My husband is from the area and we were looking for a weekend getaway spot to unwind and recharge. We've found the perfect place!
Emily Feenstra purchased this house in 2013
There aren't many homes on the river and you can feel yourself relax as soon as you turn onto the gravel lane. The deck overlooking the rapids is our favorite place to spend a lazy morning. We love being in the heart of Lancaster County and surrounded by Amish farms.
Rather than stay in a hotel again with my four children to celebrate Christmas with family in PA, we searched for a vacation rental. This was the closest vacation home we could find to Brownstown PA. We were happy to only be 6 minutes away and yet still enjoy the scenic country roads to our destination. Kudos to the managers who live next door (Ginny and Jack): Ginny left us sticky buns and a lovely note upon our arrival and Jack met us upon our dinnertime arrival to caution us about some unexpected repair work. The house was wonderfully decorated for Christmas - even with a lit Christmas tree in the living room. Along with the clean and well-appointed interior, we could imagine how relaxing the large back deck and campfire area would be in better weather. My married kids took the top floor master suite while I and the other kids each had our own sleeping areas. The dining room table easily seats 6. We had loads of room and considered entertaining our PA family; however, my elderly father would not have been able to navigate the steep stone steps leading down to the house. The motion detector lights along the steps were a real plus at night! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the beds very comfy - and they are generous with blankets. Although it is always difficult to be away Christmas, I have to say that Eagle's Branch felt like home.
It's so nice when you can talk directly to the owner and ask questions about the property, what you may need to bring, good restaurants, etc. and I want to thank Emily for taking the time to speak with me on the phone and answer all my inquiries. Very helpful. What a special place Eagles Branch is! Upon entering the private gravel drive you notice the quiet and serenity. The house is lovely. The views spectacular. From the kitchen you look upon vast corn fields and from the back deck you overlook the Conestoga River. We have two teenagers and they were squealing with delight when the saw the basement game room with large TV and foosball. My husband and I were so impressed by the little details left by the caretakers. Jack and Ginny are so sweet and helpful and want to make your stay so special. They left us delicious cinnamon buns and a personal note of welcome. Such nice touches. There is also a huge binder that they've painstaking put together for their guests, full of very detailed activities in and around the rental property. The location was also ideal for the things we wanted to do. An easy 45 minute drive to Hershey and 15-20 minutes to Intercourse, Lancaster and surrounding area. The house is comfortable, very clean and has all the amenities including washer and dryer to make your stay like being at home. I HIGHLY recommend this property and I want to thank Jack and Ginny for making us feel so welcome.
We so enjoyed our stay at Eagle's Branch! The house was so relaxing and convenient to most attractions! The setting is beautiful and peaceful! We enjoyed our annual trip to Sight and Sound Theater and the shopping and sight seeing was wonderful as always! The house couldn't have been better taken care of. The game room in the basement was comfortable to watch the Penguins game on the big screen and to play cards. We wished we would have planned a longer stay! Hope to do that in warmer weather to fully enjoy the river. Thank you so much for opening your home to us! We thoroughly enjoyed our 33rd wedding anniversary!

Thanks to the property managers, Jack and Ginny (and the owners, Paul and Emily) for their warm, hospitable, yet inconspicuous welcome. We never needed to contact them while onsite, but their gift of sticky buns and s'mores were enough to make us feel instantly welcomed. This home is in the midst of the "real" Amish country...rolling hills, beautiful rivers, and working farms as far as the eye can see, with a delightful approach via a covered bridge and a short gravel driveway leading past the house to a large farm. Nothing but cornfields and river out the windows....yet it's only about 5-10 minutes to groceries and restaurants, and 20 minutes to major attractions in every direction, from the Dutch Apple Theater to Strasburg Railroad to the "Coolest Small Town in America" (Lititz, PA) with its excellent bookstores, cafes, and history. The home itself is exactly as advertised here on VRBO....informal, comfortable, very clean and uncluttered, but with everything you need for a true vacation "away from it all." Highly recommended. We'll be back.
My friend and I stayed at the Eagles Branch for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The home is absolutely beautiful inside and out. There wasn't anything more that we could have asked for. It seemed that Ginny and Jack thought of everything. Including sticky buns that were delicious. Ginny left directions to Farmers Markets that were great. We also went to Kettle Kitchen Village which is not too far away in Intercourse, PA. We took a walk to the nearby covered bridge and back one afternoon and watched the Amish farmers working. I sent pictures of Eagle's Branch to friends and family and all of them want to stay there too. I know I will be back and sooner rather than later. Definitely 5 stars - wish is could be more. We had a nice stay in Lancaster. The house was wonderful. A perfect place for us. The house was very clean and comfortable. The location is right in Amish country. The river was awesome. The owners are helpful. We will return. Thanks.
Come discover Pennsylvania Dutch Country and historic downtown Lancaster. It's a charming walkable town and yet you are in farmland within minutes. Our favorite places to visit include the Lancaster Central Market, the towns of Lititz and Strasburg, and all of the covered bridges near our home!

We hope you'll choose Eagles Branch River House as the base for your Lancaster County getaway. Please note that this home is rural and woodsy. If the occasional bug, farm smell or getting stuck behind an Amish buggy will bother you, this might not be your dream vacation! :) We ask that you also respect our Amish neighbors and do not take their photographs or enter their property.
