My family purchased this property when I was a small child. This is the second home built on the property making use of the river frontage and the privacy of this hidden location.
Suzanne Knapp purchased this house in 1961
As a B&B, you get the best home made food, both for breakfast, and the wine/cheese in the evening. Additional catering is available for special birthday/anniversary dinners. I want my guests to feel very cared for.
Small, secluded, getaway, get pampered, enjoy watching the farm critters, chickens, guineas, ducks and kitties. Lots of wildlife too. No 'B&B' curfews.
Spent 3 days, 2 nights in paradise!! Lola-Lucile B&B is a great get away to the country yet so close to town and wineries!! Suzanne fed us and made us feel that her home was our home. She indulged us with her fresh food from the garden and allowed us full use of her kitchen to cook. She made us the most wonderful snack before we left to hike then packed up bags of trail mix. Upon returning she fed us brunch which included the best Frittata I have ever had. After a day of wine tasting we returned to a B'day party that Suzanne planned with help from my Husband on what I liked. She fed us and our friends-even making 2 home made chocolate cakes!! The food was amazing but the dish that I cannot get out of my mind was her Butternut Squash soup. So delicious. We went to bed feeling like it had been Thanksgiving. Each morning we had coffee overlooking the Walla-Walla river which runs behind her property. We saw Blue Herrings, Owls, ducks and of course her sweet cats. I cannot think of a better place to have been to celebrate my b'day with friends. In fact it was hard to leave yet I know we will be back!!

Thank you so much for choosing my place for your visit to Walla Walla wine country. Anyone can choose a hotel-- when people choose my farm, I want them to feel like family. My goal is to create an environment of great food and wine along with relaxation and good conversation. What a treat it was to see the four of you relish the farm experience, even to the point of getting up extra early in the morning and watching the wild life along the river. I loved catering the birthday dinner with my very special niece helping. Thanks for involving us in your wine tastings as we were cooking! What an enjoyable experience. I hope you can come again in the next few years and stay longer. I'll find some more places you can go hiking that aren't too far from town. And I'll have an extra special Habanero recipe for Jeff!
Suzanne was a terrific host for our stay at her bed and breakfast. She is all about local sourcing for her meals and we were treated royally. Everything was absolutely fresh, seasonal, and delicious! The Lucile Suite was very well appointed and comfortable, the bathroom was particularly sweet with walk-in shower, sliding doors out onto the patio, beautiful tile work and sky lights. We enjoyed our morning coffee sitting on two Adirondack chairs by the river. All in all a perfect stay. We can't wait to go back!
Staying with Suzanne was the BEST B & B experience we have ever had! The warm hospitality, the incredibly comfortable accommodations, the soothing Walla Walla river that we could hear from our room, the unbelievable breakfasts Suzanne made for us, great coffee (super important), and THE CHICKENS!!! Did I mention the chickens??? FRESH EGGS gathered and prepared in the morning! There is nothing better -- it was like staying on a plush farm!
Suzanne was so interesting and knowledgeable I wish I could have just hung out and visited with her the entire time -- but we were there to wine taste! Suzanne did everything possible to make our stay perfect. We had wine tasted in the area before, but Suzanne suggested some new wineries and even went to the trouble to call them and make appointments while we were in the midst of our trek, and communicate all the information! They turned out to be new favorites!
The home was originally designed for her aging mother, so the space has very clean and modern amenities, but the bathroom sink is low and the glass shower could accommodate a wheelchair, so it would be perfect for kids or handicapped -- good to know, because we plan to return again and again until we ourselves need wheelchairs!
More on her cooking: she sourced fresh produce from neighbors and surrounds, and planned her menus accordingly. Fresh bread, fresh fruit, caramelized bacon waffles, omelets with all of our favorite ingredients as spicy as we liked -- we were set for a long day of wine tasting after those hearty breakfasts. And we returned to the place smelling of freshly baked bread and rhubarb pie from the rhubarb that was soaking in the sink in the morning.
I feel terrible that it took me so long to review this wonderful VRBO. Upon returning home, a relative had a medical emergency that took me out of town for a couple of weeks, and when I returned the review notices said that my time had expired to review! I didn't know I could review directly from the posting -- so Suzanne -- forgive my tardiness! My husband and I had not had a vacation in awhile, and you made it PERFECT! We will return for sure, and can't wait to stay there again and take advantage or your splendid hospitality. Say hello to all the chickens for us!
We wanted a relaxing getaway and that is what we got. Comfortable bed to nap on, a soothing river to drink hot chocolate by, and a wonderful home base as we leisurely explored Walla Walla. All those things combined would have made this a wonderful stay. What made this the perfect stay, however, was the sweet hostess and her delicious talent for cooking. I felt like we were visiting a great friend or aunt who did not want to let you leave hungry. If nothing else, think of this as not missing one of the best places to eat in town that happens to include an overnight stay in a beautiful home. My only regret is that I forgot to get the recipe for her wonderful bread. I guess I will have to go again!
Suzanne was an impeccable host, sharing her scratch cooking, love of Walla Walla, and knowledge of wonderful wineries and restaurants to visit. The B&B is warm, inviting, and beautiful. Her property is lovely as well- a little country paradise just outside town. Suzanne was also kind enough to watch our good natured dog while we explored local wineries- we all had a lovely getaway and can't say enough about her hospitality.
Our weekend in Walla Walla was very pleasant thanks, in large part, to Suzanne and her lovely home. She was an extremely gracious host and a delight to talk with. Her cooking was delicious, and our suite was lovely, clean, and well-appointed. We highly recommend it!
What a magnificent utopian experience my husband and I had visiting w/Suzanne for a 1 nite stay at her bed and breakfast. It was ultimate perfection regarding the ambiance and hospitality she extended to us. We were so comfortable being there. The bedroom and bath area were outstanding; roomy, romantic and private even though there were sliding doors in both bedroom and off the shower area of the bathroom. The towels were luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. Her area was beautifully but naturally landscaped with the whole atmosphere very serene, tranquil and woodsy. And it smelled that good earthy smell. The birds and chickens were entertaining and I want to mention that there were rocking chairs galore and a swing by the river. Our experience was just like visiting home. Her culinary skills were superb, too.
We will truly cherish our time there and do want to go back.
Home is in the country across from Basel Cellars Winery. 6 acres on the Walla Walla River and Yellowhawk Creek. Chickens, ducks, guineas, and kitties live here along with many wild creatures. I ask guests to be respectful of my home and all the critters on the farm.
