Overview

About the property

A private guesthouse

Set on a 2.5 acre estate, this Sonoran guest house is separate from the main house with it's own private drive and entrance. Plenty of large windows let the desert sun shine on beautiful tile floors and custom kitchen.

The Casita is priced weekly. Weekly rates vary from $400 in the Summer to $600 in the Winter months.

Enjoy quiet afternoons poolside or in the hot tub located just outside your front door; or fire up the gas grill and dine on the patio.

Guest Interaction

We are available by text and telephone as necessary. We respect the privacy of our guests and want to insure your comfort. The main house has it's own driveway, and is very much set apart from the guest house.

The Neighborhood

Casas Adobes is a quiet residential neighborhood located in NW Tucson just off the Oracle/Ina intersection. Meandering streets and gentle hills make a great place to walk or jog. 3 blocks to shopping, casual and fine dining, coffee shops - even a Whole Foods!

Getting around

There is plenty of room to park on the private driveway that runs behind the Casita. The property is about 25 minutes from Tucson International Airport.

Mixed experience, but on the whole positive

  • 3 of 5

The studio casita (essentially one room with kitchen, bed, and a bathroom) is quite attractive, and very tastefully decorated. The fresh flowers, that lasted through our week-long stay, were an especially nice touch. The location is convenient to major roads (Oracle and Ina Roads) and grocery shopping and restaurants, not far from Arizona highway I-10. It is a separate and private unit with a lovely yard (including a swimming pool and sauna), and the yard is nicely landscaped.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay, but we had a few problems that could be easily corrected.

1) We entered the address in my smartphone GPS and it took us to what looked like the right road, but to an address that was clearly not correct. Somehow I mistakenly substituted Dr (for Drive) with Rd (for Road). The correct address ends in "drive" not "road". That was disconcerting at then end of a long drive; the directions could easily be amended to include that caution..

2) When we entered the casita, it undoubtedly had been recently cleaned, perhaps earlier that day, and we knew it instantly because of the extremely strong odor of cleaner (perhaps it was Lysol, which I find particularly unpleasant.) We immediately opened all the windows, and left them open throug the night which did improve the situation, but the scent was still there throughout our entire stay, particularly noticeable when the casita had been closed up during the day. Perhaps the person who cleans the casita could use a different cleaning agent.

3) I believe there may be an outdoor light over the casita door, but we could never find a switch inside that activated it. Perhaps there was a burnt out bulb, but some instructions on light switches for outdoor lights might be useful for guests.

4) The kitchen is well equipped with good quality plates, bowls, silverware, pots and pans, and most common kitchen tools. There is a high cupboard for the cups, bowls, plates and glasses, but neither of us was tall enough to reach the items above the first shelf. A step stool, that could be easily stored in the clothes closet would solve that problem nicely.

I write these comments not to discourage staying at the casita, ideal for one person and comfortable for two == especially if they sleep and rise at the same time -- but to suggest some simple ways that our stay, at least, might have more fully met our expectations.

adequate for a week

  • 3 of 5

We found the Casita to be sufficient for a weekly stay. The bed was comfortable which is very important to us. Lots of hooks to hang things is a big plus. There is no dishwasher, thus the dishes and table service are not sanitized. We even found some of the dishes and silverware with food stuck on them so washed things before we used them. The kitchen chairs are hard for sitting of any length and there is not a good sitting area for relaxing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Most disappointing to learn - especially since we pay to have the Casita professionally cleaned. Sorry for your inconvenience.

Good for the low price

  • 3 of 5

It worked fine for our stay. A little dated but fine for the price.

Intimate Stay

  • 4 of 5

Quaint casita with everything you need to use as a base camp for exploring Tucson and surrounding region.

I did not sleep well because every time the refrigerator kicked on, it woke me up. We could not get the DVD player to work.

We did not use the hot tub. The covered porch was fun to sit under while it rained. Great for the price.

IT WAS PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent Spring Break in The Casita this year. The property is very well maintained and the owner was very accommodating. The property location was great, easy to get to, and in a nice quiet neighborhood close to grocery stores and restaurants. We walked to a place called The Parrish one evening and had a fabulous Southern meal, but most of the time we enjoyed preparing our own snacks and meals by the pool. The quiet, privacy of the Casita was the perfect place for us to return to at the end of each day's adventure. The pool is not heated, and we were very early in the season, so it was chilly, but refreshing. We did not use the hot tub as there is a very large soaking tub in the Casita. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a cozy place to relax after exploring the beautiful Tucson area!

Great Stay at the Casita

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Casita. It had everything we needed for our two week stay. Lou was very prompt and helpful with the issues we brought to his attention. The location was perfect in a quiet, secluded neighborhood yet near main roads and necessary shopping. We were able to play golf at several local courses and did a bit of sightseeing in the Catalina Mountains, all of which were near by. The hot tub was a real pleasure after busy days.
