Jason first moved to the Nantahala river gorge in 2001 it was there he met Kara. In 2005 they finished construction on their house, and in 2006 Kara relocated full time to NC. They have lived year round in Bryson City since 2006 until recently when they relocated just down the road to Asheville. They both have spent countless hours on the rivers and trails in the area and have a deep connection to the area.
Jason McClure purchased this house in 2005

We had a great time here in your home, its beautiful! So close to so many activities, we enjoyed many of them. We hope to come back soon, thank you!
We have stayed at this wonderfully appointed home three times is the past two years. It is impeccably maintained. The home is ideal for two couples or families with full baths, bedrooms and sitting areas on each level. The kitchen is well laid out and the washer and dryer work very well. We most enjoy sitting on the back deck and visiting. You feel like you are completely removed from any bustle and are alone in the woods while still being super close to so many activities whether you want to: hike, paddle, gem mine, mountain bike or zip line.
It was a very spacious, beautiful house. There was plenty of room. Jason was always available by phone or email to help. The lodge and pool area is a bit more campy than resortish, but my family had fun swimming in the pool and we did not have any problems getting in. We had 2 young boys and it was great with kids. We would recommend this place.
We had a great time staying in your home. The home was clean and we had everything we needed. I felt reassured because I knew the owner lived in the area, but we had no need to call. The layout was perfect for all of us - we, the grandparents stayed downstairs with a private living area, private bath and bedroom. Only suggestion here is maybe check the stopper on the sink and maybe add a small lamp in the bedroom. We loved this area. Upstairs were the parents and the two granddaughters. Everyone loved their quarters!! Beds were comfortable. Having a washer and dryer available was awesome. The kitchen had everything we wanted to fix meals. We did eat almost every meal at the house since we were all exhausted after the day's activities. The horseback riding was fantastic, train ride wonderful and the river tubbing challenging and fun!! My son-in-law brought his boat up and put it in a wet slip in Lake Fontana. That was maybe a 5 minute drive from the house. So convenient because after dinner we could heard to the lake for an evening cruise. One of the best lakes we have been on. The house was in a perfect area!! We were minutes from horseback riding and very close to Bryson City and the Indian Reservation. We were everywhere!!! Thanks so much for opening your home for us!! We would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The house was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed, comfortable beds, and close to the locations we were going to visit. Having two separate areas for watching television made it relaxing for the adults to be in one place while the children were downstairs. Of course the children were thrilled to have WI-FI, as kids today can't do without their electronics! Thank you for sharing your beautifully decorated, comfortable home with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this house. When we flipped the light switch on Friday night we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the interior was. The pictures don't do it justice! You really feel away from it all in the woods, but in a minute or less you are back to the main road. Then from there it's a very short drive to the NOC or to Tsali. It's the perfect location if you are wanting to paddle the Nantahala and ride Tsali. Also, we recommended going to Cork and Bean in Bryson City. We went for breakfast and had to go back for dinner it was so good! If you are looking for a lovely, clean, comfortable, and private home that is still close to everything, you have found it here. Can't wait to go back!!
