As a builder from Kentucky and life-long Apalachicola fan I looked long and hard at finding the right location for the perfect family vacation spot. I wish to extend my personal invitation to you and your family to share my new vacation home.
Downtown Apalachicola has so much to offer and being able to provide the creature comforts to hard working families like mine was foremost in planning and building this get-away.
My family enjoys a little pampering with their time off that is what we wish to share with you. There is plenty of parking on the property. There is room for the boat to be hitched to the truck while parked in the shade of the backyard with a handy water hose accessible. In addition another double long spot is adjacent to that as well as an additional private parking spot in the front of the cottage.
Inside we designed everything with family in mind. New comfortable beds in every bedroom and a twin size sleeper sofa. A full size washer and dryer, an ironing board and iron, a completely stocked kitchen and a relaxing great room are part of the package.
Beyond that are two full bath rooms three private bedrooms. The kitchen great room were designed to allow an open cooking area with room to do so. The tiled floors are for active, easy care, vacationing.
Everyone deserves a little pampering while taking a break for relaxation. That is why we decided to take everything up a notch. The new bedding is matched with quality linens and we carry that over to the bathrooms. The shower heads are spa type.
This location, across the street from the scenic river and restaurants, is as much about outdoors as inside. There is a relaxing patio and back yard as well as a covered back porch which is perfect for watching the occasional storms pass through.
Bring the boat, kayak, bikes, books and games. There is Wi-Fi and cable for after dinner because there is so much to do during the day. Just about anything you can do in, on, above, below or under the water is offered somewhere nearby. Grab a guide at the Visitors Center a quick stroll away.
Apalachicola is one of the most historic towns in the country. Its history is rich, eventful and inspiring. You will want to read up about it on line or in the nearby bookstore. Today it is haven for bird watching, all sorts of fishing, photography, environmental site and studies and artists. Not to mention the seasonal variations - such as the massive butterfly, marine and bird migrations.
You can easily rent a golf cart and spend all day simply touring the beautiful homes in the historic district, of which you will be a part of. Spanish moss laden giant oaks, hundreds of varieties of palms, delightful gardens are truly inspiring and relaxing.
We picked this downtown location because we wanted to be where could park the car and leave it parked. Apalachicola daytime offers countless boutiques , art galleries, coffee shops and restaurants. It is a safe haven where you need not worry about the family strolling the town. The pace is different and infectious.
Fishing and festivals round out the calendar in Apalachicola. Fishing is easy to hook up - again simply stroll to the Visitor's Center for assistance. The festivals, parades and fireworks are a block away in almost any direction from this property with the added advantage being your parking spots are secured.
Head out your front door to the left and you will be on the grounds for the annual Seafood Festival. Head out your front door to the right and you will be in the middle of arts festivals. Head out the back door to the river for street parades, boat parades and fireworks.

This property is the perfect retreat because you can park the car and leave parked until it is time to head home. Everything is walking distance. The property is secluded yet the river is across the street. There is a sense home with an established lot, plenty of shade, plenty of privacy, plenty of quiet. Walk one direction to the festivals in the park, another to the festivals downtown, and yet another to the fireworks on the river. There is abundant shade and enough parking to keep the boat hitched to the truck while paring three more vehicles. This is a complete home on a residential lot with refreshing shade and creature comforts.
Designed with families in mind yet delightful for couples. The full size washer and dryer, two full baths, Wi-Fi, expanded cable, ironing board and iron and attention to detail are unique to downtown actual home. It is not a loft but a residence. Downtown locations are idea and this particular location beats them all because it is private and spacious as well as closest to all possible events. Events downtown, or in the park, or in the marina or by the river are all easily accessible by foot. The cars stay parked.
Everything is new. New beds, baths, kitchen, fenced in patio and expanded parking.
We were invited to preview this lovely guest house by the owner. We are frequent visitors to Apalachicola and welcome this extraordinary property. Peyton has created the perfect family vacation home in heart of historic downtown Apalachicola. Being retirees we love the ability to park the car and simply walk to everything from the property. The Fourth of July fireworks and parade were a half block away. The riverfront restaurants are next door and downtown shopping starts a few feet away. Having a full size washer and dryer and fully stocked kitchen are bonus items hard to find in any Apalachicola rental. There was plenty of room for the boat trailer. What we enjoyed was the attention to detail. Everything is provided and the furnishings are both functional and comfortable. We liked the fact no one has to go anywhere to check in. By having our unique key code provided in advance we simply drove to the property and let ourselves in. The Owl Café is beginning to get some competition but remains a must visit a short block away. The oyster and seafood restaurants a half block away are exceptional as well. Caroline's daily grouper special and the ability to eat indoors, (table cloth), or outside on the river is special. The Grill remains our favorite fried shrimp spot. Being downtown in July means it is difficult to find parking but with five parking spots it was wonderful. We recommend you walk the two blocks to the Visitor's Center. There is so much more to Apalachicola than you imagine. This is the ideal vacation spot.
Stayed here for a wedding and were very pleased. Location cannot be beat!
My mother and I and my dog, Liberty, spent Thanksgiving week at the Apalach Guest House. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious and located right in the heart of downtown Apalachicola, which is a charming little town. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops. We enjoyed delicious meals at Up the Stairs, Slice, Seafood Grill and Cafe Con Leche. The Ormon Historic House State Park is also an easy walk and definitely worth visiting. A shout out to Kathy Robinson, property manager, who was easy to deal with from the beginning and very responsive when we had an issue with the hot water heater.
We absolutey loved this house and we'll definitely stay here again!
The space is great - bright, comfortable and well thought out. There was ample room for my friends and I (the couch and the small pullout are surprisingly nice). The guesthouse is just a stone's throw from downtown Apalachicola, which is great for getting food and living the dream, but feels like it is in a quiet suburban neighborhood. The parking area is ample and was particularly useful on the 3rd of July, when the town celebrates independence day.
I have stayed on St. George Island before but really preferred being in Apalachicola this time - really, the guesthouse is the perfect base for the beaches, the river, the local towns, everything.
My fiancé and I stayed for a week at the Apalachicola Guest house. It was perfect. Within walking distance to everything Apalachicola has to offer. The home was very well kept and had everything you need! Dealing with Kathy was a pleasure as well. I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone looking to Apalachicola for vacation. We will definitely be planning another trip to stay at this wonderful home!
Once again we had a great stay at the Apalach Guest House! The house in perfectly located downtown and its always clean and neat. We already have plans to stay there again next year.
Everything to do in, on, above, below, and around the water, (fresh and salt) is nearby. Shopping is a breeze and within walking distance as are some of the best restaurants in the panhandle of Florida. Seafood and oysters make Apalachicola famous. This is a wonderful spot to rent a golf cart and spend a day or an evening slowly taking in some wonderful views.
It is one of the most relaxing areas you will experience. A great place to catch up on family and conversations that center cheerfulness. The visitors' center is a couple of blocks away and they can provide you with a plethora of 'must see' and do locations. Artists, photographers, fishermen, bird watchers, boaters, kayak enthusiasts flock to this location.
