We spent a long time researching the area with no prior prejudices, or favourites, so that you need look no further!
Le Manoir De St. Marcel is absolutely in the right geocentric location for your visit to the Dordogne!
To the West you have the vineyards of Bergerac, & further on, St. Emillion.
To the South, just a 15 minute ride to the River Dordogne, with all the chateaux, forts & canoeing it has to offer.
To the East Sarlat, & the popular sites of the Dordogne.
Finally, 20 minutes to the North is Perigueux, a wonderful old city.
Yes! - You will find Le Manoir De St. Marcel is ideally located for your holiday. - Many guests return year after year. - They know!
Le Manoir De St. Marcel rests on a South facing side of a valley.
The views across the valley which is mostly wooded, make for a relaxing ambience.
The 5 properties are nestled around a grassy quadrangle.
Built in the local sandstone, they form a picturesque backdrop for your holiday.
Well away from public roads they provide a beautiful, safe, environment for you, your family, & dog.
My wife and I were invited guests of a couple already in the Le Manoir as we were travelling to UK from Spain , so we had the opportunity of 8 days in the Dordogne with friends.
If you want peace and quite in a luxury setting this is it.
It is clear that Peter and Nancy will always go the extra mile to make sure their guests have a perfect holiday.
They even laid on a welcome bbq for all the properties and guests at Le Manoir.
Pool, Gardens, and Properties great standard and very French in style.
I stayed with my family at Le Manoir de St Marcel complex in La Petite Maison for a week in early July. The property is well appointed and has 3 bedrooms with a secluded garden (inc BBQ) with wifi throughout. The large pool is shared with 3 other properties. There are plenty of sun loungers and we were lucky during our stay that we had it virtually to ourselves.
The owners Peter and Nancy made us all very welcome and were always at hand if needed for help and advice especially of places to visit. We were fortunate to be staying when the village organised a food market where people from the whole district attended. The highlights (other than the food and atmosphere) were the Portuguese singer who performed with her band plus the guys selling the wine who were drinking as much as they sold.
Unfortunately the village restaurant has recently closed so we had to travel but found a fantastic restaurant in Tremolat called Le Bistrot de la Place.
We had a few days out which included Chateau Montbazillac where we did some wine tasting, Issigeac Market and Sarlat.
Le Manoir is an excellent venue for parties of 10 or more. The facilities within the house make for a very comfortable stay. Two log fires, plenty of hot water, good mix of bedroom accommodation, extremely large living area with large dining table, well fitted out kitchen.
Our hosts had provided Xmas decorations and the Xmas tree was absolutely stunning.
Like any vacation property location is very important. St Marcel Du Perigord is a quiet village but in easy reach of St Alvere and Lalinde from which you can obtain most things you require. I would highly recommend the property and location plus the owners hospitality and friendliness made for a most enjoyable stay. Will be back soon
Great location, perfect company, and lovely hosts. This is the ideal holiday destination and we would not hesitate to recommend. We will certainly be returning. As Christmas time many of the restaurants round and about were closed but the bars in Lalinde were hospitable. As 10 happy punters in La Manoir everything was catered for.
We have been visiting Le Manoir for 15 years,at various times of the year, so we must love it! The property is situated near a lovely village in the most beautiful part of France. This year there was just two of us so we stayed in the Le Pigeonnier, but in the past, to accommodate family parties, we have stayed in the other gites; all full of character. A great welcome is always guaranteed from Peter and Nancy who do all they can to ensure that their guests have a wonderful stay, and are aware of the opportunities to enjoy the area. Le Manoir also seems to attract nice, friendly people who appreciate this fantastic place.
We spent eight glorious years holidaying at Le Manoir de St Marcel. We enjoyed our time there so much that each year we returned we extended our stay until we settled on an annual 5 weeks, all through the summer. Glorious!
Whether it’s just you and the kids or a group of 13 it is the perfect place to spent quality time with friends and family. The owners, Peter and Nancy are very friendly and welcoming and especially generous with their time in making your stay perfect as possible. The Manoir is large, light and airy and well equipped for all your holiday needs and every time time we arrived the place was spotless. It boasts a large kitchen and enormous reception room to entertain in. An outside terrace spans the length of the whole house with wonderful views of the countryside. We spent countless evenings barbecuing on the terrace accompanied by breathtaking sunsets. A pristine refreshing pool big enough for everyone provides the ideal spot for a cool down, with sun loungers for full sunning but with plenty of options for shade and long afternoon snoozes. While the property easily handles a group of 13 without feeling overcrowded at all there are also plenty of areas to catch some private time, on a lawn, under a tree or in the woods.
St Marcel itself is a beautiful village with a variety of easy to follow signed walks for those who want to take a stroll or a run. The village also boasts a gourmet restaurant, Lou Peyrol where you will be looked after very well indeed.
There is plenty of interest all under an hour away and most just 20 minutes away including canoeing, castles, day markets, night markets, river swims, karting and bowling.
Peter and Nancy the owners hold a BBQ on a Friday night in the summer for all the guests which is real treat if you fancy it. We have met some very interesting people on these evenings and it’s a great to see all the kids get together.
If you’re looking for a holiday to remember that ticks all the boxes for everyone I recommend Le Manoir de St Marcel.
We loved it so much we bought the house next door! Maybe see you there.
Families with younger children will find plenty to amuse the children without leaving the estate.
Canoeing on the Dordogne is popular with older children (and their parents!).
Centrally placed between Bergerac. Issigeac Sarlat & Périgueux.
Easy reach from Bergerac airport, & close to St. Alvere & Lalinde.
There is a wealth of historic towns, markets & other attractions to visit.
- From Le Manoir De St Marcel, you can stroll to the restaurant in St Marcel, where you will enjoy 'Haute-cuisine' in a very child friendly environment.
