5-STAR rating and the best floor plan around. This exceptional, over-sized floor plan 2 bedroom, large bath, full-size kitchen is only offered in a couple of units in the Truman Annex Shipyard. Large & private shaded deck along with a sunny outdoor patio/dining area. It feels more like a home than a condo. Relax at the Truman Annex Shipyard Pool - which is a minute walk from the condo.

SHABBY CHICKEN BEDROOMS & FLOOR PLAN (Ground Floor)...

The Shabby Chicken has 2 very spacious bedrooms, both with KING beds (or one bedroom can be converted into two twin beds) offering the privacy of each bedroom located on OPPOSITE sides of condo. Each bedroom has a TV, ample room to store clothes.

This exceptional, oversized floor plan is only offered in a couple of units in the Truman Annex Shipyard. The bathroom is also large and has a double vanity, walk-in shower. Our outdoor space is 2-3 times the size of other condos.

Two sets of French doors in the centrally located living room and window in the full-size kitchen provide sunlight and a spacious feeling not found in other units.

LIVING AREA & KITCHEN...

The central living area with new large, leather sectional couch with a full size kitchen provides a great floor plan for 2-4 people. The kitchen is equipped with all new appliances, countertop, modern backsplash and finishes. There is counter-top seating and a large dining table with beautiful lighting and seating for four or more that is stylish and functional.

OUTDOORS...

Two sets of French doors lead to the HUGE, MULTI-SPACE OUTDOORS.

Enjoy morning coffee or an intimate dinner at the comfortable dining table on the large, covered, private deck. The deck also has two interesting Polynesian bamboo chairs and a brand new Weber gas grill! Step down to the herringbone brick patio that is able to accommodate a small party to dine alfresco. Or take a relaxing nap or read a book on the lounger under the palm (we're not kidding!).

Less than a one minute walk to the pool

AMENITIES...

This ground floor condo is very clean, and has well-appointed bedrooms which have been completely updated with beautiful linens, art work and comfortable beds. A new washer/dryer are located within the unit for your convenience. The fully equipped kitchen with all new appliances, pots & pans, towels & linens and central air conditioning provide all the amenities you want for long- and short-term stays.

You'll also enjoy a 32' flat screen TV in the living room with an Italian-made large, leather sectional. Secure wireless Wi-Fi and and Bluetooth speaker for your device to connect to for music.

Our condo is outfitted with beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler, etc. We also have designated on-site parking, although it's likely you will not need (or want) to get in your car while you're here.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL...

The Shabby Chicken (for it's shabby chic design) has interesting design elements, such as vintage clocks, modern geometric patterns, original artwork from Cuba and local artists, wood carvings from the Philippines and India, along with beautiful tapestries. The place feels very luxurious, contemporary, and relaxing.

PROXIMITY TO PLACES...

The Shabby Chicken is within easy walking and biking distance to everything Old Town Key West has to offer, including Fort Zachary Beach and a one minute walk to the Truman Annex pool. Walk down to the Truman Annex waterfront to take in a special and low-key sunset for which only the locals know about. Walk or bike through the gorgeous Truman Annex over to happening Mallory Square for shops, museums, and special events.

Come and see what is special about the Shabby Chicken...it's not too shabby after all.

About Tom and Marie

We both grew up in Ohio, met at Ohio State University, married and moved to Charlotte, NC. Ten years ago we relocated to Chicago. Living in Chicago is great, but the winters are long and the city is hectic. Visiting Key West allows us to slow down and really enjoy a different pace of life.

Why Tom and Marie chose Old Town

We purchased this property, and named it The Shabby Chicken, for the shabby chic design we choose for the place. The Shabby Chicken is a sanctuary from when life has you running around like a chicken. The lifestyle in Key West and amazing sunsets can all teach us to keep life simple and take pause when you can. The only rush hour here is the walk to your favorite happy hour. We retreat to the keys to unwind and relax, hear live music, eat great local seafood.

What makes this condo unique

Our ground floor, large floor plan condo offers more light as the whole back of the place has french doors and windows. The large outdoor deck and patio offers privacy and shade when you want it plus plenty of seating. There is a pull up area at the front door, which makes for easy loading and unloading of suit cases, groceries, etc. You'll have an designated parking spot for your vehicle.

