Thanks again for everything - and GO BISON!
After enjoying the charm of this lovely home and the graciousness of the host, we will never choose anywhere else to stay when visiting Ames. I can say without question that you will not be disappointed. The well appointed kitchen lends itself perfectly to those who like to prepare their own meals (Christine stocks the refrigerator for the breakfast items of your choice), but lots of fun restaurants nearby make eating out just as inviting. The house is within a few blocks of the university campus and the surrounding neighborhood is both a safe and lovely place to take a morning walk. Or if you prefer, you can enjoy your morning coffee sitting on the enclosed front porch watching the neighbors take their morning walk. Five stars doesn't seem like enough to rate this immaculate little gem. Thank you Christine for providing this lodging option for visitors to Ames. I didn't ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't have a PhD in hospitality. And, her gift for design will inspire you. Although we visited as a couple, the home could easily accommodate two more and would be the perfect spot to bring another couple for a getaway weekend in a university town that has a lot to offer. We will definitely return!
Our visit to Iowa State University for a campus tour and fencing was a pleasant experience. The lights were on in the home to welcome us and enabled us to find everything we needed to prepare for our night. The beds were comfortable and the sheets/blanket selection made for cozy sleeping. The older home remodeled received an award and maintained the history with modern comforts. We took advantage of the washer/dryer, kitchen facilities, outdoor seating, tv/internet, and screened in porch. We drove to the campus, but could easily have walked to our campus destinations. This stay (with all the extra personal touches) complimented our visit and made for a relaxing 3 night stay. We look forward to staying here again.
Christine is a terrific host and was very accommodating to some last minute requests that I had prior to my stay. The house is very comfortable, well appointed and in a great location. Any future visits to Ames will require me first to check the availability of Christine's place.
This place is nicely decorated and well stocked with everything you need to cook a meal. They even leave bacon, eggs, bread, milk and OJ in the fridge for you to use. Only about a mile and a half from my daughters dorm at ISU so conveniently located to boot. Would stay again...
We had a wonderful four night stay attending a football game and visiting relatives. Christine was a lovely host preparing the refrigerator with breakfast supplies. Although we did not use the kitchen facilities, the kitchen was very well stocked with plates, dishes and utensils. The home was very comfortably nestled amongst beautiful older homes in a park-like neighborhood. We would highly recommend this property.
This place is phenomenal! The homeowner has it set up like a top notch hotel with all the amenities and conveniences. They even buy breakfast items for you during your stay. House is beautiful, spacious and relaxing. Very quiet neighborhood, especially important in a college town. However, it is walking distance to campus, pubs, and restaurants.
I would recommend to anyone traveling to Ames for both a short or extended stay.
