About Kathy Morel
We are a family of 6 that enjoy Barnegat Light year round. We come down from North Jersey for rejuvenation and relaxation. Each time as we cross the causeway and breath in the sea air, it melts all the stress away! Then as we have to leave its hard to pull away! 2018 is the 14th year we have been managing all rentals ourselves.
Kathy Morel purchased this House in 2004
Why Kathy Morel chose Barnegat Light
Home is perfect for families-2 separate living areas allow kids to hang out and play on one floor while adults can relax on another. Barnegat Light is unlike the rest of LBI-much quietier and lots of solitude.

Great Family Vacation Get Away
We stayed here for a week, Saturday to Saturday and had the time of our lives. Our family loved the beach, the quiet Barneget Light neighborhood and the house. The beach was very secluded with very few others and a lifeguard right at the beach entry. My wife is a photographer and was able to capture the Barneget Light scenery. We were able to bike and walk to the lighthouse, to get breakfast at Mustache Bill's, to get ice cream at Poppy's, to visit Viking Village and to go fishing on the bay & inlet. The house & yard layout allowed the kid's plenty of room to play and spread out. There is even a view of the lighthouse from one of the windows.
We are avid vacationers and this year have stayed in other beaches in NJ, MD and FL. Barneget Light is by far the most secluded and quiet and this house fit the bill for our family's needs. We will need to go back to this house again soon!!!
Friendly owner, well-located property
Owners were very helpful and friendly and the house is very well-located, near beach, lighthouse, bay, etc. The house was being renovated when we stayed, so there were some quirks, but the overall vibe is open and pleasant, especially on the upper floors. Lower floor bedrooms can get hot. Very much enjoyed our stay.
Great beach house for a large family
We love this house! We having been vacationing at Barnegat Light since we have been in our 20's. Our three sons basically spent every summer on the Island since they were born. We live in Kansas City, Missouri and make the track to LBI for two weeks every year. We have rented multiple homes over the years and have fallen in love with this home. We don't even look anymore at other locations. The owners are friendly, approachable and helpful. Much nicer than dealing with a reality agency.
The house accommodates our growing family perfectly! Kids downstairs and grownups upstairs. After a day at the beach, we all convene for dinner at the kitchen table which seats our family of 10 easily. At night the kitchen table doubles as our gaming table. The kitchen is newly renovated and an easy kitchen to cook in. There are two refrigerators which allow for lots of storage. And there is a lot of storage in this home. There are two outside porches and two inside living room spaces which allows us all to spread out. The house is hidden from the road, which adds to the privacy factor and feels like you are "away from it all." The owners provide beach chairs, bikes and boogie boards. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies, utensils, dishes, cups and glasses. This is very helpful as it lightens our load from Kansas City. Since we are a large family the two full bathrooms and the outside shower come in handy.
The house sits in between the bay and the beach. It's an easy walk to the marina and anywhere else at Barnegat Light. In addition to the ocean, our favorite spot is Andy's for dinner and dessert from Dairy Queen. The Light house tour guides are full of information if you're a history buff like me. The surrounding park gives one an idea of what once was. We love the quiet life of the upper part of Long Beach Island. I would absolutely recommend this property to family and friends, just as long as they didn't take my two weeks!
Wonderful location & nice, bright vacation home!
We stayed here in August of 2013 and had a really wonderful week. The owner was communicative and responsive to our inquiries and requests. We loved the separate living room areas so the teens could hang out downstairs while adults were upstairs. The house feels private as there are many trees surrounding it. Nice deck just off the kitchen through sliding glass doors, not too big, but enough to hold 5 or 6 adults sitting around a table to enjoy drinks. Loved that the grill was on the 2nd floor deck-- made for easy cooking and carrying food in and out. The rectangular picnic-style kitchen table was large, but we personally weren't fans of the benches as it is hard for people to get in and out once everyone is seated. Great A/C units in living room and bedrooms, although the 2 downstairs bedrooms did not have wall units-- one had a floor unit and the other did not have an A/C unit at all. This made for an uncomfortable stay for the occupant of that room! Amazing location in relation to the ocean. Just walk across the boulevard and one block to the beach. The walk to the water is long, which was hard for us with a 16-m.o. and my elderly father who is not in the best health. But for someone in decent shape (and without a baby), the walk is actually quite beautiful with the dunes and nature to observe! Another note about having the 16-month-old: while the house itself is great, we found that it is not the best option as far as being baby-safe. The stairs going up to the third floor have wide open slats and there is a gaping space from a 2nd floor platform that goes right into the stairwell-- very dangerous for a baby who is crawling around. We ended up having to move things to block that space and keep a baby gate (that we brought) against the stairs for the entire week. Probably not the best option for families with children under 2 because of this and other dangers such as the balcony deck off the kitchen--our daughter could have easily fit right through the banisters and fallen off, so we had to keep her off the deck the entire week.
The fact that the house is not the safest for children under 2 does not devalue the fact that it is a wonderful house, but we weren't able to fully and completely relax for the week because we were watching out for our daughter's safety. We made do with creative solutions, and it was just fine! It would have been helpful knowing about the safety issues beforehand, though.
Overall a great vacation home!
If you love the beach ...
We had a perfect week at the beach. The house was great, it offered everything we could want. We loved the location and really enjoyed being able to walk to everything we wanted to do. The beach is beautiful and not crowded at all (most of the time it was just us and a few other groups). We loved the sand dunes, shells, perfect waves for boogie boards, and nature trails. We explored a few of the different access trails to the beach (9th, 11th, 12th, and 13th street), but all agreed that the 12th street access was the best (we loved the challenge and the scenery). We gave Poppy's Ice Cream quite a bit of business and enjoyed Kellys and Kubels for dinner (all within walking distance). We spent most evenings staring at the sunset over bay and exploring around the lighthouse. The kids liked the playground around the corner and enjoyed using the bikes to get there. We tried a few other restaurants on the island with Woodies (burgers) topping the list as a favorite.
Lots of great memories were made at this wonderful LBI beach house.
Great Time At A Great House!
My wife and I (and friends) stayed here in the summer of 2011. As it turned out, it was the weekend there was a hurricane (d'oh!) so our stay was cut short. The Morel's were very accommodating and gave us a free weekend this year!
The place was very clean - It's in a very quiet area - There's a small deli nearby but you may wanna bring food for the first day.
It's walking distance from the Bay (a little less than a mile) and the beach (shorter, but a tougher walk as there's a lot of sand to transverse) - I recommend stopping at Off the Hook takeout seafood on the way to the bay (less than half a mile walk). I also recommend A Little Bite Of Italy restaurant on LBI...
