The Lodge at Colonel’s Island!
I really want you to think of my home as your home. I’ve designed it just for you…to be your perfect home…away from home.
The Lodge is three bedrooms, two baths of rustic luxury, updated with modern conveniences to give you a true retreat from the stress and worries of everyday life. Nestled on 1.5 acres of pristine woodlands and wetlands on Colonels Island, Georgia, The Lodge is the perfect sanctuary to relax, refresh, renew.
Improving on Perfection-
And to help make it even better, don’t worry about check in or check out times…or about what to do with your dog. Dogs and pets are always welcome. And you don't need to worry about how you’re going to get around (bikes, golf carts, kayaks and other boats are available for rental). There’s even a fishing charter close by for an adventurous day on the water.
The sun awakens you on your first morning at The Lodge. Out the window, in the mist, a doe and two fawn sample the grass at the edge of the woods. You wander outside onto the screened porch or the back deck where the only sounds are the coo of a nearby mourning dove and the screech of a red tail hawk somewhere in the distance. This is the start of a beautiful day of meditation, bike riding, fishing and fulfillment that ends long after sunset. And your nighttime entertainment is a crystal clear star show that you’ve never seen under city lights.
After many years in the corporate world, Danny and I put all of our energy AND relaxation into a little Island Paradise that we would like to share with you.
Cookie Lopez & Danny Atkins purchased this cottage in 2010
We love the feeling of the trees nestled on the property, giving you an incredible feeling of serenity and relaxation. We saved this property by maintaining the natural beauty while renovating this adorable spacious Lodge among the trees. Enjoy the serenity or a fun filled activity day. Pets are always welcome!
The Lodge is set among the most beautiful Spanish Moss filled trees! When you sit on the front screen porch or the back deck, you can't help but feel the serenity around you. One of the most unique things about The Lodge is that you can enjoy the ultimate escape and relaxation, try the adventurous side of things, or a little bit of both! There are SO many things to do! Please enjoy our private dock on the Jones Creek that runs into the Atlantic * just 1 mile from the Lodge. You can fish, swim, float, kayak, explore the Island 'golf cart style', take a boat ride to the Island Beaches for the day, charter a fishing boat and catch Flounder, Redfish, Black Drum and more, ride bikes, go play a round of Golf, lay out in the sun just looking at the incredible marshes and views, enjoy a yummy Low Country Boil (please pre-order), check out the local shops, cook smores on a campfire, relax in the hot tub, read a book while listening to the wind blow....
Please ask your Hostess Cookie about prices/rentals and other activities that interest you.
We had a lovely, restful time at the Lodge. It is so comfortable and well appointed. It had everything we could need, including a great screened porch to sit on under the huge oak trees and just relax! Cookie and Danny are the best hosts....we were there for the month of December and Cookie had Christmas lights on the porch and around the bar and seasonal greenery everywhere. When we arrived at 8 that night there were 'sliders' warming in the oven, olive salad in the fridge and music playing. We enjoyed our month there and would definitely return...
The owner was GREAT, property too! The hurricane hit the area and this house was under repair. She was able to accommodate us in another property nearby that was actually larger, and dog friendly. The area is somewhat off beaten path, but makes for a quiet, friendly neighborhood. River access, although we didn't have opportunity to use it.
Cookie was the BEST !! We hope to book another stay in the near future.
What a perfectly affordable hideaway! We were looking for a place to lose ourselves & commune with nature, while visiting all that southeast GA has to offer when we found this little jewel! Upon arrival, Cookie & Danny made us feel at-home! We took a boat trip around Ossabaw & St. Catherines Islands! What a memorable trip around the marshlands! We were able to do a lot of sightseeing from Colonels Island (Midway, Richmond Hill, South Savannah, & Darien's own Mudcat Charlie's). I would be remiss if I did not mention Cookie's world famous Low Country Boil! Amazing! We will definitely be back for an encore performance! Well done Cookie!
We had a terrific time on Colonel's island. What a warm welcome we received when we arrived - fresh flowers and freshly prepared snacks! The house was fantastic - cozy with enough room for two adults and 2 kids. The hammock was a welcome spot for reading, and we all enjoyed exploring the island by foot and bicycles. We had an excellent day on the water with Capt. Mark - which Cookie arranged for us. When we returned from our day on Ossabaw we had time to get cleaned up and then returned to the dock for a delicious seafood feast! That was one of the highlights of the trip - friends from the island were engaging to talk to, the food was amazing, and the boys got to run and play in the yard! We went home full and happy! Cookie is a fabulous host - warm, generous and accommodating!
The very first time my wife and I visited the island, we stayed at the lodge! It was a holiday weekend and I was desperately trying to find a place near the water for a small vacation with our boat! That is when our paths crossed with Cookie for the first time! We met Our Island Family that weekend and we have been a part of that family ever since! We stayed at the lodge nestled under a huge Oak Grove and it was so peaceful and relaxing! Cookie would bring us Coffee and muffins in the morning leave them for us which was amazing! The Island Family consist of more than just Cookie and if you have been there before, you understand! The people on this island really make you feel at home and if you choose to stay at the lodge, I guarantee you will come back. There is a huge dock at The Casita which is owned by Danny and Cookie and you can dock your boat over night and its a short distance from the lodge where all you have to do is grab a bag of snacks and jump in the boat to enjoy a beautiful day on the water! Look no further if you want a very reasonable price and nice quiet getaway, because if you stay at The Lodge, you will come back! Danny and Cookie are awesome and making sure your stay is the best experience it can be!!!! Thanks Danny and Cookie! Miss you guys!
