The Bee Hive was built with family friendliness in mind. The home boasts 2200 s/f of living, 4500 under roof with 3 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. The kitchen is huge, designed for the gourmet cook with gas and electric ranges, two sinks, microwave, dish washer, spacious granite counter tops, with refrigerator freezer with ice maker. In the wash room there is a large pantry, another refrigerator with ice maker, two large freezers and washer and dryer. The floor plan is large and open with an extraordinary sound/entertainment system and a large dining area. There is an additional sound/entertainment system on the 1200 s/f screened patio which faces the 2000 s/f deck with a pool, overlooking White Sound. There is a Vonage phone and High Def Premium Direct TV in the den area as well as on the screened porch. There is also high speed wireless internet provided. There is a generator that provides 100% back up for the entire home which will keep the AC running, music flowing and the ice freezing when there is a power outage and it is on an automatic start/stop system in the event of power loss. There is also a back up water supply. There is lots of privacy and plenty of area for kids to run and play on the 31/2 acre grassed yard. The home was designed by the owner and exceeds all hurricane specs and construction requirements. There is tile throughout, two air conditioning units and 2 hot water heaters.
Master bedroom: Queen size bed with a Select Comfort-Sleep Number bed, large closet, ceiling-fan, en suite bathroom that has his/hers sinks, a separate toilet with a door and a huge shower. There is outdoor access to the screened patio/pool area from the master.
Bedroom 2: Located on the opposite end of the house from the master bedroom and next to bedroom number 3, it has a queen size Select-Comfort-Sleep Number bed, ceiling-fan, large closet, en suite bathroom that has his/hers sinks, a separate toilet with a door and a huge shower.
Bedroom 3: Perfect for the kids! There is a trundle bed and a separate twin bed. Three can sleep very comfortably in this room. There is a large closet, ceiling-fan, en suite bathroom with two sinks, huge shower and an adjacent half bath with access to the screened patio/pool area. Excellent for after pool showers from the patio!
Kitchen: There are both gas and electric ranges. The gas range is a commercial range top and has six burners with a commercial vent hood. There are two ovens, a microwave, two sinks, a refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, a dishwasher, and huge granite counter-tops for food prep, hors d' oeuvres, banquet spread or buffet. The kitchen was designed by a Cajun chef and commercial cookware is provided. The kitchen has every amenity and is fully furnished with waffle irons, toaster, toaster oven, ice cream maker, bread maker, two coffee pots, fish fryers and boiling pots.
Washroom/pantry: The washroom has a large open pantry, washer/dryer, additional refrigerator/freezer with ice maker and two large freezers.
Outside amenities: The 1200 s/f screened patio has seating for 16. There are ceiling fans, an unsurpassed entertainment system with speakers and t.v., mini fridge and outdoor grill. The pool is on the 2000 s/f deck with additional seating for 8 and there is ground access from the deck so the kids can move the outdoor activities from the pool to the 1/2 acre grassed yard without issue. The view from the patio/deck is gorgeous overlooking White Sound, The Bluff House Marina and moored boats.
The Bluff House Marina Dock and Treasure Cay Ferry dock are within short walking distance for pick ups for excursions for fishing, picnicking, diving, snorkeling and travel arrival/departure.
The owner is a retired mechanical engineer, graduate of LSU, and has been self employed since 1972.

The owner chose the island of Green Turtle Cay after having travelled the Bahamas in his sportfishing boat from Walkers Cay all the way south to Rum Cay and has seen port of calls in most all of the major and smaller islands in the entirety of the Bahamas. Green Turtle Cay is a very quiet, very safe and secure location without all of the hustle and bustle of the major islands while still offering more than adequate amenities and also provides plenty for everyone in the family to do.
This house was designed and custom built by the owner in 2007. The construction of the home exceeds Dade County, FL building codes and is designed and constructed to handle a category 5 hurricane.
The house provides 100% generator back-up, automatic start and stop that will operate everything in the home in the event of a power outage as well as a back-up water supply. There is a VONAGE phone line, free wireless internet and Premium Direct TV.
