About Michelle Howard Waterfield
My name is Michelle Waterfield. My father, Mitchell Howard, Jr is the owner. I live on the mainland as does my father. I am a stay at home mom, and assist my dad in managing the rental. I am usually available to assist with basic needs regarding the home, and I am responsible for all of the bookings. My father is a self-employed carpenter who has owned this home since the mid 90s. We just recently opened it up as a vacation rental, and it is going well so far. My father is a native of the island, and I did a lot of growing up there as well. We are both pretty knowledgeable if you have questions or need suggestions.

Why Michelle Howard Waterfield chose Chincoteague Island
This home belonged to my great grandparents, so it is family owned. There are fond memories of chicken and dumpling Sunday dinners, childhood birthday parties, sitting in the front yard and my pop pop sitting out front under the willow tree next to his clam shack where he sold clams. The home is simple and traditional Chincoteague style. One of the best features of this home is close proximity to the Chincoteague Annual Pony Swim, we enjoy time with the family here every year for the special event!
What makes this House unique
The willow tree out front provides nice shad and there is a backyard sitting area with a very tiny deck but it is so nice for sitting out in the evenings. We enjoy grilling on the charcoal grill or eating sandwiches on the picnic table with the family. From the upstairs bedroom you can observe the Assateague lighthouse in the distance. You can faintly see the flickering light through the window in the evening. Another benefit, is the very close proximity to memorial park: enjoy the public boat ramp, playground equipment, fishing dock, gazebo and picnic area.

Fantastic Family Getaway
We had a fantastic trip, and the house was amazing.
Everything you need to enjoy this amazing island
The house was perfect for our family of 4. We wanted for nothing, the cabinets were stocked with dishes, and gadgets to make our stay very comfortable. The home was up to date, and spotless. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and s short walk to the memorial park was perfect for the boys to play basketball, and enjoy the playground. Thank you for sharing this awesome home!
we enjoyed our time at this property. It was completely clean and ready for our arrival. We were very pleased with the upstairs set up in particular, as it allowed for a close door between bedrooms giving us some space from our child. We were less enthusiastic about the first floor bedroom. It is dated, and the humid environment is not the best place for a plush carpeting. We very much enjoyed the wood floors and laminate throughout the rest of the home. The indoor outdoor rug in the kitchen was excellent! We were very pleased at the spacious kitchen arrangement which had an eat-in dining table. we made good use of the washing machine, although we really did not use the dryer. We preferred to use the clothesline outdoors, which was very nice. They are such beautiful iris all around the home, it will be a delight for the gardener who is there in May or June. We did recommend a flatware upgrade for the kitchen, which the manager graciously took into account. even though we had some car trouble on the island, it did not prevent us from enjoying our stay. We brought our bicycles with us and quickly learned that the Pony Express trolley stop is only a few doors down. The only other consideration that we might mention is that there is a oyster farm behind the property. This did make for a lot of driveway traffic first thing in the morning. We did not feel as though it detracted from our stay, but we did have to be more vigilant with a small child. The property was a little gem, and a perfect beach house for us.
Lovely home with great character
This was the perfect house for our family this summer! We flew out from Oregon to visit family and took some time to introduce our kids to the Atlantic. The house is not fancy but it was neat and tidy. We did not have problems with ants as mentioned in previous comments, but did put everything in the refrigerator. Michelle responded to quickly to all of our questions and was super helpful with local recommendations for activities and places to eat. Thank you for the great stay!
Perfect for our stay!
We planned our trip on impulse and found the property listed as “last” but it worked out great for our family. Our daughter loved the upstairs bedrooms for teenage privacy and the living room and patio were comfortable for relaxing. All questions were answered quickly, too. I’d definitely rent this property again!
Quiet, relaxing stay in a homey location
We really enjoyed staying in this house. It was quiet and comfortable and away from the busier touristy streets. The kitchen was nice for cooking our fresh seafood. The blender made some killer frozen drinks! The house is very personal, has nice historical memorabilia items around. It made us feel like we were staying at the house of a relative or friend. Would definitely recommend. Would definitely come back.
Thank you for your lovely review! Hope you will come back and stay with us again!
