I live next door to Sea View Mews with my family. I used to be a full time secondary science teacher in Sheffield but took voluntary redundancy to pursue my dream of living close to the sea and being able to walk my dogs on Filey beach every day! My other property is Roobarb's Retreat at The Bay, Filey which I manage alongside Sea View Mews.
Zoe purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Zoe chose Reighton
This property is very special to me as I saw if for sale about three years before I bought it. Someone else bought it whilst I was thinking about it and then when it came on the market again and I was ready to move, I had to have it. After a lengthy time selling my house (and a chain of eight) in Sheffield we arrived in August 2015. The property is surrounded by fields on three sides and is situated quite a way back from the main road. It is very private but the best thing about it are the views at the back which are quite breathtaking and they are always a tonic for the soul. A walk down the lane to the beach on a sunny day is a wonderful treat for anyone.
What makes this Cottage unique
Sea View Mews is a great place for a restful holiday. You can sunbathe on your private patio or find a sheltered spot on Reighton Sands. However, there is plenty to do and loads of places close by to visit either by foot, bicycle, bus (there is a regular service close to the house) or car. If you like horse riding there are stables close by which enable you to have a gallop on the beach when the tide is out. Filey is a great base for sailing and surfing is popular off this beach and at Cayton Bay further up the coast. The Yorkshire Wolds are quiet and scenic and the inspiration for artists such as David Hockney. Further afield you can visit The Yorkshire Moors and Whitby then, Dalby Forest and The Yorkshire Dales. York is just over an hour's drive away. You are welcome to use my membership card for The Bay's swimming pool and gym which is only five minutes drive away.

Great place, loved the games room.
Excellent property, excellent location!!
We had a fantastic weekend at Sea View Mews, the house was lovely, very clean, and had everything we needed. To top it off it has fantastic views! The kids adored the games room and the location is perfect for visiting the beach!! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
Lovely cottage, great facilities, great owner = lovely week!
Had a lovely week here. The cottage is lovely, full of character and very quiet with a sea view. The children loved the games room; the snooker table and table tennis both went down well! Had a couple of walks down to Reighton Sands beach which is about 15 minutes from the cottage, recommend the beach cafe there. Filey is about 5 minutes' drive away, great base also to do Scarborough and Bridlington. Recommend the Piebald Inn in Hunmanby too which does the best pies we've ever had.
Zoe was a perfect host, she provided all the directions and advice we needed both before the holiday and during our stay.
Would definitely recommend.
Great location, good sea views, and kids loved the play room
We had a great few days staying at Zoe's place. We were warmly welcomed with some Parkin laid out for our arrival. It was really nice being to walk/run down to the sea across the fields, and visit towns like Bridlington. John Bull sweet factory a must if you have kids.
The property itself was very clean, nicely made up beds/towels etc, Zoe obviously puts in a lot of effort to ensure everything is ready for arriving guests.
There's a garage attached to the property in which there is table tennis, pool and table football - the kids took full advantage and really enjoyed playing all the games.
The Piebald pub is only a couple of miles away and well worth a visit, you can stick to the classics or take a chance to try something more adventurous from the extensive menu.
Overall, this was a great base for a family of 4 spending a few days and I would highly recommend it.
A lovely homely cottage with a fantastic view.
We had a lovely stay here despite it being a difficult family time. The cottage is beautifully decorated with lovely furniture and interesting pictures and ornaments. We really felt at home. Waking up to the view from the living room was amazing each morning. The cottage had everything we could need for a very comfortable stay. The games room was a bonus. Also the owner was lovely and very helpful.
The walk to the beach was great too. The cottage was very well located for the surrounding areas of Filey and Bridlington. Can't wait to go back again some day.
Thank you for choosing Sea View Mews for your holiday and for leaving it in great order. I look forward to welcoming you all back again soon.
Lovely cottage with tremendous views
A friendly and informative host welcomed us to a well set up, delightfully decorated cottage annex to her home. We had a terrific 8 day stay and have recommended Sea View Mews to friends and family.
Sea View Mews is a short walk from Reighton Sands in Filey Bay and the North Sea. You can walk down the lane and across the fields to the beach or take your car to a free car park next to the beach. A short car ride away is the famous RSPB site Bempton Cliffs which is also accessible by foot if you like a long walk along the cliffs close to the house.
The owner has a house at The Bay Holiday Village, Filey which is a mile away by car. You can use the owner's card to access the 20m swimming pool and gym.
Cyclists will be happy to know the Mews is close to wonderful, quiet minor roads which are perfect for long bike rides (The Wolds Way) Mountain bikes can be hired in Dalby Forest a short drive away.
Filey is a ten minute drive away by car or a 40 minute walk along the beach when the tide is out. Bridlington is a ten minute drive in the opposite direction and Scarborough is a 20 minute drive away if you like the theatre and cricket. Alan Ayckbourn is based at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. The National Trust own some very unspoilt coastline south of Scarborough at Cayton Bay. A walk here is an absolute delight. North of Scarborough, Hayburn Wyke is a beach only accessible by foot using part of the Cleveland Way.
Geologists will love looking for fossils on Reighton Sands where recently a whole plesiosaur, or 'sea dragon' was found (now located in the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough.
