Our 900 sq ft cabin has 1 queen bedroom and 1 bath on the first floor along with a queen pullout sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need...except groceries and the cook. The deck has a swing to sit on and watch the ducks go by as you drink your morning coffee. The 2nd floor has 2 queen rooms and 1 bath. There is a balcony off one of the upstairs rooms with a beautiful view of the mountain where wildlife is seen often. Our cabin is located in a very quiet area where you can fall asleep listening to the river. The river is a few feet away, and you can almost fish from the deck. Our cabin sleeps 8.
All bedrooms feature BRAND NEW Pillow-Top mattresses with Low-Profile Box Springs.
We live in the Texas panhandle and cherish the time we spend with family in Red River.
Don Rice purchased this cabin in 2009
We bought this cabin after coming to Red River all of our lives. When we were young, our grandparents would always drag us around looking at cabins; however, they never bought one even though they dreamed of it. We decided in 2008 it was finally time for our family to own a little piece of paradise. After looking, we purchased this cabin because of its location...right on the river. Since then, we have made many wonderful memories here.
The location is perfect...the river is right out the front door. It is located within the city limits, so we have the benefit of being in town plus the benefit of all of the wildlife coming to get a drink....it is the perfect place to waste precious time!
We've stayed in Red River for our vacation before, but this cabin is a totally different experience! The cabin is larger than it looks on the outside and we all fit comfortably. The cabin was warm, clean and the kitchen well stocked with utensils, pots, pans and everything we needed for our stay. The mattresses were comfortable and the beds were solid. It was nice having DirecTV available for the kids at the end of the day and the cabin is 5 minutes from the ski lodge, so we just had to load up and drive around the corner. Totally awesome! Management plowed the drive for us both days it snowed and we were able to enter and exit parking fine during the 16" dump without a problem. We all had a blast sitting on the porch, playing in the snow and skiing at the resort. Wish we could have stayed longer......next time we will. I would definitely recommend this cabin to everyone! Thanks to Don and and the management team for making our ski vacation one to remember.
We had a blast in the little cabin on the Red River. My sister caought a fish, it was a full moon. We ate out the food was great!
People where nice and would love ot return in the summer time.
Thanks so very much for making my mothers 85th Birthday a day to remember,
Cabin #2 was in good condition upon our arrival. Everything was provided to cook full meal minus your groceries! A/C had trouble keeping upstairs as cool as we would like, but spent most of our time outdoors and cracked the window at night. Which kept it plenty cool. Furniture in living room was not that comfortable but again we spent most of our time outside. Overall we had a great time! Looking forward to coming back!
Very clean and right on the river. Beds were VERY Comfortable all 3 Beds. Had trouble with TV upstairs. Got it fixed 2nd Day. Could not believe there was NO INTERNET. Really this is 2016. I work out of my home so it was not good for me at all. Had to go into town to get on Internet to do my work so we decided to leave a day early.
There were 7 of us in town for the Memorial Day motorcycle rally and shared this cabin. We found the cabin to be nice, clean and had plenty of room for our group. The cabin backs right up to the river which was nice and is just a 10-15 minute walk into town which we did a couple of times.
I was very disappointed with our stay, most of the cabin was acceptable. Their were not any blankets for the sleeper sofa, luckily I brought one from home. Bathroom on second floor needs to be repaired. We had to stick our hand into the tank in order to flush the toilet, the chain kept coming disconnected. If these items can be repaired and the cabin swept behind furniture to would be a nice cabin.
The town of Red River is a quaint little town located in the heart of the Carson National Forest. Our cabin sits right on the river where you can almost fish from the front porch or feed the ducks. At night, the sound of the river is most relaxing and wildlife is seen often. Red River boasts many activities: hiking trails, 4-wheeler trails, horseback riding, fly fishing (in the river, at numerous lakes, and at the community fishing ponds), disc golf at Mallette Park or ride the lift up to the top of the mountain where there is also a course, ride go-carts, rent mini-cars, and numerous activities for all ages in the summer every day at the Community House. Shopping is unique...everyone walks. If your timing is right (2 days a week), you will get to see an Old Time Gunfight at Frye's Old Town. There are many great restaurants ranging from steaks, burgers, Italian food, and Mexican food. There is also a grocery store in case you would like to grill out by the river. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding are always a hit. Snow mobile tours are also available. Throughout the ski season, the torchlight parade comes down the face of the mountain. The Visitors Center located on Main Street always has a list of activities in the area. So whether you're going for some serious trout fishing or just some R&R, we would love to share our cabin with you where our motto is, 'Welcome to the perfect place to waste precious time.'
