About Patricia Smith

I live with my husband David, our dogs Ventoux and Toby, our cat Lily . We both love the Dorset coast, the Isle of Purbeck in particular. We enjoy tootling round in our VW camper , hiking the coastal path, boating, canoeing and generally take advantage of living in the relaxed atmosphere of this area. I am very proud of this beautiful area of Dorset and have been lucky to have always called it home.

Patricia Smith purchased this bungalow in 2005

Why Patricia Smith chose Purbeck

We have lived in this area for most of our life and find the relaxed atmosphere of living by the coast in such a beautiful are hard to beat. I think that most guests who stay at Pinetop feel the same.

.

What makes this bungalow unique

All the living area and garden are on one level. Pinetop is in a tranquil residential area but you can be in Poole in 5 minutes and the beaches in 15 minutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My wife and I had a great holiday at Pinetop, a real home from home. Literally everthing we need is there, even fresh milk for our arrival . We spent most days on the beach at Sandbanks and had some tasty meals on The Quay in the evening. Could not believe a whole week of sunshine. Thanks for your hospitality Patricia......and the toothbrush !

Sunny times at pinetops

  • 5 of 5

With a lovely warm welcome from the owner Patricia as always,we have stayed at this cottage for a week, for a number of years . The cottage is always clean and tidy on arrival.I have found the location to be easy access to local shops and the beach. we always take our mother who is less able to get around and theirs enough room for the three of us and our dog. We would recommend this to anyone who is looking for quiet location.

Beautiful !!!

  • 5 of 5

What a gem we found here!!! stayed for Christmas & New year and had the most amazing time.

Pinetop offered the ideal base for our stay with loads of beautiful places we wanted to visit on your door step. The cottage was so pretty and immaculately clean, with all the home from home luxuries you could need. We really felt comfortable and cosy in the cottage to the point where we didn't want to go home. Poole is a beautiful place with so may places to visit for adults & children, the owners where there as soon as we arrived and were so friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this little beauty, so glad we chose to spend our precious time here as a family.

Not what we had expected

  • 1 of 5

Well was supposed to be a child friendly property but certainly wasn't. Had to remove so many trinkets etc that was almost like redecorating the house. There was nowhere to put up a travel cot so had to improvise. Had to fight to get towels and linen even though was advertised as such. Landlord tried to intimidate me by quoting the booking confirmation but I stood firm. Also booked with WiFi but seems this property doesn't have any. Would go elsewhere next time

Owner's Response: It is so difficult to reply to this unpleasant and untruthful review Every so often i suppose this can happen.. So the best thing is to address the points. As you can see in our property description we make up the beds and provide tea towels etc but not personnal towels, neither do we have wifi. I can assure guests that we enjoy welcoming them and are very friendly and helpful in all cases and have been so for the past 12 years. The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped for your stay. This is clearly shown in our photos.

Very cosy and great location

  • 4 of 5

The booking process was very easy and Patricia was very attentive. She met us when we arrived with the key and showed us around the house. It's very simple and on one level but cosy and modern and a great base for exploring Dorset. Everything you could possible need from kitchen utensils to a hair dryer to dvds and cds is available, and there was tea (5 different types), coffee, milk and biscuits for us.

It's a short walk away from a Co-op, huge pet shop (which is like a zoo visit if you have children!) and small row of shops, and a pub. (I didn't feel comfortable exploring any of these after dark however, especially the pub!), and a short drive from the lovely Upton Country Park, which whiles away a couple of hours and has a very nice cafe.

It I was to say anything negative about the property, it would be that it needs decluttering. Every surface has some kind of ornament on it, and the bedroom dressing table has 3 mirrors, teddy bears, and other trinkets. I know this adds to the cosiness, but it means there's no space to put any of your own posessions down. I had to move a chest of drawers to get to a plug socket to charge my phone at night - surely something everyone needs nowadays? Once I'd found space for my clothes, I went to put my suitcase on top of the wardrobe, but even that had an antique sewing machine on it! All 3 shelves in the bathroom had things on them. Where do I put my own wash items? In the kitchen every cupboard is jammed full so there's nowhere to put any food. We kept it in a bag on the floor. This is a bugbear of mine whenever I stay in self-catering properties. I hope it's taken as the light suggestion in which it's intended. We had a lovely comfortable stay apart from this and would recommend it to friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, however it has left me some what baffled. I feel i would like to point out that this is a lovely safe residential area were we have lived for 30 years and has been appreciated by our many guests for the past 12 years . The cottage is not of a minimalist style and there are items of interior decor that add to the atmosphere but in no way can they be referred to as clutter. One only has to look at the photos to see this. There are sockets on both sides of the bed so am not sure why the phone charger could not make use of these. The kitchen is well equipped and has lots of space for provisions etc so again cannot make sense of the review comment

Like a home from home. Lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Really lovely little cottage. Friendly owner who makes you feel very welcome, and tea, coffee and biscuits upon arrival.Comfortable beds and very clean and tidy accommodation. We don't drive so the buses stopping at the end of the road was perfect. Lovely walk (3m) into Poole along the walk/cycle path, most of it through woods and by the sea. All in all perfect!!!
