CAMPING, CAMPING CAMPING!! This may look like a cabin but it's NOT. It has everything, but walls, and is super neat for camping or a day party. It is an open pavilion with two changing rooms. One step up to the deck keeps you off the ground at night. Old fashioned outhouse (with commode and water) and electricity. It also has an outdoor shower reminiscent of Gulf Shores. It is in a secluded area with three other cabins nearby. It has its own boat ramp, deck, and a nearby dock for fishing in our slew. Refrigerator, cooler, charcoal BBQ grills , tiki torches and party lights at night are all there. It also has an old fashioned rock fire pit for fun or romantic evenings. Paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing, skiing, fishing, or just laying in the sun is all permitted and encouraged. LOL We even provide floats. A nice place to camp out or have birthday parties on beautiful Smith Lake. We rent it by the weekend. It it isn't rented by Friday we would rent it for a single night. It is only one slew away from Smith Lake Park and about a mile, by water, to the Castle and Captain Jon and Maggie's Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast.
3rd Generation Owner. The lake sits on my grandfather's bottom 40. (acres) The far bottom of the farm where he grew crops.
Willette Harbison purchased this barn in 1920
A great place to have a private family picnic or time away without others right on top of you.
Very serene and quiet. Usually pretty calm except holidays.
We rented this located for a graduation get together weekend in May of 2015 (I forgot to write a review initially). There were eight of us and it was amazing. Everyone loved the place. The cabin is shady with a beautiful lake view. The cabin was great for semi outdoor sleeping with a picnic table for eating and socializing. We grilled, fished, played games, built a bonfire and swam. We did see a few snakes in the water, but that is to be expected in the spring. The neighbors to the right came to clean up there home for summer and were extremely friendly. Mrs. Harbison was the nicest, friendliest person. I would recommend her cabin to anyone wanting a get-a-way night, weekend or week. I want to rent again for a private weekend for two because it is so peaceful and relaxing, a great place to be away from fast pace of life. Thank you again, Mrs. Harbison, for a wonderful weekend experience that provided a lifetime of memories.
This place is great! I'm not a camper at all, but I had no problem spending the weekend here. We felt right at home. The owner is such a nice and helpful person and the lake is BEAUTIFUL!!! We can't wait to go back.
I rented this cabin for my husband's birthday. He absolutely LOVED it here, and so did our friends. Nights were a bit cold, and the water was too, so I'll definitely be coming back when it's a bit warmer. The owner was so nice! Just the kind of people you hope to rent from. The property was VERY clean, and easy to find! Still had cell reception and everything. I HIGHLY recommend renting this!!!
Great place to relax. Enjoy the outdoors and a beautiful lake. We enjoyed the fishing , the owner was very helpful and informative.
Had a wonderful stay for a friend's bachelor party. Such a great place to grill and have a cold one by the lake! Easy to get to and Dollar General isn't far if you need any groceries (excluding beer, dry county). The Harbison's were very welcoming and our stay was awesome!
Had a wonderful time. Very peaceful and quiet. Great location for family fun. It is such a beautiful location to just kick back and relax in. Very nice to be able to bring our furry family member with us also. The Harbison's are such sweet people. They went out if their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to go back !!
Smith Lake Park with a pool and park activities is only a few miles away. Local Dowling Park has a concrete walking trail for walkers and bicyclers plus swings and slides for the tiny ones. The local store makes great pizza's at a very reasonable price and the new Crooked Chimney restaurants serves full meals with a meat and two with dessert and a drink twice daily.
