About Manuel 'Manny' Bersach

We live in South Florida, but went to college in the State of Tennessee which is when we first started visiting Gatlinburg. We have vacationed in Gatlinburg ever since and love the memories and family times we've had here.

Manuel 'Manny' Bersach purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Manuel 'Manny' Bersach chose Tennessee

This property gives you the feeling of Mountain Retreat while having access to all the city conveniences within walking distance. The ease of accessability during inclement weather and ample drive way attracted us to this property. We loved the 3 level floor plan which can confortably accomodate our grown children and grandkids. The views without the risky drive are a plus.

What makes this cabin unique

location, decor, parking, views, the 3 king bedroom suites, fireplace in every room, TV's in every room. Spaciousnes! Nicely appointed gameroom.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Our families were there to celebrate the wedding of our daughter and their son!!! The cabin was beautiful!! It was very clean and the kitchen was very well-stocked with dishes, silverware, and cookware. We could have easily stayed at this cabin without doing other things (Dollywood, shopping, etc) and still had a wonderful time. It was so spacious to where we all had our own personal space but were able to enjoy each other’s company as well. The game room was a big hit with the guys and the kids!! The balcony on each level allowed us to take in the beauty of the mountains & surroundings. It was close enough to everything but far enough away to be out of the traffic.”

Beautiful cabin! Wonderful for families!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Above the Bears last weekend and had such a wonderful time! The cabin is beautiful and accommodated us perfectly...nine adults and three children. Having three master suites was really great. The views of the Smokies off the balcony made each morning really special! And the game room on the bottom floor was so much fun...all of us were able to relax there...and connect, which is exactly what our family was looking for! We've already recommended it to our friends...and can't wait to get back ourselves.

Exceptional as always!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this chalet at least 4 times now and enjoyed every visit. We will return again next year!

Pros:

Well maintained

Reliable internet/wifi

2 minutes from 321, so it is very convenient (5 minutes to grocery, restaurants, and Gatlinburg). The Little House of Pancakes is practically walking distance, and is a wonderful mom & pop breakfast stop with free and ample parking.

Electronic lock, so no need to stop at a local mgmt office to pick up keys

Ping Pong (not very common in chalets)

Plenty of cable channels

Nice view of mountains and other chalets (parkway is fortunately well hidden behind the trees)

Responsive and friendly chalet owner (Manny)

Cons:

When temperatures approached 90 degrees the dual HVAC struggled a bit to keep up (temps pushed into the high 70s in late afternoon but came back down in the evening). It may just need a freon recharge.

Lots of steps, so it might not be ideal for the elderly or disabled.

You can hear a bit of parkway noise on the deck (but not inside), so you may not have that "secluded in the woods" feeling. The trade-off is convenience, which for us is far more important. Wasting 15+ minutes driving on windy, steep backcountry roads gets old quick, and that is what you get with most chalets.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Above the Bears Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a great location. Very close to Gatlinburg and The Smoky Mountains National Park. It is also very close to a grocery store and convenient to get to Pigeon Forge and other attractions. The layout was great. We loved the ping pong, foosball, games, and hot tub. The views were beautiful. We had 6 adults and 2 toddlers and we were very comfortable.

Bedrooms for privacy

  • 4 of 5

Nice log home with three separate bedrooms, each with a separate bathroom and whirlpool tub. That was a big selling point for us. Having a washer and dryer is a big plus also. It was nice to be able to do a couple of loads of laundry to keep up. Also very impress with the bath towels that were provided.

The downside was the house could have been cleaner. Unde the couch in the living room on the second floor was food such as potato chips and other stuff. It didn't look like underneath the couch had been vacuum in some time. Also in the bedroom on the top floor was a condom package that was left from a prior visitor and a sock was underneath a chair out on the deck on the front deck on the second floor.

Overall the home is very nice and we enjoyed the stay. I would like to see it cleaner but maybe I'm expecting to much for a rental. I would recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We will address the cleanliness with our cleaning crew, unfortunately we don't have the ability to personally check cabin and trust our feet on the ground to do so! Rest assured it will be resolved for future visits. Thanks

Spacious, well-appointed, comfortable, convenient.

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 4 adults, 3 teens and 1 small child had a great time at this cabin. It had plenty of space for us all, and everyone really enjoyed the pool table, Foosball, and multiple other activities. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, utensils, and extras we didn't expect like a Kuerig machine. The location was convenient to town yet still felt secluded.

Loved it!!!

  • 5 of 5

Thrilled with this cabin. 7 of us had plenty of space. All accommodations and furnishings were nicely done. We loved family time in the game room. The location was just outside of the city but far enough up the mountain to enjoy the best part of Gatlinburg. 4 nights was not enough for us. We will be back.
