We are a family run, dog friendly B&B that provide superb comfortable accommodations in a beautiful villa, in a gorgeous tranquil setting with views of Cuenca and only 10 minutes to El Centro.
We are permaculture / Aquaponics enthusiasts - our last business in the U.S.A was aquaponicsurbanfarm.
We are about to start creating another Aquaponics farm (June 2014) as well as nurturing chickens and possibly goats to provide us and our guests with the best possible organic food, and to share our love of Aquaponic systems and urban farming.
Haley, Bodi, and the whole gang made being away from home a lot less like being away from home. Bodi's a great cook and Haley's a wonderful hostess. This visit has exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend a stay here if you want an experience that is truly out of the ordinary.
We loved staying here! Very kind hosts, super comfy bed. Bohdi is an awesome chef and he accomodated our vegan diet with some truly delicious vegan pancakes. I highly recommend this place!
I recommend you to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY. My husband and I stayed there for 6 nights and every day we had to wake up the owners so they would give us the breakfast that was included in the price. On one of those days, we waited for an hour for breakfast because they had to go to the nearest corner store to buy eggs!
The WORST is the fact this was the only place where we stayed in Ecuador where we were charged an extra $10 for the cleaning that was NEVER provided. Even the first day we arrived I noticed the floor was not properly cleaned because I removed my shoes and kept my sock on, just to remove them later on full of dust and hair from the 4 dogs and 2 cats they keep in the house.
During our 6 night stay they NEVER cleaned the room or the bathroom. They NEVER either picked up the garbage in the bathroom or cleaned the shower. They NEVER changed the sheets or the towels. They didn’t provide us with the standard soap or shampoo that we were provided with in the other 3 places we stayed in Ecuador.
The location is also not ideal because you have to either take a taxi and be prepared to spend at least 6 dollars daily for taxis or do your daily exercise by walking uphill on a dirty road for 20 minutes to the main road where you can catch a bus.
We had a wonderful time in Cuenca. Hayley and Bodhi were very helpful during our visit and recommended some great activities we might have missed otherwise. They were very accommodating and made sure we had an excellent visit. Thier home had beautiful views and only a $3 cab ride to anywhere we wanted to go. Overall great experience!
I and my wife absolutely loved staying here. The setting was lovely and our hosts, Hayley and Bodhi, were gracious and a pleasure to stay with! We truly got the flavor of living in Ecuador, and it was invaluable! We will be returning later this year!
Bob and Lorri
Bodhi, Haley, and their adorable children, Isla & Kodo, are gracious hosts. This is a B&B, but also their private residence - so don't expect hotel accommodations/amenities... however, if there's anything missing or that you need - just ask, if available - they will provide. Taxi transportation to & from town is readily available and quite affordable... it is accessible by foot - but you have to be physically fit for the walk and the steep hills. Their venue is located about 10 minutes outside of Cuenca's metro area and has the most beautiful view of mountains and surrounding countryside. If you opt to stay in for a meal - Bodhi is quite the chef and will prepare trout from their pond, salad fixings from their aquaponic gardens, and eggs from their chicken coop. After spending 10 days in the country, this venue being the 4th hostel - I experienced the best sleep here of all the other places!
Directions via Taxi / Car - (We can arrange airport pick up with an English speaking driver, they charge $20 for this service)
Tell the taxi driver you want to go to "El Cebollar". This is the town (pueblo) that is closest to us, most drivers will know it, if they look uncertain, tell them it's just past the junction of the streets (calles) Aberlado J. Andrade Y Del Chofer.
As you're coming up the hill, you'll see a building on the left that says "Centro de cultural, El Cebollar". 1.5 blocks past this on the right, you'll see a "Pollo Express". Take a right turn immediately after the Pollo Express, the street name is Hernan Coelo Garcia but it's poorly marked. On that corner there's a little store with a "Claro sign on it, and on the other side of that same corner, there's a show repair store. But most importantly, just remember it's the first right after Pollo express.
Go straight, 1 block down, tell the driver to go slow (despacio), the rd turns into a dirt rd, and you're going to go steep downhill all the way to the bottom.
At the bottom turn right, you'll go past a building that says "Azateepa". At the end turn left. If you look ahead and up hill, you'll see our house at this point, it's called "La Casa Blanca".
Many people close to our house will know La Casa Blanca, so ask passers by if need be. If you can't find us, have the driver drop you off at the Pollo Express on Aberlado J. Andrade and I'll come and meet you!
