About Bob Hill

My wife and I are outdoor enthusiasts and active hikers, bikers, and skiers. We enjoy spending time with friends and family and plan to organize some great vacations in Tahoe. Our 10 year plan is to retire and live in the home.

Bob Hill purchased this house in 2014

Why Bob Hill chose South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe is one of our favorite places, besides being the place we got engaged it also offers an incredible variety of area attractions, from the natural beauty of Emerald Bay to the nightlife and shows at the casinos, all within a 15 minute drive. We bought this home as a future place to retire, so a quiet setting in a great neighborhood was very important to us. The home itself is located towards the end of a cul-de-sac on a lightly traveled street, with many of the lots under protection from the California conservancy (basically undeveloped/natural areas). The home also backs directly to the national forest and is a short 5 minute walk through the trees to the Upper Truckee river, which is absolutely beautiful and has great hiking/biking trails just alongside. The neighborhood is on virtually flat land, which becomes more important after a heavy snowfall , and both front and back yards are only slightly sloped and offer a great place for relaxing and outdoor entertainment. We love this place and we hope you will too.

What makes this house unique

We saw a lot of very nice properties during our search but there were probably 3 or 4 things that really made this one stand out for us. Probably the biggest single factor was the location. Having a home that backed to national forest where we could walk out the back door, through the back yard and forest to the river in just a few minutes was really amazing. We know it's not our land..but it sure feels like it when we're back there hiking around. Privacy was another important factor. We like having neighbors, but don't want to stand on the back deck and look into their back yard, or worse. This home sits back from the street further than the home to our right, to our left is a conservancy lot, and behind is the forest, so when you're out on the deck or in the hot tub, the view is forest and sky. Very relaxing. And finally the home itself, we wanted an open style home with lots of windows and second floor living. This quality home was built by an excellent area builder and has a master bedroom/bath, 2nd bedroom, laundry room and guest bath (w/shower) all on the main floor in addition to a large and inviting living/dining/kitchen great room with a beautiful river rock fireplace, a back wall full of windows, and a huge upper deck.

This is the house where you want to spend your winter vacation! Look no further. This is our 3rd year at this home in Tahoe. I can't say enough about this beautiful home and location. We had 2 families with kids and the accommodations were very comfortable for all. The kitchen is very spacious which makes cooking home cooked meals ideal. The downstairs is ideal for the kids to hang out and play games. The best part of this home that we love is the location. Right out the back is an abundance of open space in the National Forest. When there is snow, there are plenty of areas to sled and you never have to leave home. Just a short walk and you will reach the amazing creek. Knee deep in snow or no snow, it's a spot you don't want to miss. Bob the owner is amazing and checks in with you by email and makes sure your stay is perfect! You will love it here.....guaranteed!

Third year in a row, still an amazing experience!!

Great as always!!! Although we did not get a lot of snow, our experience at Bob and Jun's is always memorable and perfect!!! Our diverse family enjoyed a lovely three-day weekend in South Lake Tahoe, taking long nature hikes with the entire family during the day and cooking elaborate meals to fuel up in the dream kitchen! We will continue to recommend this cabin to our family and friends and anyone looking for the perfect space and location for a Tahoe getaway. We were 10 to 15 minutes away from the casinos and had the forest literally in the background to explore. We had enough snow to have snowball fights and had we had more snow, the backyard would have been great for sledding.

We will be back next year for our annual trip!! Again, nothing but great things to say about this cabin, has everything you need and more!

Beautiful Home in a Gorgeous Location

  • 5 of 5

We have used VRBO many times and this was our best experience yet. As other reviewers stated the pictures don't do it justice. The house is perfectly laid out for a multi-family vacation. We had two families and everyone was comfortable. There's a common area for the kids (of all ages) and another for the adults. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we cooked almost every night. Everything about the house was very comfortable. The house was well-decorated, in a perfect location, and immaculate.

The owner's hospitality is amazing. They really have thought of everything - amazing attention to all the details that make a stay pleasant. One example is the boot dryer in the garage, I thought it was overkill until everyone needed it.

