Photos and Description of this holiday chalet in Villar-d'Arêne

An idyllic site at the world's end. Those who look for a moment of calm and isolation will be happy any season.

Winter : walks wearing boots or snowshoes (meeting chamois, roedeer and foxes), cross country skiing and open air ice skating to amuse the children. Downhill skiing is available also : at 2 km a family mini resort, at 6 km a family resort with enclosed area for little ones with games on skis under supervision. 2 Alpes Serre Chevalier resorts are about 30-40 mins away by car. Nearby also is the well known "Vallons de la Meije" offpiste, adventure skiing, ice climbing, ski-touring and at 6 km snowkiting. Monitors guides are available for all sports.

Spring : fields white with daffodils, later coloured with a diversity of flowers.

Summer : a 10 mins walk to mini-golf, tennis court via ferrata. Walks and hiking from the chalet or, a few minutes by car, climbing, trecking and mountain biking. There are other various leisure activities.

Autumn : colourful mountain

A great wee find!

  • 4 of 5

Mme Brossy, the owner, was lovely and very welcoming. The chalet was ideal for us as a couple as we slept on the mezzanine level and had the ground floor as our living space. It was an excellent base for touring the area by foot and car. Breakfast on the balcony was a treat as it has spectacular mountain views and enjoys the morning sunshine.

We enjoyed meals at various local restaurants but especially enjoyed our meals at Le Chalet in Le Grave and L'Estable in Chantemerle as well as the pizzas at the Gite Pas de L'Ane in the village which also had free WiFi.

We will recommend the chalet to our friends. We had a great two weeks!

Cycle and Walking Base

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is located in a peaceful part of the valley and provides a very good base for cycling or walking. I used the Chalet as the base for a road cycling holiday; I could ride directly from the village or drive to Briancon or Bourg d'Oisson and start from there, in this respect the chalet was ideally located.

The chalet was simply but well equiped with an area for storing bikes, walking gear or skis. There are two sleeping areas and the chalet was warm despite there being a frost on a couple of the early mornings.

Mme Brossy was very welcomming and it was a pleasure to stay here.

  • 5 of 5

Cozy chalet in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks in Mrs Brossys chalet and we cannot else than recommend this holiday home. It is in a small hamlet with only a few other houses, a camp site and a refuge. In the latter one can purchase various types of baguette, as well as it serves as a restaurant. Our main intention to visit the area was hiking and the chalet was an absolutely perfect starting point for this. The entrance of the beautiful Romanche valley is only a 15 minutes walk away. Other worthwhile trails are not far from Arsine.

The chalet itself is very cozy, especially the maisonette sleeping area. Kitchen and living-room offer everything needed.

Mrs Brossy, who lives next-door, is perfectly helpful and friendly, i.e. she gave us good recommendations (additionally to the considerable documentation in the chalet), answered every question and even shared salad from her garden with us. It was a pleasure to meet her.

As said above, we recommend this chalet highly and are keen to come again.
