Overview

About the property

Newly Renovated, Cottage Feel With Modern Amenities.

Newly renovated, cottage feel with modern amenities. Perfect for a couple or small family. Pet friendly. One bedroom (additional EZ bed available), full bath, kitchen and dining area, living room, wood stove, patio, 10x12 deck, fire pit. WIFI, Dish, air, reverse osmosis tap water. 650 square feet. Lake access 3/10 of a mile, joint access with boat mooring available. Due to swimmers itch swimming is safe waste deep but lengthy wading in the shallow is risky. I have been swimming in Duck Lake for 11 years and have never had swimmers itch, as long as you are careful and towel off the risk is very low. There are areas of the lake where you can wade and play fizbee, etc without concern but you need to boat there, thus a boat or kayak is a great way to enjoy this lake. Interlochen State park and Interlochen Arts Academy 1.5 miles north. State park has a nice beach area and the Arts Academy houses many prominent concerts and performances in multiple art forms. Just a short distance away from Traverse City, MI, host of the National Cherry Festival, Traverse City Film Festival. Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsula's with over 20 vineyards. Many lakes, rivers and beaches within 20 minute radius. Lake Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes 30 minutes. Many golf resort opportunities: Grand Traverse Resort, Arcadia Bluffs, Crystal Mountain and many other smaller courses.

Perfect small cabin

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I, along with our german shepherd, stayed here for three days last year. We enjoyed it so much that we did it again this year. The cabin is super cozy. It's small but has an awesome open feel with large window walls and high ceilings. It has all the modern amenities like satalite TV and wifi, fridge and microwave, stove etc. We loved the little fireplace. The bed is a little small for two people but we made it work just fine. The town is really nice. Hofbrau is a cool restaurant that has a nice bar and an excellent craft beer selection. We took stunning pictures at sleeping bear dunes. Visited several breweries and shops in traverse city. Walked the trails near the house. Last year we took our dog swimming in the lake at the end of the street but I wouldn't recommend swimming there because of the stagnant water issue. We've rented several cabins on home away and this is by far our favorite. We like the homey feel that it has. We will rent this cabin again.

Good setting for vacationing with pets

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as the owner, Nancy, described and available if needed; including the kayaks, which I did not use during my late Oct. trip. Spent a wonderful, sunny fall afternoon visiting with relatives on the deck with the new outdoor sectional. The location was quiet and restful. The house was very dog friendly and not full of delicate items I needed to worry my dogs might accidently knock over. While there are other houses on the street none of them were very close. I was able to walk the dogs on the gravel road in a nice wooded area or head in the opposite direction and walk on a paved road. It was very helpful to have the carport because it rained continuously on my departure day so I was able to stay dry while packing to head home. Although I did not attend any Interlochen events during my stay, it is very close, making this is an ideal location if Interlochen is part of a planned visit.

Relaxing and quiet

  • 4 of 5

It was a rainy weekend and we had two dogs! There were places to get out in between raindrops and walk dogs!! The wood stove was wonderful, and kept the cabin very cozy!! There is backup heat, but, preferred to burn wood that was stacked outside under shelter!! I also love to cook and kitchen was well stocked, small, but, very doable!!!!
