It is widely agreed that the Jordaan is one of, if not THE best neighborhood in Amsterdam. It has lovely canals, great shopping, galleries and restaurants, weekly street markets and easy access to all the tourist sights in Amsterdam. Enjoy a unique experience on one of the funkiest boats in town located in the best neighborhood on one of the prettiest canals. Our quaint 'bohemian inspired' houseboat is full of artistic flair with all the comforts of home. Guests can enjoy a 'walking holiday' as attractions are easily reached on foot, or rent a bike just around the corner. Views across the canals and bridges are sprinkled with beautiful churches and amazing Dutch architecture. If location, location, location is your wish in Amsterdam, this is the rental for you. The space is perfect for 2 people or a couple with 1 small child. It is a small boat with low ceilings, but once you get cuddled inside it is extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities plus spectacular views on the canal out every window. We have a large outside decks on the canal and street sides (rare on houseboats) adorned with beautiful flowers and plants. The interior of the boat has 'funky' bright colors, cool lighting and lots of visual candy. There are 2 rooms and several outdoor sitting areas. The main room has a comfortable sitting area, dining table, kitchen and a queen sized bed. The 2nd room has a bathtub / shower, bathroom, office area and a single bed. Guests will have access to the entire home including high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, stove top, microwave and small toaster oven, Nespresso Coffee machine, Phillips Juicing machine and mixer, hot water pot for tea and kitchen and bathroom supplies.

About Jody Toll
My name is Jody and I grew up in Tucson Arizona, went to Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon, lived in Japan, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Bali... I love to travel and Amsterdam is absolutely the best city in the world ! Come enjoy with us !
Jody Toll purchased this House Boat in 2005
Why Jody Toll chose Grachtengordel
When I first came to Amsterdam I knew I had to live on a houseboat. After years of searching, I found our boat which is located in the best spot in town and has tons of character! To wake up every morning to the glistening water, watch the ducks and other birds cruise by, listen to the live music and laughter in the streets and on the canal... it is a vibrant, artistic and beautiful place. I'm so happy to share it with you !
What makes this House Boat unique
This boat is special because it sits on top of the water with large windows all along the canal and a wonderful outdoor patio. The views are amazing, you feel as if you could touch the water. And the Jordaan neighborhood is simply the best area of town!

Easily top three most wonderfully unique place I have stayed in my 48 years on this planet.
First of all Jody is a pleasure to work with through the app to plan your stay. She communicated so well and answered all my questions and concerns quickly and with thorough information.
Jody went above and beyond. When we needed to confirm our dates she put a hold on the property for us till we could verify the dates. We also had an accident while we were there and accidentally broke a plastic piece in the fridge. When I reached out to her to let her know she was so kind and said "not to worry as that was just normal wear and tear". Thank you Jody!
The houseboat it quite possibly one of the coolest most unique places I've ever stayed. The art is everywhere and my wife and I and son never stopped finding new art throughout the trip. The bathroom has an option to turn on black lights and she provides glowing markers for you to leave a message for future guests. It is SOOO cool and Jody you need to get a picture of it on the page. It's a huge selling point. The deck outside had space enough for the three of us and we used it every night for cocktail and cheese hour and watch the boats go by using the provided bluetooth speaker for music.
One thing you should know is that you will be on the boat tour. The tour boats vary from the large ones that carry 60 people or so down to boats people rented themselves that hold maybe 4 people and everything in between. We didn't mind it at all as people are so friendly and wave and raise a glass to you if you are sitting outside with one. It's also kind of cool cause you feel like a local. We found that being on the houseboat we always felt like we were touring Amsterdam even when home. What a great feeling!
As the description of the place notes, it is not very large and really is best suited for a couple or a family (son is almost 15) of three like ours. We are not very large people so it was perfect for us.
If you think you like the place based on the pictures, description and reviews do not hesitate to book it. You will be SO happy you did!
Jody, thank for making our trip so unique and special. We posted a lot of pictures on social media and we had a lot of friends and family asking for the link.

Very nice but eccentric little place to stay
A clean, comfortable and well equipped houseboat in a quiet (except for church bells) but conveniently central area. The decor is extremely eccentric but fun. 3 people CAN stay here but it's tight. 2 will have to share a double bed and the 3rd single bed is essentially in the bathroom. Communication with the host was a little casual but we got it all worked out. Definitely worth a look.
Great location - nice boat
Loved the location and they provided everything you need. smaller than I thought but still worked great.
Colorful Treat and Totally Recommended
Such a fun place to stay, with all the amenities and charm you can imagine! The location was amazing - so close to Anne Frank House and gorgeous sights. Loved breakfast on the back deck and waving tourists (and hungry swans)! Bed was comfy, decor a delight, and backlight-lit bathroom amusing and functional. One of the best (and most lovely) showers/tubs anywhere. We stayed 3 nights on houseboat then had an apartment in North Amsterdam. In hindsight, would have stayed on boat! The Jordaan is too beautiful for words and the gem of Amsterdam. We are so happy to have spent our 35th Anniversary here. If you like color, art, and appreciate a touch of zany, you will love this cozy houseboat! Would book again in a heartbeat.
Magical mystery tour!
We had a wonderful stay on this incredibly colourful and quirky houseboat a couple of doors down from Anne Frank House on Prinsengracht! The Location was perfect as the hop on hop off boat stopped outside Anne Frank house and there were many good eateries in the vicinity. We really recommend the Pancake House diagonally opposite the boat. We were met on arrival by Jody’s friend Magriet who was most welcoming and helpful. There were goodies in the fridge and a bottle of wine, all of which was most appreciated. We just loved staying on the boat and couldn’t wait to get home and sit on the deck watching the boats and ducks drift by, cold beers in hand! At night it was really warm and cosy inside with all the pretty lights and artworks, and there was Netflix if you could keep your eyes open after a day out exploring this wonderful city. The bath/shower too is a treat with its little window overlooking the canal. This is by far the nicest accommodation we have had in our three month trip around Europe and the U.K. and will be sure to please the young at heart and artists as there was so much to admire and chuckle at on the boat, not least of which was the flourescent toilet cubicle in which you are encouraged to write a quip or doodle a sketch on the walls with the highlighters provided! Thank you Jody and Magriet for an amazing experience.
Amazing location and great houseboat. ! So much charm and character — loved everything about it!
Funky theme, colors and style and wouldn’t want it any other way! Small but you have the whole boat to yourself. Slept 3 comfortably. Great location in a very central part of town very close to the Anne Frank house but quiet. So nice sitting on the back terrace watching boats go by and hearing the bells from the nearby church. Highly recommend!!
This houseboat is in a perfect location to enjoy the best shopping and restaurants in Amsterdam. It is also in walking distance from the museums and in easy access to public transportation should you wish to take a trip to the beach or the flower fields.
