The Traditional Quercy Stone Barn has been modernised and renovated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation.
Each of the four self contained gites at Le Poujols offer fully furnished and well equipped self catering accommodation for 2 - 5 persons.
Le Poujols is set in acres of private grounds, totally traffic free and very tranquil without being totally isolated. The village of Salviac is just 2 kilometres away.
The cottages share a lovely pool with terracing and wooden decking and which is both fenced and alarmed and which is furnished with loungers and parasols.
The accommodation ranges from 1 to 2 bedrooms. Each gite has an open plan Living Room/Diner/Kitchen, fully equipped for the perfect self catering holidayand a separate Shower with Hand Basin and WC.
A charcoal barbeque is provided, as is garden furniture for al-fresco dining. The small private area outside the gite is shaded.
The accommodation is set in Beautiful Extensive Private Grounds, there is plenty of space for children to run and play. The property is traffic free but not remote. It is set on a hill with stunning views across the surrounding countryside and towards the village of Salviac. The village has a selection of small shops, bakery, butchery, post office and bars. There are two restaurants in the Village.
The grounds have an area for football, badminton, and volleyball and we provide table tennis, boules and other outdoor play equipment for the enjoyment of our guests. There is also a play area for smaller children.
The covered communal barbeque area overlooks the pool and is perfect for relaxed, sociable evenings in the setting sun.
If you are tired after you journey down, why not arrange, in advance, a Meal on arrival? We can also provide breakfast, packed lunches and dinner at certain times of the year, please enquire when reserving.
Although our changeover day is Saturday during High Season, during other periods, our changeover day is flexible, so short stays of less than a week are possible, as are 10, 11 or 12 day stays. Please enquire by e mail.
We accept Long Lets during the Winter period, From October through to May, at a discounted rate. Please contact us for a quote.
This apartment is arranged on one level and has one double bedroom and one twin bedded room. There is a shower room with wc and a washing machine. The kitchen/dining area / lounge is open plan. It is comfortably furnished and fully equipped. This accommodation has central heating and is also suitable for spring and autumn breaks and long lets.

When we bought the property, the Stone Barn had already been converted into 4 Gites.
We spent our first winter redecorating, refurbishing, repainting and re furnishing and generally bringing them up to date.
We live here full time with our two sons, a pony and our two lovely friendly dogs, Frank and Betty (!) and two cats. We are both Londoners, real townies, and after 10 years, we still have to stop and listen to the silence.
Of course, we miss 'civilisation' but after two or three days in London, we long to get away from the traffic, the noise, the hustle and bustle and the grime and back to our clean air, our traffic free roads (no traffic lights for 20 kilometres!!!!) and our peace and quiet.
Running the gites was an eye-opener , although I am a qualified chef, we had no experience of this sort of enterprise and the business came ready made so we really hit the ground running. It took us a year or two to get into the swing of dealing with all that was involved, but I think we have got the hang of it now and we have several clients who come back time and time again so we must be doing something right.
We have met (and made friends with) a great many people from all over the world and this has been a hugely enriching experience.

We had holidayed in Rural France on several occasions, and were really taken with this area. It's green and undulating and fresh and peaceful and clean....... I could go on and on.
When we made the decision to move to France, we probably looked at 30 properties. This old stone farmhouse seemed to fit the bill perfectly and although we did a lot of work to upgrade the gites and then more work on the house, it now works for the whole family and we feel it was worth it.
We are close to a village with an all year community, which was very important to us, as our boys both went to school in Salviac and the locals have made us very welcome. The area is not densely populated but at the same time, we are not completely cut off. The shops still close for lunch for two hours, which takes some getting used to but, hey, we now embrace this very French tradition and do you know what? We think they have got it about right!
Even in the winter, when the trees are covered in frost, we can wrap ourselves in fleeces and sit outside in the morning with our coffee and crosissants and take in the breathtaking view from our terrace. We may not be earning city salaries, but this is priceless.
Great base for the many attractions in the area. Clean and tidy, with basic amenities, including a great shower and M&S bed linen!! Owners very friendly and helpful, but never intrusive. Good size pool and games area. Would visit again and recommend to others.

Thought we would try somewhere new, after searching many websites we came across Le Poujols, it looked lovely on the website and looked even better when we arrived, the gites were clean and tidy, the service from Teresa and Steve couldn't of been better. There was lots of space for the children to play so the field was very well maintained, the pool and pool area very clean & kept very tidy, I must also mention that the owners dogs could not of been more friendly & behaved. We loved it so much we will be booking again. Thanks again for making our experience one to remember.
Le Poujols is set in an area of outstanding natural Beauty both tranquil and traffic free, but not isolated. The gites are set within private elevated grounds with wonderful views across the countryside towards the village of Salviac. It is located on the borders of the departments Lot and Dordogne. A fabulous day out canoeing on the Dordogne is just 15 minutes away by car.
The Dordogne river and all its attractions is just 12 kilometres to the north with canoes, swimming and fishing. Domme, Le Roc Gageac, Beynac, Le Bugue and Rocamadour are all within a short drive. Sarlat with its lively saturday market is 25 kilometres to the north and the medieval walled town of Gourdon with its own weekly market is 13 kilometres to the east.
This area is famous for its gastronomic delights, foie gras, goats cheese and the world famous Cahors wine, the cosmopolitan town of Cahors is 30 minutes by car.
The pretty village of Salviac is just 3 kilometres, and has everything for your daily requirements, baker, butcher, bank, post office, mini supermarket bars and restaurants.
Tennis, golf and horse riding are available nearby and the property has direct access onto many miles of marked paths and routes for off road cycling and walking.
Other nearby activities include canoeing, winetasting, sightseeing, activity parks, chateaux, gardens, caves, leisure lakes and animal parks.

We do not charge for cleaning. Clients are expected to empty the fridge, leave the oven clean and take their rubbish to the poubelles. Should the property require what we think is exceptional cleaning, the sum of 50 euros will be deducted from the deposit.
We are not in a position to check the gite before you leave. We do a thorough check as we clean and prepare the gite for the next occupant. We will return the deposit within 14 days of departure, providing there is no damage to the property. Should we have to replace or repair anything, we will advise in advance before deducting from the deposit, and will supply receipts on request.
Payment equal to 25% will secure the booking, the balance is to be paid 6 weeks before arrival. Payment may be made by bank transfer or by cheque. Cheque payments must be cleared before the property can be occupied.
