About Vincent Chatelain
I moved to St. Francisville in 1996 and had the opportunity to renovate over 11 beautiful properties, some historic, some simple, all with history and the care of this charming and special countryside. I sold the B&B to a favorite customer who improved it more than i could have imagined.
Vincent Chatelain purchased this House in 1999
Why Vincent Chatelain chose Saint Francisville
This area is home of Ouida Plantation, originally purchased by in 1997, and vacant for 75 years prior. After a total renovation, Ouida and its' cemetary sits quitely down the road. Harmony House was a caretakers' cottage style built for Ouida in 1999, then turned into a deep woods rental. It was built among much fanfare as the first 'new' property ever admitted on Audubon Pilgrimage in 1999 for one day, but.... over 3000 people came to tour in 3 days, making it the most successful pilgrimage the historical society has ever put on, with even Governor Murphy Foster and our first lady visiting his great grandmothers' home place and the house that Senator Foster married her in 1895. History runs deep here.

Very nice place for a weekend getaway. House had everything we needed. We were able to have our morning coffee and “gab” session on the great screened-in front porch where it was unbelieveably comfortable for the end of June in Louisiana. Had a good time at Grandmother’s Buttons (where we left with great treasures) and enjoyed lunch at The Myrtles Restaurant.
Cousin Trip 2019
We had a wonderful time at the Harmony House is St. Francisville. The weather was chilly so we didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful outdoor space. Everything was great and the owner was great to work with. We ate at The Myrtles new restaurant and toured the plantation which was enjoyed by all. We went to Angola Prison and toured the Museum. Left there and headed to New Roads for lunch. Enjoyed the quaint town and shops. Came back to enjoy the fireplace and share family memories. The house was everything that was promised. Sure hated to leave the last day because the sun came out. Enjoyed the small shops in St Francisville then ate at The Francis which I would highly recommend. The cousins came from Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Thanks for sharing your rental so we could make lots of memories!!!
Great cozy place to spend time with family
The atmosphere at the Harmony House was perfect for the quaint pre Christmas getaway that I was looking for. Eight of us slept comfortably and we had a wonderful time outside at all the various sitting areas. We loved the huge fire pit outdoors and all the garden lights created a hallmark type of ambiance. Best fire we ever made!! We even had to bring out a guitar!! The kitchen was extremely well stocked, having some little incidentals that we forgot to bring! We hope to make this an annual family trip!!
We are happy to have accommodated such a successful trip at this special time of year. Thanks for the business and hope to see you all soon.
We will certainly be back!
The was decorated beautifully. We had an awesome time.
Sightseeing 'the Old South', golfing difficult courses, playing blackjack, is all within 30 minutes away. You are deep in plantation country. Do not miss the museum at Angola, the falls of Clark Creek, the drives through the country side to Natchez, and St. Francisville. Stop in nearby Woodville for lunch and visit the square for antiques and the old courthouse.
