a car and exploring its beauties is recommended.

The villa is 15 km east from the seaside village and port of Ancient (also known as Palaiá) Epídavros and 25 Km from the ancient Sanctuary of Asklepios its religious centre in ancient times and one of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece, two places that worth visiting. The village of Ancient Epídavros with its port with calm waters, is surrounded by acres of orange-tree orchards and is proud to exhibit a recently restored small ancient theatre, where musical performances are held in July, on the weekends, while other ancient structures are unearthed nearby. During the same period in the exhibition of local products visitors can buy delicacies and souvenirs and in its numerous coffee shops, taverns, pizzerias and shops can eat or do the shopping. You can also take scuba diving or ski lessons here, visit the sunken city (underwater ruins of Ancient Epidaurus) and go to boat excursions or do paragliding from the surrounding mountains to the beach. The archaeological site of the Sanctuary of Asklepios (World Heritage List), is one of the most famous healing centers of antiquity and a must for the lovers of ancient world. The site is famous for the large ancient theatre (the Epidaurus theatre), with extraordinary acoustics and a seating capacity of 15,000 spectators, where ancient Greek plays are performed every weekend in July and August. The archaeological site has more than fifty partly restored other ancient structures (Abaton, Propylon, Stadium, Tholos, Temple of Asklepios etc) and the local archaeological museum displays artifacts found during the archaeological excavations. Choose to go early in the morning, when it is still cool and less visitors around! The nearby village of Lygourio (Demos Asklipiou) is known for its meat tavernas.

A visit to Náfplion (50 km from the villa) certainly worths your time and is highly recommended. It is a picturesque seaside city with abundant places of interest, from monuments (the castle of Akronafplía, the Boúrtzi fort in the sea), the nearby archaeological site of Tíryns (60 km, World Heritage List) or ancient Asíni, to state and private museums (archaeological, Greek folklore, etc.), nightlife (bars, restaurants) and places of natural beauty and beaches (Karathóna beach, Arvanitiá Promenade, Toló). Best enjoyed in late afternoon, when the sun sets in the sea opposite the town!

If you feel more up to visiting archeological sites Mycénae (70 km, World Heritage List) is another option. It is the home of mythical Agamemnon, as sung by Homer in his epics. A fortified citadel surrounded by cyclopean walls, with remains of the palace, the Lion Gate, tholos tombs (treasure of Atreus, tombs of Aegisthus and Clytaemnestra) and a very interesting new archaeological museum.

The cosmopolitan Argosaronic gulf islands of Póros (25 km), Hydra (40 km) and Spétses (45 km) are all within easy reach by car and then boat/ferry service. All blessed with natural beauties (beaches, beautiful landscapes), spots of cultural interest (temples, castles, museums, churches etc), sports facilities (water ski, wakeboard, rowing) and lots of gastronomy options or places of vivid night life (restaurants, bars, clubs etc).

The other Argosaronic islands, Angístri and Áegina (reached by speed boat, 10 and 15 nautical miles away) are offering more visiting options with their natural and cultural spots of interest (beautiful beaches, archaeological sites, taverns etc).

The Méthana Peninsula, just opposite (east) of the Villa (20 km by car or 5 nautical miles - 15 min by speedboat), is known for its volcano, the volcanic thermal springs and the scattered fishing villages, marinas with sea food restaurants, small churches, and beaches. A visit to the volcano is recommended, as parts of it are approached in a half an hour uphill walk through a pine forest, with breathtaking views (suitable for the active ones).

For all the above you will find photos and more information in our ‘Welcome dossier’ at the Villa!
