Home with 6 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, 3 Half Bathrooms , with mountain views

Our home is in an upscale area of Santa Rosa called Piedmont Heights. We have 6 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 3 showers, 3 half bathrooms, 3 fireplaces. There is a 1200 sq foot partially covered redwood deck overlooking a valley with a winter creek, and mountains. The home is a single story, no steps, so no mobility issues. Master Bedroom is a large room and has a king bed, full bathroom with a large walk-in marble shower, walk-in closet, fireplace and access to the redwood deck. The second bedroom is a large room with a queen bed, half bathroom, fireplace and access to the redwood deck. The third bedroom is smaller with a double bed and view of the courtyard. The fourth and fifth bedrooms are large rooms with queen beds and access to the redwood deck. Across the hall from the fourth and fifth bedrooms have one full bathroom with two showers and a bathtub, and also a half bathroom. The 6th bedroom has 2 twin beds, 1/2 bathroom and walk-in closet and private deck. The living room, formal dining room, kitchen and the remaining bedrooms have beautiful views of the mountains, valley with a winter creek. We have a fully equip kitchen with a large formal dining room off the kitchen which can seat 12 people. Out from the dining room on the redwood deck you can seat another 6 people and is a perfect spot for meals and wine to enjoy with good friends and family. We have a spacious formal living room with a fireplace and beautiful views. There is a flat screen tv with many available movie channels. Also there is an assortment of board games and a table with a number of games inside for your enjoyment.

This is our private residence, please be respectful to our house and our neighbors. We have some areas locked-up for our personal items. Owners live on the premise in a separate unit.

We do not allow large parties or events.

Our minimum stay for weekends May 1, 2017 - Oct 29, 2017 will be 3 nights.

About Don & Kathy Oliver

Don grew up in L.A. and was in the Food Industury for many years. Then he moved up to sonoma county in the late 70's. Kathy grew up

in the south bay area and work for electronic companies and moved up to sonoma county in the mid 70's. Don and I met in 1990 and married the following year. We both fell in love with all the beauty of the area and wonderful things it has to offer.

Why Don & Kathy Oliver chose Sonoma County

When we first saw the property we fell in love with the views and liked the location of being on the edge of town, but we are still close to everything. We see wildlife, like deer with

their fawns, sometimes we see foxes and alot of different birds. This place and the area has become very special to us.

What makes this house unique

We love the views of the winter creek, valley and mountains. The courtyard in the front of the house with our beautiful Japanese Maple tree.

Perfect place for us in every way!

We were a family of 11 adults, looking for a large home to stay for our son's wedding at Kunde Family Winery. It needed to be within reasonable distance to Kenwood (~14 minutes drive, typically) and it was in a quiet residential neighborhood, but close to Highway 12. We definitely wanted a single-level to accommodate an elderly person and not only is the house single-level, but access to the front door is a ramp from the driveway - perfect! No stairs any where! Here are other features that we appreciated the most:

- Don and Kathy are the perfect hosts. They were very friendly and accommodating, but not in any way intrusive. They were responsive before and while we were there. They met us when we arrived and oriented us to the house. In fact, I think they met all our family members at one time or another and everyone had nice things to say about them. It's wonderful to have them living on the property.

- the driveway was long, and covered by the front door. At one point we had four cars & a van and all were easily accommodated.

- there are two wings with 3 bedrooms in each wing, separated from the living areas, which is nice for sound isolation. This was perfect for us; allowing everyone to have their own space. The living room was spacious enough, but our family made great use of the back wraparound, covered deck, spending a lot of time there. Five of the bedrooms have direct access to the deck, which is amazing. The kitchen was fine, with everything we could need. There were two ironing boards and irons, which was helpful, given that people were all getting ready for the big events at the same time.

- there is a Safeway grocery store an easy mile away. We can't comment about restaurants in the area because we really didn't eat out; except the rehearsal dinner at Aventine in Glen Ellen, which was fantastic!

So, two recommendations - if thinking of staging a wedding in the area, check out "Boot Hill" at Kunde Family Winery (a spectacular setting) and stay at Don & Kathy's place for any occasion.

Lovely home, great location

There were eight of us ranging from 6 years to 70. Plenty of room, very clean and nice decor, good access to parks and trails. Bird feeders right outside the window with plenty of hummingbirds and woodpeckers. Super nice owners. We were very impressed.

Kathy and Don are super nice, and their house is clean, updated and stocked with the essentials. This house is perfect for anyone in the wine industry. It's location couldn't be better. If you looking for a house in wine country look no farther... this is were you need to stay!

Beautiful house and a great location for a large family reunion

VRBO has been a great source of vacation home rentals for us and we have had a very good experience both, with the service we received, our interaction with the owners, and finding great homes. This house is exceptional. It is everything it promises and more. We drove down from Wyoming to celebrate Christmas with our three children and their families and had wonderful three day stay. We loved the layout and number, and size of bedrooms, which allowed for a quiet retreat, when needed. The location allows for nice walks, including a short walk to a park with a playground for children. The house was beautifully decorated throughout, which added to the spirit of Christmas. We would love to come back in the future.

For venturing out, there are beautiful scenic drives in wine country, with wonderful small towns and wineries in and around Santa Rosa. Enjoy areas like Sonoma, Calistoga, Healdsburg, and Sebastopol which are all surrounded by beautiful vineyards that you can stop and wine taste and they are only 20-30 minutes away. Bodega Bay has deep sea fishing, parasailing, whale watching, surfing and is 45 minutes away. Anadel State Park and Spring Lake have swimming, picnic areas, paddle boats, hiking, biking, and only 10 minutes away. Historic Jack London State Park is a beautiful drive to the town of Glen Ellen and is 30 minutes away. Russian River area has canoeing, rafting, swimming and the most beautiful place ARMSTRONG WOODS STATE PARK which is a MUST SEE and 30 minutes away. Charles M Shultz Museum & Ice Skating 20 minutes away. Charles M Shultz Sonoma County Airport and Air Museum is 30 minutes away. Just outside the town of Occidental is a Zip Line and is 45 minutes away. We have a wonderful wildlife preserve called Safari West and it is 20 minutes away. Petrified Forest 15 minutes away. If you want to see an amazing city, San Francisco is 1 hour 15 minutes. Go for the day and explore or go for dinner and watch the sunset and see the city come alive. In and around the Santa Rosa area there are wonderful restaurants, pubs, and entertainment to chose from.
