|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Relax at this quaint, but spacious, 1950's log cabin hidden in the Ponderosa pines at nearly 8,000 feet.
You won't want to leave the front porch with its view of Redondo Peak and regular visits from hummingbirds. Or relax in the hammock which hangs between two trees and read a book. It can't get more relaxing than that.
Four bedrooms sleep eight comfortably. But which bedroom will you choose? The Log Cabin Room? Flower room? Bird room? or Western room? They are all decorated just for you.
Within a mile of trout fishing, hiking, a restaurant and convenience store, and only a few miles from Jemez Falls, Spence Hot Springs, Soda Dam, Fenton Lake and the town of Jemez Springs. So much to do, but you may just want to sit on the porch and never leave.
This newly updated cabin is stocked with Internet, games, puzzles, toys, record player and records, iPod dock, and flat screen TV with 150 DVDs to watch. A land line phone with unlimited calls within the US is available since cell phone service is very sketchy in the area (hope you remember how to use a rotary dial phone).
Property includes a Propane grill, microwave, refrigerator and two fireplaces - one electric and one wood burning. Also a washer and dryer are available for use, but there is no dishwasher (remember, it is a 1950's cabin.)
Snuggled at the end of a neighborhood, we ask that you respect our neighbors by keeping noise down.
A perfect place for family reunions, group gatherings or just for one couple to get away from it all and listen to the pines. Oh, did I mention the pine fragrance is intoxicating?
You may see elk or deer as they mosey through the area. But, don't leave food outside or the bears may make a visit too.
I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduated from OU, then was a public school music teacher for 20+ years. We moved to South Dakota for 5 years where my husband was a Dean at South Dakota State Unversity and I worked as a community coach, before landing permanently in Rio Rancho, NM in 2011.
As a child, my family had a cabin in Missouri that we escaped to on a regular basis. It has always a place to rejuvenate. Now that I'm a New Mexico resident, I can't get back to Missouri very often, and missed having that relaxing getaway.
So, we bought this charming log cabin in the Jemez Mountains to do just that. After fixing it up, we decided it needed to be shared with others and are renting The Pines out during the times we aren't enjoying the amazing Jemez Moutains ourselves.
I currently own a photography business, a music publishing company and recently finished my first novel.
We hope you will consider this relaxing place as much as we do.
Martha Landes purchased this cabin in 2014
The Pines is unique in that it feels secluded, but is fairly close to others and only 50 beautiful miles from the hub of Rio Rancho and Bernalillo. Only 60 miles from Albuquerque and 40 miles from Los Alamos.
The Jemez mountains have so many amazing places to explore. I could go out daily and do just that.
This particular property is in the perfect location - At 7,850 feet elevation, it's 15 degrees cooler than in Albuquerque with no traffic noise, and green of trees surrounding the property.
The cozy feel of 'Grandma's house' is what hit me when I first saw this place - with the charming 1950's bones. After updating the property, it is still reminiscent of the old days, but with most of the modern conveniences we are accustomed to now.
We love sitting on the front porch with a drink in hand visiting and watching nature. Or lie on the hammock beneath the tall pines as they sway. It's very therapeutic.
Although the cabin would comfortably fit eight people, there were just two of us and we had a fantastic time. It's spacious, quiet, and has a big fireplace to enjoy cool November evenings. We explored the Jemez Valley extensively, from the caldera to the pueblo, and found it to be simply astonishingly beautiful. Everyone we met in town was friendly and welcoming, and we had this terrific place to come back to each day, with its books, comprehensive library of movies, and Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl! (The ONLY way to listen to it...!)
Thanks for a lovely space to enjoy this wonderfully scenic part of New Mexico!
My father and I stayed in this beautiful cabin for a week in October and loved every minute. Great place for a family vacation and the cabin has everything you would need to have a fabulous trip away from home (including amazingly comfortable beds). The location is great and in a very quite and peaceful neighborhood. Plan on staying again next year!!
Our family wanted to spend some time in a remote, relaxed location that offered comfortable lodging, cool temperatures and lots of scenic hiking. "The Pines" was the perfect solution to our search. All three generations (grandparents/parents/grandson - 3 yr) were delighted with the spacious facilities and with the remote setting. Over four days we were able to enjoy many picturesque sights in the area as well as spend a fun day in Santa Fe. Especially memorable was sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbird feeding frenzy (15 or more birds at a time). They could easily drain the full feeder in one day! We also saw "close up" a large herd of elk near the Valles Caldera.
Martha, the owner, provided a great deal of pre-arrival information which helped us to come prepared for our time in the Jemez. The Pines offered just the change of pace we were looking for from our professional and everyday stresses. Yes, we would do it again!
We loved our time at the Pines! Martha worked with us to insure we had a great trip! It was beautiful property and a cozy cabin that comfortably slept 8 and had everything we needed to cook with and relax with (great record collection and turntable!). Beautiful view from the porch and hummingbirds galore! Close to Valles Caldera, the East Fork of the Jemez (La Concha trailhead), Jemez Falls, Hot Srings; it was just where we wanted it to be. It was at most a fifteen minute drive to go hiking, rock climbing, and fly fishing! Would definitely stay here again!
I would whole heartedly recommend The Pines to everyone. The cabin is amazing and the customer service above and beyond. Thank you for making our Jemez family reunion even better by providing such excellent accommodations.
I took my sister and my three year old daughter to The Pines for our spring break vacation. We had a wonderful time, the rooms were unique and we each had one that fit us. My daughter loved the wagon room and the selection of toys available. I really enjoyed having a wood burning fireplace and an outdoor grill. We were able to use the cabin as a jumping off point to visit Santa Fe and theGrandCanyon. Overall our stay was a solid 10/10. I look forward to returning with my husband.
Hike to natural Hot springs within a 5 minute drive. The Jemez River is a great place for trout fishing - only a mile away. Fenton lake is only 8 miles away. Many, many natural things you must see. Soda Dam, Jemez Falls, Valles Caldera volcano area and all kinds of hiking opportunities.
