Two comfortable, modern holiday apartments in the beautiful old village La Garde-Freinet, in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, about 20km inland from St Tropez. The apartments are both on the third floor allowing glorious views from the balcony over the picturesque rooftops to the mountains in the distance. The apartments can be reached by lift or stairs. • There is an attractive shared swimming pool and patio area in the landscaped gardens. •Visitors can be admitted to the apartment by videophone entrance. •Secure car park is provided and there is an allocated parking space.
A 5 minutes stroll to the village centre with its shops bars and restaurants, ideal for a relaxing break yet only a 20 minute drive down the mountain to the excitement of the Cote D'Azur and St Tropez.
A well proportioned 2 bedroomed apartment (one twin and one double) ideal for 2 couples or a family of 4 with a comfortable lounge (TV and stereo) plus dining area. The seperate kitchen is fully fitted with hob and oven, fridge and dishwasher. The bathroom has a bath with shower fittings twin wash basins and washing machine.
A feature of the apartment is the large balcony with delightful views over the village rooftops beyond which you can see the mountains. Here you can enjoy your meals 'al fresco', perhaps accompanied by a chilled bottle of the local rose.
This really is a relaxing destination. Le Garde Freinet is a delightful and ancient village that you can so easily fall in love with. The village nestles between 2 hills right in the middle of the Foret des Maures where it feels that time has stood still for a thousand years. The road system is excellent (even off the beaten track) so you're never far from some beautiful beaches, Provencal markets and good restaurants that won't rip you off.
Take your walking boots for this one. There are some fine walks. Walk to the top of the hill (20 mins on a road which leads only to farms and private properties so virtually traffic free) behind this appartment and you can see the whole of the eastern half of Provence in one go.
We stayed in The 2 bed appartment. It's cool, its comfortable, well appointed, tastefully decorated and furnished in a refreshing and minimalist way. It's very spacious and has an absolutely wonderful view from the large and shady balcony (the photos on this website simply don't do it justice).
The pool is set amid gardens of trees and flowers of every kind and is both clean and quite safe for young families and is a delight after a hot day out. We went at the height of the holiday season and had the pool to ourselves in themorning and evening (it doesn't get busy because so many of the other appartments are owned rather than occupied by tourists). Bonus.
Parking is secure behind an electronic gate to which you have a remote control (cool, kids).
There is a lift to all floors but you have to negotiate a few steps to access the enclosed pool area.
While there is a bus service, we would recommend car hire if you are taking this property because a car is a must for exploring out of the way vineyards country restaurants.
If you like to make a lot of noise, don't stay here. This a place to chill, relax take it easy whatever your agegroup - you'll love it.
There are lots of nice places to stay in Provence but this one is a bit special. It's quiet, relaxing (except for the 2 church bells) which after a few nights didn't wake us up anymore) and views from its balcony which are simply very romantic and will melt the hearts of even the most diehard customers. This is a place you'll find yourself returning to again and again.

We had a lovely 2 weeks staying in la garde freinet. The apartment had everything we needed to make our holiday complete .There is a lovely pool to use which we had a few days lazing around, also it was a peace of mind with having secured parking.
We stayed in the one bedroom apartment in this delightful village. The apartment was well located, a short, pleasant walk to the village shops in the mornings for our croissants and baguettes. The village market is superb for fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, etc. Plenty of restaurants and a very lively atmosphere in the village. The owners were extremely helpful and the apartment was very comfortable, with beautiful views from the balcony. The pool was clean and well maintained and very welcome at the end of a hard day's sightseeing in beautiful Provence in July. If we had the opportunity to return to this part of France, we would definitely stay in this apartment in La Garde Freinet. The Gorges du Verdon is a must.
We would definitely recommend this property. The apartment is spacious and beautifully equipped and furnished to a very high standard. It felt like a home rather than a holiday let. We particularly enjoyed the large balcony with the fabulous views. We all also enjoyed the loungers and the pool which is unsupervised and deep at one end. The description probably does not do the property and location justice. La Garde Freinet is a gorgeous village with beautiful shops and plenty of restaurants, there is also a market twice a week. The centre of the village is a short walk from the apartment - very handy for your breakfast croissant and pain au chocolat! We enjoyed visiting Grimaud. Monaco and Port Grimaud, also took a boat trip to St Tropez
The owners were extremely helpful when a small domestic crisis developed at home, going out of their way to contact us regarding this.
The village of La Garde Freinet was founded as a fortress in the eighth century. It has retained its medieval charm and authentic french character. There are half a dozen haute cuisine restaurants in the village, as well as cafes and bars to relax in, and for those who prefer self-catering there is a useful little supermarket, bakeries and other shops, so that your hot croissants and fresh fruit, vegetables and meat are only five minutes walk away. Markets are held twice a week, and various fetes and fairs occur during the holiday season.
The picturesque area with its cork oak and chestnut groves can be explored by walking, cycling or by car. Local towns include Grimaud, Gassin, Cogolin and Ste Maxime.
St Tropez with its glittering nightlife is less than 20 km away, where you can relax in quayside bars and restaurants face to face with the rich and famous on their gin palaces moored at the quay. The area is famous for its lovely beaches such as Tahiti-Plage and Pamplonne.
