Beloved by renters in years past, #1 Addy is back on the market. Located on a street with no through traffic, you will have access to Middlesex’s private beach. The house has been renovated to include skylights, central heating and air, Wi-Fi, two cable TVs, DVD player, new washer and dryer, and an upgraded outside shower. There are three bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths downstairs, one large bedroom, full bath and loft upstairs. Two open decks are favorite lounging areas for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The dining room and two bedrooms give out onto a large screened porch that runs across the back of the house. The established landscaping creates a cool green refuge from the hot summer sun. You will have access to a gas grill, four bicycles, beach chairs and assorted toys, and a hammock. It’s a great place to build your summer memories with family. And in colder months you can get away for a weekend or winter holiday to enjoy the brick fireplace, the Delaware shore’s slower pace, and the beach’s magical winter light. Middlesex Beach is away from the crowds but within a quick bike ride and strolling distance of Bethany's vibrant boardwalk, with shops and restaurants.
Our parents built this house in 1968, making modifications to the structure to ensure plenty of indoor and outside space. It has been a refuge for our family ever since. It was a constant when we were younger and lived in foreign countries -- it was a refuge through those transient years and in through later stages in life. Much care has been given to selecting furniture and art, while maintaining the spirit of the 1960s. Once you arrive you will never want to leave. It has been a great place to relax, spend time with family and friends, cook great meals, and build lasting memories. We recently winterized it, installing central heating and air and upgrading the windows so that we can now enjoy it year round.
Ann Mills or Tish Mills purchased this cottage in 1968
Our parents rented cottages in Rehoboth and Ocean City in the mid 1960s. They then fell in love with Middlesex Beach and built this cottage in 1968. They are both deceased and the cottage has now been passed down to the next generation. We love it more than ever.
The pine and bayberry trees in Middlesex Beach create a sense of calm and privacy that is unique to this stretch of the Delaware coast. The private beach means fewer crowds. In some respects Middlesex Beach is frozen in time -- a simpler and more relaxed time.
Home was excellent. Sufficient bedrooms for meg and I, our children (with spouses), and two granddaughters. Location was excellent: convenient to beach and boardwalk. Beach pass was a welcome benefit. Strongly recommend this as a great place to enjoy the beach.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at #1 Addy Rd! The home is beautiful, and we loved the setting among the shade of the trees at the end of the street, tucked away nicely from the hustle and bustle. Our two teen/pre-teen boys shared the loft and adored it. It gave them a nice spot to escape from the grown-ups in the evenings to watch TV and "hang out". The layout of the downstairs bedrooms is simply wonderful! Such a clever layout with the master in the front of the house having direct access to a toilet/sink, and the two bedrooms in the back of the house on the lower level also having their own toilet/sink. Then, all three share a shower in the middle. While the loft had its own full bathroom. Very nice and easy set up for various family members - provided nice privacy. Also LOVED the outdoor shower. PLENTY of bikes & beach chairs to share. The home and grounds are beautifully maintained. One of our family members noted that it was so nice because it felt like a mix of a beach vacation and a cabin-style vacation in the woods. Such a perfect combo! ALL of the bedrooms have direct access to their own deck. Plenty of games, book, and lovely art to enjoy in this home. NICE set-up downstairs with the open concept between the ample seating in the living room & dining room, while being able to talk to those cooking up something delicious in the small kitchen. Can't gush enough about this home!!! The pictures simply do not do it justice.
The drive to the private beach of Middlesex was a short hop across Coastal Highway. Nice security, easy to park, and courteous staff at the beach. The best part is how very few folks are on the beach. So nice to sit with our family & not be rubbing elbows with the next family. Plenty of room to spread out. Lovely for all three generations that came along on our trip (parents, children, and grandparents).
In addition to how lovely the stay was, the owners are simply marvelous to deal with. Kind, courteous, and promptly responding to any questions. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your home is lovely, and we appreciate you sharing it with us.
This was the second time my family & I stayed at "Camilock", It is a unique beach cottage tucked away under the pine trees of Bethany, It is very comfortable , clean and well stocked from the kitchen to the shampoo and body wash in the shower's. The outside shower is great after a day on the private beach which is guarded and clean, the only drawback is there is no public bathroom available. The location of the house is right between Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City , Assateaque Island state park in MD. is a favorite beach for our grandchildren as the wild horse's walk the beach. The owners are wonderful to work with and get back to you right away if you have questions about the property. I highly recommend this home for your next beach vacation.
I work with a small non profit, RAIR, and we were lucky enough to have our first retreat at Addy Rd. The house was amazingly comfortable. Our days focused mostly on work, but we loved being able to take a break and cook elaborate meals in the kitchen, go on a short walks down the beach, and sit out on the porch. When we were looking for a rental for our retreat we could not decide between Winter beach or Winter woods and Addy rd was both! There was plenty of room for all of us to sleep and an excess of great places to curl up and chat. It even snowed when we were there! Ann, who owns the house, was very accommodating friendly with helping to set up our trip.
We had a very productive weekend- the atmosphere at Addy rd helped set the tone for great retreat with good conversation, good food, and beautiful surroundings.
We will be back!
One of the most well equipped houses that our group has rented. From the kitchen to the bathroom to the fireplace, if you think of it, it's there.
Once again a great stay!
The new skylights are a fantastic addition to the property. The upstairs bathroom has benefited especially with all the light flooding into the space. The living room and upstairs bedroom feel airy and open with the light provided by the new skylights.
We love that the house is appointed with cozy and comfortable furniture that make you feel at home right away.
We look forward to our next stay at 1 Addy Road.
We rented this house with my sister's family for a week at the beach. Between us there were 4 adults and 5 kids (4 of them teenagers.) The house as perfect. Everyone had enough room and loved how it felt like a cabin in the woods. We loved biking to the beach during the day and then relaxing on the porches at night. The outdoor shower is awesome. The owners are very helpful and the house has everything you need.
Bethany Beach -- just a mile north - has summer concerts on the boardwalk every Saturday night, ice cream parlors and lots of benches to sit on and enjoy the family crowds. Bethany Beach Books is a great place to pick up a mystery novel . Amusement parks are located in both Ocean City and Rehoboth - each about 15-20 minutes away. Boat rentals are close by. The town of Lewes provides great shopping. The adjacent state park is a must see for WWII buffs.
