About Sabrina Burke

We are a local family...we live right here in Port St. Joe and we LOVE IT! Mitch was born and raised in Port St. Joe and is now an elected county official. Sabrina is originally from Albany, Georgia, but has called Port St. Joe home for over 17 years and owns a local real estate business. This property was purchased in 2006 and we have been enjoying it ever since. Originally purchased as a downtown office, we converted the property back to its original roots as a charming downtown cottage in 2010. We have enjoyed staying here and pretending we were on vacation...walking and biking to downtown restaurants and shopping...kayaking and boating on the Bay...biking to the parks. Why go anywhere else?! We hope that you'll enjoy Bay Town Cottage as much as we have!

Why Sabrina Burke chose North West Florida

This charming cottage is one of the best downtown locations in Port St. Joe! Everything to do in town is within walking distance...you can park your car and put away your keys until time to check out...this is what rest and relaxation is all about!

What makes this cottage unique

The most unique benefit...and best benefit...is that you have a LOCAL owner right here in Port St. Joe to assist you with any of your needs during your stay. Whether you need a recommendation for where to get a pedicure...the best place to get fresh oysters...or where to get your fish cleaned...you name it, we can point you in the right direction! We look forward to you staying with us!

Guestbook comments from the owner

In Scotland we believe that to hand out a blessing will have a thousand blessings returned. To the Burkes I wish you God's Blessings. For this house, such a beauty, a wee jewel, is the crown that is Port St. Joseph. This is a greeting from a Scotsman, a "vagabond" who found refuge and peace and sanctuary whilst staying here.

The property itself was great, misleading about how close the beach and things to do were. Nice !

Great place to stay just a little to far from beach. Cottage was just as described online.

Great location

Great location. Close to the state park and cape San Blas where the beaches are beautiful. Very clean house. We enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and in the back yard in the evenings. Owner was very nice and it was an enjoyable experience overall.

Ideal Location to Enjoy Heart of Beach Community

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is cozy, and the layout is ideal for a smaller home. We were able to place two kiddos in the front bedroom, while us adults spread out in the middle bedroom with two beds, and our other two kiddos were in the end/sun room on the other side of us. The back room featuring the futon is a nice, sunny space with lots of room for the futon converted into a full-sized bed, our full size pack-n-play, and our large luggage open in the floor. The jack-and-jill bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, front porch, and back yard suited our needs perfectly. The house is clean, full of natural light, and very charming. The washing machine was indispensable for a beach vacation for a family of six!

Sunday, we spent time at the cottage and rested after traveling. We filled up a kiddie pool and spread out our outdoor blanket soaking up the shade from two magnolia trees and the heavenly scent of the abundant jasmine bordering the yard. That evening, we snagged a meal at Toucan's in Mexico Beach and enjoyed the pirate playground seen in the pictures of the cottage.

Monday, we drove to the state park and enjoyed the fabulous beaches and wildlife. It is a bit of a drive from the cottage compared to some other beaches, but the abundant shells and enchanting sea creatures made it a family favorite.

Tuesday, we ventured out to the shops downtown - just a few short blocks from the cottage and a very pleasant walk. Lots of nice variety a few steps away. Tuesday evening we went on a sunset cruise by Sea Horse Safaris, as suggested by Sabrina. It was definitely a highlight of the trip!

Wednesday, we hit the biking trails and enjoyed the playgrounds in the morning, and we made mosaics in the afternoon at The Artery Studio - a great place to get creative and make meaningful souvenirs.

Thursday, we enjoyed Mexico Beach in the morning and then took a drive to the Indian Pass Raw Bar for lunch. We continued on to Apalachicola to enjoy the old fashioned soda shop and other stores there. We drove even further to St. George Island to see the nice lighthouse there and the playground next to it.

Friday, we wrapped up our last day with another day at the state park beach, as requested by our kiddos. In the evening, we were able to enjoy a delicious meal at Provisions. We highly recommend the lobster bisque.

The cottage is clean, well-located, and charming, Sabrina is easy to work with, and everything was as advertised. We hope to return!!

Amazing and family friendly!

  • 5 of 5

This property was absolutely perfect! Quite area no traffic during spring break and only 5 mintue drive from a beautiful public beach. Not only was it beautiful, but very clean and we'll taken care of. What you see in the pictures is what the home looks like to the "t". Dealing with the owners was amazing! Sabrina and her husband know what customer service is all about! My kids loved the house especially the front porch, early morning walks down to the pirate ship play ground and evening walks around the bay finding hermit crabs! Downtown is literally 2 blocks away and the Mexican restaurant is a must! We found our new getaway!!

Port St. Joe is old Florida at its best. The historic downtown shopping district is where visitors to the area are encouraged to explore and discover the quaintness of the Port St. Joe community. Most downtown shops and restaurants are run by locals who have been described as 'the friendliest people you will ever meet'. For the individual who is searching for the right opportunity to leave the 'concrete jungle' behind to re-invent their life, the opportunities are endless in our neck of the woods. To quote one of our local establishments, Indian Pass Raw Bar, 'Throw open the car door and kiss the ground. You are here.'

Local festivities include a number of annual events. One of the most popular is the Scallop Festival, held in late summer each year. Christmas On The Coast and the Independence On The Coast (July 4th) are also popular events for tourists and locals alike. Other weekend activities include fishing tournaments, music in the park events, sporting events, and parades. There's always something to do in this quiet coastal community. This is a place where you can always make time for a sail when the breeze is blowing, and where Friday afternoons are for fishing. After all, this is a fishing town. And if you want to know the best places to fish, ask any local. In Port St. Joe everyone knows where the fish are biting.

Come July, our area is known for scalloping. Snorkle in the grass beds or wade barefoot off the shoreline, either way you'll discover the sweetest tasting scallops you've ever put in your mouth. And who knows, you may even see a sea turtle or dolphin along the way. The treasures of St. Joe Bay are bountiful.

Whether boating, fishing, kayaking, scalloping, shelling, horseback riding or just relaxing on the beach...you are about to discover a truly one-of-a-kind place!
