Brilliant home with brilliant host

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Green House Villas to kick off our trip to Machu Picchu. Driving into the town, the landscape with soaring mountains was unbelievable. It is a small village, but is very central to a number of activities in the sacred valley. We are always a bit nervous going to a new place renting someone's home, but this truly exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, we had a family emergency so my husband had to leave as soon as we arrived, and I was on my own with my two kids. Bryan was an incredible host, always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. He stocked the house with a welcome basket and food in the fridge, and was readily available if any issues arose. He arranged all of my transportation from various sites, as well as ensuring I got to the train station on time during our departure. Looking out the windows of the house was such a simple pleasure. I would never tire looking at the amazing mountain ranges in Peru. Bryan - thank you so much for all of your help during our stay. We will remember our trip always, and appreciate your kindness during some of our challenges!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Green House Villas exceeded our expectations. We were in the Yellow House. The layout suited our family of 4, there was lots of firewood available for our nightly fires. It gets cold at night and the blankets and beds were so comfortable we all slept very well. During the day sun streamed in through the 2 story windows. The showers had ample hot water and I was happy that the towels were thick and luxurious. I hadn't expected the level of finish to the villa to be such a high standard. Ellie the housekeeper did a great job with the villas, she always had a friendly greeting and a smile on her face. Our villa opened out onto the communal garden with flowers that attracted hummingbirds and butterflies.

Food: There was a welcome basket and breakfast for the first day provided by Brian. I had Brian pick up a few staples before our arrival as well as dinner. We had a creamy chicken stew with rice and I was able to top up with veggies. We opted to have most of our dinners provided by the Viva Peru Cafe around the corner. Carmen and Alex were so nice and made great food we were there at least once a day.

Location: I felt like we were in the middle of the Sacred Valley. Traveling to Pisac, Moray, Moras, Chincero, Ollantantambo seemed to be in an easy taxi ride. We were able to go to Machu Picchu, climb Huyanu Picchu and return Home by 8pm. Our next door neighbors used the local bus to get to the different towns. We used taxis to move around the valley and really liked having Pavel drive us around, he is a careful and concientious driver.

Service: As our family does not speak Spanish we were a bit apprehensive about choice to home stay rather than join a tour. Brian is a great host. He addressed all of my issues in a quick and timely manner via the HomeAway Mail system. His replies were informative and timely. When we arrived Brian and Daniel were at the villa to welcome us and explain the amenities in the villa. Brian left on holiday the next day but he made sure that we were still in the care of Daniel who organized our taxis and dinners. On my birthday Daniel had Alex come from the cafe and cook a dinner in our villa as a surprise.

We were so happy at our choice of staying at the Green House Villas from day 1. We made sure that we had some down time to enjoy the garden and the walk to the waterfall. 2 dogs joined us for the walk and ended up showing us the way. If we are lucky to return I would bring a fly swatter & Veggie peeler

Breathtaking home and wonderful, perfect holiday stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the good fortunate of staying at Gabriel and Bryan's home in the Sacred Valley for 3 nights/four days at the beginning of our Sacred Valley/Cuzco travels, and could not have been happier. We stayed in the Brown house, which we found to be extremely comfortable (great beds!), well equipped with everything needed, and truly a "home away from home" feeling. The home and its setting is beautiful -- imagine, soaring ceilings of all windows with stunning gardens and mountains. We were greeted on arrival by Bryan, and pleasantly surprised to find breakfast supplies, coffee, snacks, fresh fruit, and beer and wine waiting available for us (especially appreciated as we arrived at 9:00am after an early morning flight in from Lima.) Bryan was the epitome of a wonderful host -- he was readily available for any needs or questions we had, while also giving us space and privacy. He went out of his way to ensure that we truly had a holiday and in a way was ready to "tailor make" it to what we were looking for -- including drivers/taxis to take us to Pisac, Moray and Maras, and Ollantaytambo; a horseback ride through the nearby fields and villages up to a waterfall (the ride was lovely); and a massage therapist who came to the house. The woman who looked after the house (Elli) was also wonderful; it was such a pleasure to come back to an immaculately cleaned home, and one night she even made dinner for us at our request -- again, a treat to come home after the end of a long but great day of exploring to have a beautiful meal prepared and waiting for us. The location of the home was also ideal for us: convenient for exploring the sites of the valley while being off the beaten track -- with the exception of a wonderful café within a 5 minute walk. A unique combination. Our daughters (ages 7 and 8) absolutely loved the house, the garden, and all that it had to offer. Our only regret is that we didn't stay for longer! Thank you for making the start of our holiday such a great one!

Absolutely Splendid Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Green House Villas for the better part of a week during our Peruvian getaway, and we were so happy we did. Bryan and Gabriel were incredibly helpful beginning with initial trip preparations and until the day we checked out. The property itself is really something special - stunning views, gorgeous landscaped gardens and easy access to both nature and the town. The houses are fully-equipped with everything you need to feel comfortable, and are thoughtfully designed and decorated. Bryan and Gabriel will stock the fridge and pantry with anything you need in advance, and will make delicious meals on site should you request it. They have a lovely woman who comes to clean the house each day. It is a quick walk over to their cafe, Viva Peru, which is a great spot for coffee/tea, a light bite, and cozy conversation or reading in the sun. You can easily catch the public bus at the end of the road, and travel the length of the valley for next to nothing. We are so grateful we found this spot, and will definitely be back on our next trip!

Best accommodations in the Sacred Valley

  • 5 of 5

The Green House Villas were by far one of the best choices we made during our trip to Peru. I was traveling in a group of 6 (2 families, all adults), and the Yellow House was the perfect size. The houses are relatively remote, which is great because you get gorgeous, unobstructed views to the mountains. But it's only a quick (3-5 minute) walk to the main street where you can catch a bus or cab to local towns. The entire property is gorgeous and spacious. The three houses are situated and landscaped in such a way that it feels like each has its own sense of private space.

Bryan and Gabriel were amazing hosts, and were extremely helpful in planning our day trip to Machu Picchu and offering alternative local activities for other days. Bryan stopped by almost every day to check up on things and answer any questions. They organized a driver (Juvenal) to pick us up from Cusco and take us to the Villas (and back), as well as drove us early the next morning to catch the train to Machu Picchu. Juvenal was friendly and accommodating (let us stop in Pisac to see other ruins and get lunch).

If you have time, I highly recommend checking out Gabriel's cafe, Viva Peru, which is great for afternoon tea/coffee! Beautifully decorated and great to relax and sit by the cozy fire.

I cannot reiterate enough how fabulous our stay was, I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.