Before we chose this home we read all of the 5 star reviews. I tend to be a little skeptical but they are all true. Look no further, this place is a gem.

A perfect vacation rental with great owners!

I rented this property for a friends reunion, and this turned out to be a best place we have ever rented. My friends and I loved this house which has so much to offer for people of all age groups. The house has lots of games, a hot tub, a nice hammock, fire place, barbecue and much more. We found the house in a very clean condition, has a large kitchen and plenty of utensils.

The owners are very friendly and absolutely helpful. I would definitely rate this place a perfect ten on ten!!

Impressive house and location

We rented this property for a weekend reunion with some of my family coming from overseas (12 persons). My primary goal was to give them a comfortable house and to impress them and show off the beauty of south Lake Tahoe.

Well I guess it was a mission accomplished with a lot of help from this house. It was gorgeous with at least 4car parking. There was a stream about 5mins from the backyard, really neat.

The owner had thought of everything and anything that the renter would need, from a high chair that a baby would need, to a rice cooker that we never thought would be available in that house.

The location was about 20mins going to emerald bay depending on traffic. It was good a community, easy to find. The description of the amenities was true and faithful. We felt the owner's generosity even though we don't see him. He responded to our inquiry very timely. Reason why we left the house really clean to show our respect.

Our only disappointment was, although it's not in the description to see bears, "we didn't see any". But I f I could, I would rent this house again just to spoil my own children.

Absolutely amazing rental house with great value!

Our entire family loved our vacation rental house this year in the South Lake Tahoe area! All generations from ages 4 to 72 were not only comfortable in the house but really felt at home and had the times of their lives. We had as many as 9 people sleeping in the house but the layout allowed for everyone to have plenty of space. During our extended stay we cooked almost all our own meals in the wonderfully equipped and designed kitchen. Even with multiple chefs in the kitchen we were always able to work efficiently and not step on each other's toes. The dinning area and deck were two of our family's favourite spaces where we could all relax after an active day hiking, bagging local peaks, bouldering, beaching, biking, kayaking, etc! We also loved relaxing around the fire pit and soothing our achey muscles in the private hot tub while watching the mountains turn colours during sunset.

Bob and Jun's attention to details ensured that we knew as much as possible about the house prior to our arrival. They were extremely fast to respond to any questions we had. Once we arrived they verified that we had everything we needed. Everything in the house is tastefully labelled making it very easy to find whatever you are looking for. They even followed up with us upon departure to ensure our stay was wonderful and promptly refunded our security deposit.

This was our family's fifth rental in the Tahoe basin and hands down the best rental property we have had the pleasure of calling our vacation home for a few weeks.

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous home with us Bob and Jun!

Skiing and fishing. Bike trails and baccarat. Ice skating and fine dining. Whatever your passion South Lake Tahoe is a great place to vacation.

Welcome to a place with enough around-the-clock awesomeness to keep you playing all day and partying all night, all on the shore of the largest alpine lake in North America - Lake Tahoe. With its clear water surrounded by the majestic Sierra Nevada, jaw-dropping vistas, stately groves of pines, and gorgeous sunsets, Lake Tahoe is an alpine paradise.

Home Proximity to area attractions:

Heavenly Ski Resort (California Base) 8 miles

Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort 7 miles

Lake Tahoe 8 miles

Stateline Casinos 10 miles

The property itself is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood away from the crowds but within a 10-15 minute drive of area attractions (skiing, lake, golf, casinos, shopping + restaurants). The home backs directly to the national forest and one of the first things we'd recommend is a short 5 minute hike down to the river. It's absolutely beautiful and the trails alongside stretch for miles and miles into Washoe State Park. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as martens, coyotes and the occasional black bear (no grizzlies in the area).

We'd also recommend checking out Emerald Bay and D.L. Bliss State Parks. Eagle Falls at Emerald Bay is a great easy hike and offers the opportunity to continue hiking up to Eagle Lake and even beyond into Desolation Wilderness for the more adventurous. Keep an eye out for soaring Ospreys and Bald Eagles during winter months at Emerald Bay. For those that like fly fishing, the Truckee river offers some fun practice but the really good fishing is nearby on the Carson river.