We're owners of the Rooster Retreat (VRBO 420646) for which you can see the 5-star ratings our renters have experienced during their Key West vacation. The Truman Annex location is unbeatable and where you want to stay. Here at the Shabby Chicken, the space both indoors and outdoors gives you a true resort feeling. This large floor plan is only offered in 2 other condos in the complex. The 2 bedrooms located on opposite ends of the condo, each with king beds (or separated twins) provides lots of privacy you and your guests. The double vanity bathroom is also spacious. We chose interesting design elements, such as vintage clocks, modern geometric patterns, and original artwork from Cuba, India, and local artists. The place feels very luxurious, contemporary, and relaxing. The comfortable beds ensure your restful nights. The outdoors is thoughtfully set-up to accommodate an intimate dinner on the deck, or a small party on the set-down patio or reading a book on the lounger. The two french doors leading out to the deck makes the space feel open. Use the Weber gas grill before heading out for the evening. Come check out the Shabby Chicken and see what a great place it is!

Perfect Location! Quiet Getaway

STAY HERE MY FRIENDS. I've stayed all over the island, but Shabby Chicken takes the cake for a smaller group! It's in Truman Annex, so it's secure. It's location lines up more with the middle of Duval which makes everything accessible by foot & that much easier by bike. If you know the island, this place is in a 4 block radius of Blue Heaven, The Crepe place, Firefly, Santiago's Bodega, Sarabeth's, The Green Parrot Bar, the Cuban Coffee Queen's location off Duval, a Fausto's grocery store and Bank of America. It's so ridiculously convenient. There is a bike rental shop half a block up from the condo too. {$60 for the week/bike} You can lock your bikes on the front porch. It's a nice ride on the bikes out to Ft Zachary Taylor Beach, which is the nice, public beach in Key West. It's nicer than Higgs Beach, in my opinion. They have re-paved the road going in, made bike lanes and there is a nice entry way, you pull up and pay your $2.50 for the day for bike access. Shabby Chicken is near the guard shack & it's a main entrance. But despite the appearance of heavy traffic it was very quiet. The upstairs neighbors were only heard when they came and went, which was reasonable hours. Shabby Chicken was clean and efficient for our group, a couple & a single person in the 2nd Bedroom. Huge comfy couch. Lovely shaded back porch with a grill that was clean & stocked with utensils and propane. A bathroom easily shared by the 3 of us. There were plenty of beach and bath towels, and 2 cooler bags for the beach or boating. There's a community pool in the complex that is short walk & there are already chairs poolside. The condo has a parking spot, but you don't need a car. {Share a cab from EYW, don't go solo, it's more expensive, then walk or bike. They have lyft & uber too.} Marie was very easy to deal with, she was responsive and communicative through our booking process. Everything was easy, and we had no issues during our stay. Stay here, relax, enjoy the weather, eat some shrimp, ride your bikes, go the beach, charter a boat for an ECO tour -[ i highly recommend Ally from AWS Charters - 305-834-2715 go out for half a day and relax on a sand bar in the Gulf. I've been out with her twice on 2 different stay, she's a gem] and just have the best vacation ever in Key West, Like I did!

Fantastic! Would highly recommend!

It was our first time in Key West and we could not have picked a better place to stay! Marie was kind and very easy to work with. The place was exactly as pictured and described. The layout was perfect for two couples, with the bedrooms on opposite sides of the unit. The location was perfect, we rented scooters and bikes less than two blocks away. I would recommend their place to anyone, and would definitely stay here again! Thank you Tom and Marie!

Our condo is in the heart of old town Key West. Enjoy a three minute walk to Blue Heaven Restaurant, La Creperie, Green Parrot, along with taking in the sights, sounds, and characters on Duval Street. You are a short walk or bike ride from exciting Mallory Square where sunset is celebrated every evening, or walk out behind our complex to appreciate a low-key, quiet sunset from the Coast Guard pier. You are also minutes from Fort Zachary beach.
