I purchased this property to be my primary residence in Washington DC. I lovingly and professionally restored this property to bring out the charm of this gorgeous historic rowhouse while including modern 21st century luxury features. I lived in this exact same apartment for several years until moving out of town recently.
Bill Powers purchased this house in 2002
The location is unbeatable and the block is gorgeous! I wanted something that was quintessentially Capitol Hill, in the heart of this historic neighborhood and on a tree-lined block with other beautiful homes.
Quite simply, the access from this house is too good to be true! I can easily walk to dozens of restaurants, bars and shops as well as many of the nation's finest monuments, museums and memorials. The Capital South Metro station is half a block away and can have me in most other parts of DC within 15-20 minutes or at the airport (DCA) in 30 minutes. When I need to drive, the house is just three blocks from the freeway (I-395).
This was a great location for a family of 5. Close to the Metro station and to the local grocery store (Harris Teeter), as well as within walking distance of the various sites on the Mall. There is also a great playground a very short walk away. Bill was very responsive and helpful (we had an issue with the washing machine and he let us use the one downstairs). Accommodations were very comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable house in a quiet area, which was ideal for five adults. It was easy to get to the Capitol, Mall and museums on foot and for other locations around DC the metro stop was really convenient. We were glad of the air conditioning as the weather was very warm for late October. Bill was helpful if there were any problems and was easily contactable. A great family holiday and celebration in an ideal location. There were several restaurants on the next block and more on Pennsylvania Avenue and some very good food carts at lunchtime.
We had a wonderful stay. The home was great and in a good location. The property owner is very responsive and wants to make sure you have a nice time.
This property is in a very nice neighborhood and has a drive way for parking. It is located less than a block from the Capital South stop for the Metrorail. The house itself has plenty of room for multiple guests. The space is comfortable and adequately furnished and equipped. The best things about this property are the location and the parking on-site. We drove into the city, parked our large SUV at the house and used the Metro to get around all weekend. This is a great place to stay based on the price, location, and parking.
The location of the house was wonderful! We loved walking to the Capitol at night for a concert of the Marine Corps Band and loved walking around the block to eat dinner at a restaurant.
Thank you for providing plenty of paper products and especially the coffee to get us started every morning.
The property was clean and well-appointed with plenty of room for our family of eight. The neighborhood is quiet and we felt safe walking both to a neighborhood grocery store a few blocks away as well as to the Mall even late at night. Bill responded to emails and texts quickly and seemed ready to jump on any issues that came up though we didn't have any. I can't emphasize strongly enough to take advantage of the metro line about a block away to get to get around DC. Even if you are just visiting the Smithsonian or White House there is a train that will get there or back in a few minutes. We walked everywhere the first day and it as a bit rough on the younger kids.
You will not find a better Capitol Hill location! The very best of Capitol Hill and Washington DC are located just outside the door! This apartment is literally steps from the Capitol South metro station, one block from the House of Representatives office buildings and two blocks from the U.S. Capitol!
It is walking distance to the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, the National Mall and its monuments, museums and memorials, Metro (orange and blue lines), dozens of restaurants, bars and shops along Pennsylvania Avenue, Union Station, the historic Eastern Market, the Barracks Row district of even more restaurants, bars and shops, the Washington Nationals baseball stadium, many beautiful parks and green spaces and it also has easy access to and from Interstate 395.