This is one of the nicer properties in which we’ve stayed on Green Turtle Cay. There was lots of privacy with each of 3 large bedrooms having it’s own en suite bath. The pool was sparkling, a godsend as we traveled in the hottest part of the summer. Lots of comfortable outdoor furniture drew us to poolside as well as to the huge screened porch. The pool, oversized pool deck and porch all faced White Sound and Bluff House marina with its constant activity. The ultra-high wooden ceilings make the living areas seem twice as big as they are. The kitchen was well-appointed, particularly a wide variety of great cookware. We weren’t a huge group but with 2 stoves, one gas and the other electric, there would be few problems with feeding a crowd. Fishermen will enjoy the many ice chests and standing freezer in the utility area. Access to one of GTC’s beautiful beaches is just over a hill (warning - a very steep hill); about 50-60 yards. Restaurant choices are limited to the Bluff House and The Tranquil Turtle. A golf cart or boat can get you to the Green Turtle Club and Brendal’s Dive Shop, both on the north end of the island. One drawback is that the location is far from New Plymouth. Once GTC repairs their roads, it will be less of a problem to get into town for supplies, access to other restaurants, bars etc. If you have a boat rental, no problem!
The Beehive was just as advertised. The house was extremely well equipped much to our pleasure: 2 Refrigerators + Full size freezer was more than enough refrigeration for a week. Private bathrooms for each room. Basically everyone had their own suite! Great kitchen with lots of pots, pans, plates, coffee maker, 2 stoves! Direct TV allowed us to watch game 7 of the NBA finals! Super house to entertain and feel right at home in a remote island setting. The house and pool was very clean and well maintained. We lost power for 2/3 of a day (father's day) but as advertised, the generator kicked on automatically with no disruptions whatsover. GTC is somewhat remote so the generator was a pleasant addition to a great home. We rented a golf cart which is a must to get around the island. New Plymouth is a good 15 minutes golf cart ride with great stores, restaurants, and bars. We boated over from Jupiter FL and although a private dock would be great, we kept our boat at the Bluffs Marina which is walking distance to the house. I could see the boat from the house so it was no big deal to keep the boat next store. Bluff's marina also has a great pool and restaurant. And over the hill walking distance from house is the Tranquil Turtle for additional food, spirits, and beach volleyball. We boated 15 minutes north to Manjack Cay to feed the sting rays. 10 mintues south is the famous No Name Cay with the pigs. A must visit and very short boat ride. We also ran the boat down to Fowl Cay which has some of the nicest reefs in the world. Study navigation chart very well as lots of ROCKS but worth the adventure to Fowl Cay. Fished Whale Cay channel for lots of Strawberry Groupers and yellowtail snappers. We visited Eddie Conch Snack every day for our daily conch salad. He is located right on the Green Turtle Marina dock. Best Conch Salad on the island. I would definitely rent this house again and visit GTC for an outer island and 5 star experience.
We rented the Beehive House for five nights in July, There were six of us, 3 adult couples (early 30's), and we found the house plenty spacious for all of us. Having a full bathroom en suite in each room was a great amenity so we could all have our privacy and get ready quickly in the mornings and evenings. The pool was also a great amenity after coming home from a long day on the boat, it was clean and clear upon our arrival. The sound system was incredible, as advertised, and hooked right up to our iPod, which was nice while relaxing in the pool or out back grilling. The grill was in good shape and had a full tank of propane. We brought some food over with us and purchased more once we arrived and cooked several meals at the house. The kitchen was well stocked with just about anything you could possibly need. We had a rental boat for the duration of our stay and while a dock out back would have been nice we kept it at the Bluff House Marina which is only a 2-3 minute walk or 1 minute golf cart ride, we did not find this an issue at all. The only problem we had was that in the evening the power went out for an hour or so and the backup generator did not kick in. We have rented the Beehive again for this May and Cheryl was extremely apologetic for the generator issue and assured us that it has been addressed. I can't imagine it is easy to manage a rental home in a foreign country and appreciate her quick responses and attentiveness. We are looking forward to another great trip to GTC and the Beehive House.

The Bee Hive is located on White Sound, adjacent to the Jolly Roger Restaurant and Bar and the Bluff House Marina. The Treasure Cay Ferry landing is walking distance from the home. The ferry is the best way to access the island upon arrival, by plane in Treasure Cay, and you will be greeted and taken to the home with your luggage and will be completely familiarized with all of the amenities provided. For diving or fishing excursions the same dock is available and is within walking distance. The home is also within walking distance to dining, drinks and a gorgeous beach, which faces the Sea of Abaco. This particular beach is very tranquil and loaded with docile sea urchins and marine life with minimal current for swimming and snorkeling. The Bluff House Marina, also walking distance, has boat slips for nightly,weekly and monthly rental, if you have a boat. Harbor mooring is also available.
