2 Double bedrooms both en suite, 1 downstairs cloakroom 4 (6/8 2 sofa beds)

This villa is private, has a park directly behind with tiny swings, a slide & carousel for the very little, two tennis courts at the far end & a communal pool (not in use Oct-May),15/20 minutes walk through a Nature Reserve takes you to the stunning blue flag beach. The villa is beautifully decorated, tastefully furnished with a fully fitted kitchen, both bedrooms (1 Double, 1 Twin) have en-suite bathroom/showers rooms, the main bedroom balcony overlooks the back garden & park. The large airy lounge/dining room has 3 seat sofa (Sofa bed), 2 seat sofa, TV Digital Sky & Sentata Sports, DVD, CD Player, dining table-6 chairs, bar & leads on to the pretty garden and pool (6m x 3m) area with garden table, chairs, BBQ , sun loungers. 20 minutes from Faro Airport & easy to get to, 15/20 minutes drive to Faro, Vilamoura & Albufeira. Mini-marts, restaurants within walking distance, all types of sports activities, you can relax, keep busy or just sun yourself.

Getting around: The airport in Faro is 20 minutes drive down A22/A125. If hiring a car, which is probably sensible for sight seeing/golf/sports, there are many hire firms at Faro AIrport, alternatively a taxi will cost around £20 each way. There are buses and taxis and a great train service to Lisbon, which passes through some wonderful countryside. You can drive from the house to in one direction Lisbon or in the other direction Seville and the new motorway is superb. Vale do Lobo has a mini bus service, which ferries you around the immediate area only.

Places to visit & Blue Flag beaches: Vale do Garrao is ideally situated in Central Algarve, making it easy to explore the wonderful surrounding areas and the new A22 motorway makes the whole of Algarve easily accessible. Vilamoura has, lovely shops, restaurants and a marina and you can go on a fishing trips, sail or dolphin watch. Albufeira old town, is where you will find boutiques, bars and plenty of nightlife, the party capital and in Giua there is a great shopping mall. Faro walled town is a must with hidden delights and just before entering, you will find a superb shopping arcade with one of the best supermarkets and fantastic shops. Throughout Algarve you will find whatever you want, mountains, sea, beaches, waterparks, zoo's, go karting, horse riding, horse carriage excursions, plenty of history, markets, golf, tennis, gastronomy etc, you can be as active or relaxed as you want. The Ancao, Garrao and Vale do lobo beaches all have Blue Flags and are extremely well maintained.

Tennis Communal Pools: Tennis in the Algrave is an all year round sport as is golf as the climate is perfect and the scenery spectacular, especially at Vale do Lobo, where the tennis academy is wonderful, and you can have private coaching, you can also share an hour with a coach, half an hour each. There are numerous tennis clubs scattered around the surrounding areas, Villas & Vacations and the superb Quinta do Lago, being another two of the best.

There is a communal pool (open may-Sept) with tennis courts, in the lush park directly behind the house and round the corner at Xenia, there is another communal pool with bar/cafe.

Why Jan Baldwin chose Almancil area

The house is 20 minutes from Faro Airport so you can start your holiday almost immediately as you don't have far to travel to get to it. You are close to the beach and excellent restaurants but it is not in a resort, therefore, is very relaxing and it would be better to hire a car to get about.

What makes this house unique

The setting is beautiful, with lots of pine trees and the beach a short walk away. It is so very relaxing but close enough to the buzz if you want it, about a 15 minutes drive away. The house is very well appointed, with everything you require, close to the beach, restaurant, golf courses. It is private with an enclosed garden, with pool and lush park directly behind, which is excellent for little ones with the swings, carousel and shute.

Great Villa and Location

The owners of the villa from the start were very helpful, they sent lots of information to assist our stay and traveling to the villa. The villa itself is perfect, a great location, near to the beach with access either by walking through the nature park or 5 mins by car, the villa is well equipped, the bedrooms are lovely each having their own balcony, one catching the sun in the morning the other in the afternoon. We stayed in May and did not need to put the aircon on at night. The area is very clean, lots of restaurants nearby if required or good selection of supermarkets. The area is good for sightseeing, good markets, nice villages and towns. Local fish market is good value. The beach is ideal for walking along, but sea was very rough when were there, overall a great place to stay

Owner's Response: All our guests have been excellent to deal with and have appreciated all the literature I send them, before they fly off on holiday. Once they get to the house everyone has been delighted, by the house itself, the interior, the pool and gardens which have the sun all day, how well equipped the house is and it's proximity to all amenities, restaurants, supermarkets, sports activities, villages, etc,etc and also the beach. All our guests have thoroughly enjoyed themselves, (many have returned) and this is what we want for everyone as holidays are very important.

Comfy home from home

This is the third time we have stayed in this Villa and for the third time it didn't disappoint. The house is extremely well equipped, clean, tidy and has everything you could possibly need on holiday (and a few handy things you don't think you will need). We especially loved having such a well stocked kitchen allowing us to cook our own food and sample all the delicious produce - the fish and prawns are especially good! We dinned well into the evening on both the bedroom balcony and in the back garden by the pool. The pictures of the house don't really do it justice - it's much more comfortable when you are there. Each time we have stayed Jan and Tony have been very helpful - providing lots of details including getting from the Airport which was especially helpful. Directions to various sizes of local supermarkets was also very handy to have. The area is really peaceful and quite which we enjoyed - it's a great house for just chilling out away from everything! Though if you do want to see and do there's plenty around just make sure you hire a car! The local beach really is 10/15 mins walk so you don't have to go far at all for that luxury. The only small down side to the area was we found dinning out was expensive if you want "UK type Food" but we would highly encourage you to try some of the local run Portuguese places. These are far better value and are usually very good. It's not uncommon for a free glass of Port at the end of your meal which is a nice touch.

