I live in Baltimore MD during the year and with my grandmother at 95 Main St. during the summer. My family has been in Castine for 10 generations and I recently bought this house as an investment property and potential retirement location.
Christian purchased this apartment in 2013
This is the perfect apartment for the budget minded traveler. The apartment is rented to MMA students during the year, it is well taken care of, but is a low-cost rental option.
Walk to everywhere!
We spent a week for the summer vacation there. The apartment is well-maintained, clean and quiet. The landlord is very nice and provides all the helps you need when you are away from home. The laundry is also free to use. The small town is pretty and people are friendly.
I fully recommend it.
Beautiful quiet town! We enjoyed visiting the Museum in Castine and the local stores. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to eat at any of the restaurants there. The apartment was great for the the price. Centrally located to other towns in the area. I would recommend this to anyone who is traveling on a budget.
The apartment was great - Christian has done a very nice job utilizing the space. It was also very nice and clean! I will be back! Do be aware, it's an old building, so steps are steep.
From the minute you step in the door, it felt charming, comfy and homey. It had painted wood floors and was immaculately clean. The WiFi worked well. Christian, the landlord, was excellent about immediately responding to messages. A sudden storm blew down a tree, knocking out the power. Christian immediately checked out the damage, even inviting us to stay the night at his personal home. Although it was out-of-the-way, we didn't mind the extra miles because the town was charming, safe and very quiet. The Maine people are so welcoming and friendly, even offering us a free slice of blueberry pie.
This apartment was the perfect place to stay for our weekend away in Castine. The apartment was large and well appointed, and has actually been updated since the photos were taken. Building is quiet and very conveniently located on main street near restaurants and the water, and the check in process was as easy as could be. The one caution I would off is that the bed is very, very soft, so if you have a bad back this may be something to consider.
This is a wonderfully supplied well maintained classic old house in Castine ME. It was one unit in a home that has three other units but there was plenty of room in unit #3. Quiet and comfortable.
