Harmony and Melody House are two connecting but secluded hideaways in the Tunica Hills at St. Francisville. Perched on 7 acres and separated by a 150' long bridge and 60' high wooded vistas, these cottages are 2200 and 2000 sq ft respectively. Enjoy one home or both, alone with family, friends, or host an office meeting, crawfish boil, yoga weekend, all enjoying the flora and fauna you have not experience in Louisiana. Wildlife is abundant with festivals, rodeos, garden tours, plantations, scenic parks and wildlife reserves, all at your fingertips. Call us to book your next relaxing weekend in the most unique area in the region. Summers are cooler under the canopy and winters are warmer with the many indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
I moved to St. Francisville in 1996 and had the opportunity to renovate over 11 beautiful properties, some historic, some simple, all with history and the care of this charming and special countryside. I sold the B&B to a favorite customer who improved it more than i could have imagined.
Vincent Chatelain purchased this house in 1999
This area is home of Ouida Plantation, originally purchased by in 1997, and vacant for 75 years prior. After a total renovation, Ouida and its' cemetary sits quitely down the road. Harmony House was a caretakers' cottage style built for Ouida in 1999, then turned into a deep woods rental. It was built among much fanfare as the first 'new' property ever admitted on Audubon Pilgrimage in 1999 for one day, but.... over 3000 people came to tour in 3 days, making it the most successful pilgrimage the historical society has ever put on, with even Governor Murphy Foster and our first lady visiting his great grandmothers' home place and the house that Senator Foster married her in 1895. History runs deep here.
This home is a modern gem surrounded by seven acres of trees, decks, bridges and ravines. It is truly a unique property that can adapt to the specific type of rental you are looking for. As it is, you have a relaxing weekend getaway like no other. With additional seating and lighting, this property is a beautiful backdrop for a party.
House and grounds were beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks for the hospitality. Paul
A DELIGHTFUL stay with friends renting Harmony House and Melody House together. Charming, comfortable and a perfect setting for a relaxing visit. Definitely an exceptional property in design and features. Highly recommend this pair of homes.
Words can not describe how peaceful and relaxing this place is. Everything we needed and more was avaliable for us to use. Great for families, couples, and friends looking to enjoy nature in style and comfort. Highly recommend it.
Once again, my group of travelers had a wonderful stay at The Bridge. Our group of 10 rented both houses for a great time of fellowship in a quiet serene setting. We toured St. Francisville Friday and Saturday and then made our way to Angola for the rodeo, museum and tour. I left a few things and before I could get home, Keith texted about the items; very willing to take care of them until I could return.
Should we decide to do the Angola Rodeo again, this is the PERFECT place. Thanks!
We had a wonderful stay! The house and grounds were beautiful. The grandkids loved the sleeping nooks and we relaxed, explored and enjoyed visiting with each other. Clark State Park and the Pond store were just a short drive away. The screened in porch and outdoor shower and covered gazebo all were utilized. My husband and grandson actually slept on the porch both nights. We are already planning to return and stay longer!
Thanks so much for providing a great house.
(If the kitchen had a measuring cup we would have given it a 5 star rating!)
The evening we arrived we started off sipping Mohitos on the large but comfy screened porch as we listened to the sound of rain hitting the tin roof and watched the lightening light up the canopy of trees surrounding us. As the temperature dropped we warmed ourselves by sinking deep in the day beds flanking the porch"s fireplace that was already stocked with wood. Once the drinks and thunderstorm had relaxed us to the point of sleep we climbed into the jacuzzi tub to wake ourselves up, if nothing more than to say good night to our new found wonderland. When morning came we felt a little guitly for having slept so late but the heavy drapes had concealed the sun's first light. If not for the convenience of the fully stocked coffee bar and excitement over exploring the grounds we might have stayed in bed longer. Once wide awake we ventured out, crossing the wooden bridge over the big raven that bordered the house. Nature trails ran in every direction, too many for us to tackle in one day. Next it was time to shop so we quickly cleaned up, pausing a little to endulge in the outside shower. St Francisville was full of things to do. Antique stores, art galleries, and botanical gardens consumed the rest of our day. Day two, time to relax, enjoy, and eat! Not a problem since there was a complete kitchen with everything a homemade chef could expect, satellite television/DVD, and a library to back it up. The whole place, inside and out, is piped for sound which made enjoying the surroundings so much more remarkable with the right music. When the time came to leave several days later we had to stop pretending that the world was perfect and say good bye to our new get away. We can"t wait to go back and pick up where we left off.
Sightseeing 'the Old South', golfing difficult courses, playing blackjack, is all within 30 minutes away. You are deep in plantation country. Do not miss the museum at Angola, the falls of Clark Creek, the drives through the country side to Natchez, and St. Francisville. Stop in nearby Woodville for lunch and visit the square for antiques and the old courthouse.
