Bohemian Houseboat Great Location

Bedrooms 2
Property type house boat
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

It is widely agreed that the Jordaan is one of, if not THE best neighborhood in Amsterdam. It has lovely canals, great shopping, galleries and restaurants, weekly street markets and easy access to all the tourist sights in Amsterdam. Enjoy a unique experience on one of the funkiest boats in town located in the best neighborhood on one of the prettiest canals. Our quaint 'bohemian inspired' houseboat is full of artistic flair with all the comforts of home. Guests can enjoy a 'walking holiday' as attractions are easily reached on foot, or rent a bike just around the corner. Views across the canals and bridges are sprinkled with beautiful churches and amazing Dutch architecture. If location, location, location is your wish in Amsterdam, this is the rental for you. The space is perfect for 2 people or a couple with 1 small child. It is a small boat with low ceilings, but once you get cuddled inside it is extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities plus spectacular views on the canal out every window. We have a large outside decks on the canal and street sides (rare on houseboats) adorned with beautiful flowers and plants. The interior of the boat has 'funky' bright colors, cool lighting and lots of visual candy. There are 2 rooms and several outdoor sitting areas. The main room has a comfortable sitting area, dining table, kitchen and a queen sized bed. The 2nd room has a bathtub / shower, bathroom, office area and a single bed. Guests will have access to the entire home including high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, stove top, microwave and small toaster oven, Nespresso Coffee machine, Phillips Juicing machine and mixer, hot water pot for tea and kitchen and bathroom supplies.

About Jody Toll

My name is Jody and I grew up in Tucson Arizona, went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon, lived in Japan, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Bali... I love to travel and Amsterdam is absolutely the best city in the world ! Come enjoy with us !

Jody Toll purchased this house boat in 2005

Why Jody Toll chose Grachtengordel

When I first came to Amsterdam I knew I had to live on a houseboat. After years of searching, I found our boat which is located in the best spot in town and has tons of character! To wake up every morning to the glistening water, watch the ducks and other birds cruise by, listen to the live music and laughter in the streets and on the canal... it is a vibrant, artistic and beautiful place. I'm so happy to share it with you !

What makes this house boat unique

This boat is special because it sits on top of the water with large windows all along the canal and a wonderful outdoor patio. The views are amazing, you feel as if you could touch the water. And the Jordaan neighborhood is simply the best area of town!

The best way to experience Amsterdam❤️

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Amsterdam several years ago and of course took a Canal Tour Boat ride. While on that cruise we noticed all these darling houseboats all along the canals. I told my husband When we go back We Must Rent a Houseboat to live on. When I found this rental on VRBO I just knew I had found the Best. From the minute Marguerite showed us our Home away from Home We Fell in Love. Every detail of this houseboat is Perfect. The Decor is definitely Bohemian Chic but even the orange and purple were perfect together. The kitchen had everything we needed or could possibly want to make all our meals in for the whole week we were there. There is a great market just down the canal one block away that had Fabulous food just like Whole Foods at home. Great bakery right across from market that makes Fabulous Chocolate Donuts to die for. We Loved our stay even in the middle of a bad week of rain and winds that our local Host Marguerite came over to warn us about. She was a great Host to show you how everything works and all the closets and cupboards so unpacking was a breeze. Marguerite even had fresh flowers and a nice cheese tray and wine all waiting for us to introduce us to our new home and certainly made us feel very Welcome. We had a Very Romantic week completely by ourselves all Cozy in our Bohemian Love Boat. Thank you Jody for having such an incredible houseboat and Thank you for allowing Steven and I to Share it.

Beautifully unique and fascinating Bohemian accommodation. Worth every penny!

Upon arrival we were greeted by the wonderfully friendly Margriette who showed us around the houseboat and gave us recommendations for the surrounding area before leaving us to it.

The houseboat is cosy and has everything that you could need. They've managed to work art into every nook and cranny of the houseboat, meaning you could spend hours appreciating the various works on the wall, shelves and ceilings.

The houseboat is in a great location with the main tourist areas easily accessible via bike, tram or even on foot. There are restaurants, cafes and bars nearby with mini markets just around the corner.

I've visited Amsterdam several times previously and have always enjoyed where I've stayed, but this truly takes the crown of being the best place I've stayed in Amsterdam, if not anywhere.

Kudos to Jody and Margriette for making this break one of the most memorable we've ever had!

Amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

We completely enjoyed our 11 nights in this funky houseboat! I think the location is one of its best features. It is on a beautiful canal that has lots of action during the day but is quiet at night. The houseboat is cozy but very livable...we were 2 adults and our 17 year old son and we had plenty of space. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked and we cooked about half of the time. The rest of the time, we got take out Thai food and ate on our favourite space on the houseboat which was the deck. We could sit and relax for hours, watching the canal boats going past and feeding ducks. The shower/bath was also completely charming and very relaxing after a day of exploring and biking. There is something about listening to the bells from the tower down the street and knowing that those are the same bells Anne Frank and her family would have listened to. The heater went out part way through our trip and when I emailed the owner, she responded within minutes! They weren't able to get the heating fixed because it was over Easter but they quickly brought in an electric heater which did the job and we were very happy with how quickly they tried to fix the situation. We would highly recommend this houseboat to anyone! Margriet and Fake were extremely helpful for anything we needed during our stay. We love Amsterdam and this houseboat was a special memory from an amazing trip!
