About Emily Feenstra

My husband is from the area and we were looking for a weekend getaway spot to unwind and recharge. We've found the perfect place!

What makes this house unique

There aren't many homes on the river and you can feel yourself relax as soon as you turn onto the gravel lane. The deck overlooking the rapids is our favorite place to spend a lazy morning. We love being in the heart of Lancaster County and surrounded by Amish farms.

Beautiful, relaxing, quiet !

  • 5 of 5

Wonderfully secluded in the trees, with the Conestoga River running within view of the picture windows. The house is maintained in excellent condition, and everything was provided for our needs. This is our second vacation here, and we love it even more than the first time. High end kitchen appliances, beautiful patio and decking, BBQ grill, and thoughtful proximity controlled lighting leading to the door at night. Dish TV connection has a wide range of stations to choose from, but you will want to spend more time outside, and visiting the Amishland attractions, such as Sight and Sound Theater, about 20 minutes away.

Perfect setting for a peaceful vacation

  • 5 of 5

we can't express enough how wonderful this property was for a perfect stay in the Amish Countryside. From the house sitting on a beautiful river bank to all of the small details that the property owner included, like fresh sticky buns and a personalized note and all the little touches of needed necessities in case we forgot anything. They didn't forget a thing! The detailed book with all of their suggestions on places to see eat and visit was so helpful! My favorites of all were the walks to the covered bridges and sitting on the deck in the early mornings watching the eagle in the tree tops over the river. He was a frequent visitor during our stay! This truly was the perfect place to stay and we have been to this area many times. I will definitely use this property for a future stays!

Incredibly homey and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My family normally spends President's Day weekend in the FL Keys, so when I began looking for a place in the Lancaster area, I knew it had to have a water view. Fortunate for us, we nearly had Keys kind of weather.

Prior to arriving, I contacted the owners and asked about dropping off our bikes before check-in time. When we pulled up, the owner happened to be walking out of the property and we had a lovely chit chat and he said the place was all ours. The layout of the home was spacious and functional. The breezeway was a great place for our shoes (muddy due to gorgeous winter weather) and beer. The kitchen had sufficient counter space and the lighting options were fabulous for late night and early morning needs. The beds were comfortable for everyone and the rooms had space for bags and general stuff you might bring to clutter up your area. The master bedroom was FABULOUS with light, temperature, comfortable sheets/blankets, and seats. One of my children slept on the downstairs sofa with the provided sheets, and slept very well. The water pressure is on the low side with showers and toilets flushing. Not a big inconvenience though.

The living room provides a fabulous view of the stream and the sun coming up. I cracked the windows and enjoyed the sounds of the water and birds each morning. The rec room area downstairs is GREAT. We used the foosball table many times and also allowed my son to play bartender as he provided drinks and snacks to us as we watched the large TV behind him. My other son lounged on the large sofa as he watched the other tv.

The entire home was filled with lovely homey touches. The owners obviously put effort into making sure the guests feel welcome and cared for. There was a welcome sign for us, a lengthy handwritten note, sticky buns, tissue boxes all over the place (thank you! I had a little bit of a cold that weekend), and small signs with suggestions and helpful alerts.

On our second night, the temps were high enough for us to enjoy the fire pit and hammock. We brought one of those bagged fire logs along, so while we didn't use up the supplies they provide for smores (can't really cook over those things), we did enjoy the additional firewood they provided and the comfortable seating.

I can image the decks are a fabulous place to relax during a warm or hot day. We hope to have additional reasons to visit this area so that we can rent from these owners again. Fabulous experience!

Eagles Branch Guest House

  • 5 of 5

Once again we had a wonderful stay at Eagles Branch. We visited most of the small towns in the areas and enjoyed all that the beautiful home has to offer - especially the river views. As always Ginny and Jack were there if we needed them, but they think of everything and the house has everything you could possibly need and more. I love staying at this house and will be back again soon for another visit.

Rustic retreat

  • 5 of 5

Rather than stay in a hotel again with my four children to celebrate Christmas with family in PA, we searched for a vacation rental. This was the closest vacation home we could find to Brownstown PA. We were happy to only be 6 minutes away and yet still enjoy the scenic country roads to our destination. Kudos to the managers who live next door (Ginny and Jack): Ginny left us sticky buns and a lovely note upon our arrival and Jack met us upon our dinnertime arrival to caution us about some unexpected repair work. The house was wonderfully decorated for Christmas - even with a lit Christmas tree in the living room. Along with the clean and well-appointed interior, we could imagine how relaxing the large back deck and campfire area would be in better weather. My married kids took the top floor master suite while I and the other kids each had our own sleeping areas. The dining room table easily seats 6. We had loads of room and considered entertaining our PA family; however, my elderly father would not have been able to navigate the steep stone steps leading down to the house. The motion detector lights along the steps were a real plus at night! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the beds very comfy - and they are generous with blankets. Although it is always difficult to be away Christmas, I have to say that Eagle's Branch felt like home.

So lovely with killer views!

  • 5 of 5

It's so nice when you can talk directly to the owner and ask questions about the property, what you may need to bring, good restaurants, etc. and I want to thank Emily for taking the time to speak with me on the phone and answer all my inquiries. Very helpful. What a special place Eagles Branch is! Upon entering the private gravel drive you notice the quiet and serenity. The house is lovely. The views spectacular. From the kitchen you look upon vast corn fields and from the back deck you overlook the Conestoga River. We have two teenagers and they were squealing with delight when the saw the basement game room with large TV and foosball. My husband and I were so impressed by the little details left by the caretakers. Jack and Ginny are so sweet and helpful and want to make your stay so special. They left us delicious cinnamon buns and a personal note of welcome. Such nice touches. There is also a huge binder that they've painstaking put together for their guests, full of very detailed activities in and around the rental property. The location was also ideal for the things we wanted to do. An easy 45 minute drive to Hershey and 15-20 minutes to Intercourse, Lancaster and surrounding area. The house is comfortable, very clean and has all the amenities including washer and dryer to make your stay like being at home. I HIGHLY recommend this property and I want to thank Jack and Ginny for making us feel so welcome.