All in all - great house, lovely place and i'm sure we will be back.

Our home from home - perfection

When we walk in this property, the immediate feeling is one of coming home. A perfect location to unwind, in the perfect location.

We have been coming back here every year for 5 years now and will be back in 2015. It's where we can shake off the stresses of home and truly enjoy holiday as a family.

With a reasonable sized kitchen, excellent living area, leading into the home of everything, the pool.

The pool has been where our children have learned to swim and grow up and where they still get beaten at pool soccer every year.

Bedrooms upstairs with en suite allow relaxation and setting of a cool area for those hot days and balmy nights of summer.

Jan as our host is always helpful and so fantastic to deal with. Everything is prepared, everything is easy to discuss.

What more do I need to tell you about the best kept secret?

Get a taxi from AlgarveT to anywhere nearby - Simply Tapas e Vinho, Or Vale Do Lobo praça is no problem and they will always come and get you.

Just open the door and feel your shoulders relax and time take a new meaning as you can forget the day to day and enjoy every minute here.

Home from home

This year (2015) will be our 10th year staying at Jan and Tony's villa. It is the most delightful place to stay and is really a home from home. It is a quiet and relaxing place and only a short walk to the beach. The pool is wonderful and has been enjoyed by our nieces and nephews over the years. I would certainly recommend this villa for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing holiday with all the comforts of home. Helen and Tony Cavaco

Just Perfect!

From booking this villa until we arrived for 2 weeks, it was just brilliant. We have stayed many times during the past few years and just love it. It really is a home from home. I love where this house is situated and it is in a very pretty area. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for eating in and the pool is great after a day of touring around. Everything is immaculate and extremely well looked after. There are many restaurants near by though a car is essential as there are so many places to visit. We walked to the beach and again there are quite a few bars etc and I particularly enjoyed having a cold beer and looking out across the sea seeing all the different boats. This villa really is perfect and I feel it just gets better every year, if that is possible. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on the Algarve. Can't wait until July this year for our 2 week holiday. Jan & Tony really do go the extra mile to make a holiday special and will help in anyway they can.

Great Stay and Introduction to Portugal

The Villa at Vale do Garrao was the perfect place to begin our vacation in Portugal. It is well maintained and includes all the amenities required for easy living. The large kitchen is well equipped with a washer, dryer, and dishwasher. The vila is as depicted in the description and photos. For 2 of the 3 weeks of our stay, there were 4 of us. The villa is large enough that we never felt cramped or in need of more space. The location is within walking distance to a number of beaches. We had a car and found grocery shopping in Almancil provided a number of choices. I would say the biggest advantage of the property is the friendly and helpful attitude of the owners. Because this was our first experience in Portugal, I had a lot of questions. Jan was extremely helpful and provided not only her standard information package, but also many other helpful suggestions. We became email friends as a result. I highly recommend the villa and know anyone who stays there will come away feeling the same way. M. Cox Canada

Close to lovely little villages, 20 minutes drive from Faro Airport, Vale do Garrao is in the Golden Triangle or Millionaires Triangle, between Vale do Lobo and Quinto do Lago. Set in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve next to Ancao & Garrao's stunning blue flag beaches. You will find wonderful golf courses, tremendous tennis academy, fantastic horse riding, all types of water sports, fishing and sailing trips, plenty waterparks, zoo's , walks, safari rides, wind surfing, surfing and the best go-karting track. The towns have quaint shops and superb restaurants, supermarket, banks, chemists, etc. Vale do Lobo's Praca (20/25 min walk) has amazing restaurants overlooking the sea, all serving superb food. Vale do Garrao is also close to Vilamoura and marina with gourmet restaurants, 1 casino and nightclub and Albufeira, catering more for the young and trendy, with numerous bars and nightclubs, something for everyone in the surrounding areas and both only 10/15 mins drive away.

Golf: Golf is at its best in the Algarve as the courses and fairways are beautifully maintained and manicured, with either spectacular views across the sea or rolling mountains and as the weather and temperatures all through the year are great, can be played at any time of the year. They are scattered all around and there is never a course very far from where you are, here is a list of some close by: Vale do Lobo has the world renown 18th hole which is over the cliffs. All the greens are carefully manicured and Vale do Lobo is up to world class standard, having one numerous awards.

  • Bathrooms have been newly tiled and have just had all new sinks and WC's. They are all tastefully decorated clean, bright and airy. The Master Bedroom en-suite has bath, his and her sinks, bidet and wc. The twin bedroom has sink, shower, wc and the cloakroom downstairs has sink and wc.

The main bedroom has a TV (sky) & large terrace, which overlooks the private garden, pool and a lush, green park, which lies at the back of the house, surrounded by trees and having at the far end a communal pool (open May-sept) & tennis courts, not visible from the house, in the evening, you can hear the gentle flow of the sea. There is a large en-suite which has bath, shower, WC, bidet and his and her sinks. The twin bedroom has a sofa bed (also 1 in lounge) therefore we can accommodate 8, which after the usual 4 people, is extra per person. The double twin bedroom has a balcony which overlooks the front terrace and catches the very early morning sun, the en-suite, has sink, wc and shower. Both the front and back gardens have the sun all day, the front till 5pm and the back till it goes down All towels are provided. Maid service weekly to change beds, tidy and clean, etc

Faro has a shopping mall with supermarket and cinema, 9am till 10pm & in the high season June, July, August & part of September till 12 midnight.
