Our family of six lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. When we vacation to one of the amazing places this earth has to offer we have a tradition of asking the locals where they go to vacation. If you already live in paradise, where in the world would you vacation to? Well folks in Hawaii said Fiji, and folks in Boone, NC said Watauga Lake. So when we were looking for a vacation home of our own to serve as a place of respite and rejuvenation, we started that search in Watauga Lake. We couldn't be happier with the amazing home we are now blessed to be able to call our own!
Justin Nevill purchased this house in 2014
I surprised my family with a little vacation and we had an amazing time together. The breathtaking views was wonderful and specially at dusk relaxing in the hot top watching the sun go down. I really recommend this beautiful home at the lake to anyone. Thank you so much for all the hospitality my family was shown at your home. It is home away from home for sure!!!
We were gathering our famiy for a vacation and found our stay here a wonderful relaxing experience for everyone! We found the house was even better than the pictures. The hot tub made the experience even better and of course the view was amazing!
Our family of four stayed here in July 2015. House was in great shape as the pictures depicted. This house is very roomy and consisted of a Master BR and 2 guest rooms. One room had 2 sets of bunk beds that our kids found very comfortable.
This is truly a getaway location with long scenic views of Watauga Lake and the mountains. It is very quiet and peaceful--we didn't realize how noisy our neighborhood back home was until we stayed here. It is very much a place to relax and decompress and get back to the basics. The house has a Wii and DishTV as well as several games. We brought some of our own as well.
A few things to note: there is no cell coverage at the house (at least AT&T). Not a big deal as there is a landline. The Internet access can be very spotty as well. So if you're planning on working during your vacation or your kids play online games then you may want to adjust your expectations. It actually forced us to not get on our personal electronics and hang out as a family :-)
Also, the closest well-stocked grocery is in Boone, about 30m drive away. Keep that in mind in your planning.
All in all, we would certainly stay here again. It is definitely a place to unplug, relax and get back to the simple things. Great communication with Justin, the owner. He sent us a welcome packet that will answer all your questions. Bring some good books and get back to basics.
My Husband, son 11, niece 12 & I spent 7 days at this beautiful house, the views are Awe-Inspiring, from the moment you wake up till late at night, I specially enjoyed just listening to the sounds of nature, in the mornings the birds or just the sound of the gentle breeze moving the trees, or wild animals running through trees or bushes. At night the kids had fun chasing fireflies while I watched from the porch. One evening on our way back from one of our activities we bought wood and had a scary story telling outside by the fire, while we ate hotdogs. The kids played on the Wii at times, my husband played his fiddle after breakfast. There was plenty to do around Tennessee. In Boone NC we ate a few times at a restaurant called Nob Hob Farm Cafe, they serve organic food, yes my kind of place, then bought organic food at the Earth Fare Grocery store to take back to the house. The house has everything you need to cook, & I cook from scratch. We did return before dusk since there are no lights up in the hills, and we wanted to relax in the jacuzzi while experiencing the sounds of nature. The house & it's surroundings felt safe, it was a wonderful experience. The owner was always available, the house has a landline which we used to make calls to reserve tours and attractions, cable wasn't always available for internet, & we didn't miss it either. There was always Cable TV, and after dinner the kids liked to watch the disney channel. We enjoyed staying there and would definitely return.
My partner and I spent four days at the lake house, and could not be happier. The house is in excellent shape, feels very cozy and has some of the most amazing views one can ask for. The house is well equipped so that all you have to pack is your clothes and food to prepare. The owners are wonderful to deal with, and made themselves available to us from the moment we started talking about staying at their lake house. I can't wait to go back!
I spent a delightful 2 days here with friends and family. It was comfortable, roomy, well-stocked, with breath-taking views of the river below and the mountains. I was most interested in R & R, but family members went kayaking, swimming, tubing and hiking nearby.
I will definitely stay there again, and would easily recommend to friends/ relatives.
Guests will receive a welcome kit full of additional activities.
