Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday farmhouse in Danby - Holland Farmhouse

Ask us about a rate for full Winter Ski Season Rental!! Tucked away on a quiet lane, this quintessential farmhouse is surrounded by panoramic mountain views with a front porch perfect for sipping coffee and relaxing. Holland House is an authentic 1800's historic cape sited on a sun-filled four acre lot. To complete this idyllic setting, this mini-farm has a post and beam multi-level barn, potting shed, chicken house and wood shed. The house is surrounded by perennial gardens, apple and maple trees, berries, stone walls and graceful lawns.

There are five bedrooms and two baths that can accommodate up to eight guests. The hub of the house is a spacious renovated and fully-stocked eat-in kitchen with slate countertops and a restored wood cook stove that flows into a family room with a Rumford style fireplace.

The setting is ideal for a family retreat with rolling lawns for bocce, croquet, or volleyball. It is also the perfect writer's retreat with many cozy spots for inspiration. The night sky is spectacular and in June the fields are lit by fireflies.

The house is one mile from the town of Danby with a small country store and several swimming holes. This rural road is perfect for strolls or runs. This quaint town is under ten miles from the Vermont Horse Show in the summer and easily accessible to area mountains such as Bromley, Stratton, Okemo and Killington in the winter.

There is much to do in the area including fine restaurants, designer outlet shopping, Orvis fishing, the Southern Vermont Art Center, world-class golf, excellent summer theatre, and pastoral hikes. Nearby Emerald Lake State Park offers a beautiful lake for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. We are a short drive to AT and Long Trail.

A reduced monthly rate is available upon request.

Classic Well cared for Vermont Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

The week between Christmas and New Years, I was looking for a classic farmhouse in Vermont that my family of 5 plus my parents from Cleveland could enjoy as a family vacation. This farmhouse far out exceeded all of our expectations. It is loveling cared for and very clean. It was like stepping back in time to the 1800s but with all the modern conveniences. We had everything that we needed and we could relax, play games, have roaring fires in the stone hearth and cook together in the modern kitchen. We were also able to easily get out everyday and enjoy the Green Mountains area. We drove 20 minutes to the lovely village of Manchester, went to the Vermont Country Store and skied and snowboard at Okemo. I would highly recommend this classic farmhouse for your next Vermont vacation. Perry, the owner, answered every question and was extremely helpful. We have Vemont family memories that we will all treasure.

The Perfect Thanksgiving

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this quintessential Vermont farmhouse. We spent a week touring the mountains and the fall colours were amazing! The house was tidy and clean upon our arrival and we settled in very quickly. Our dogs expecially enjoyed the front porch! The kitchen functioned extremely well as we were cooking for a crowd but bathrooms could use a bit of an update. The bedrooms are light and airy and having two living rooms meant that we could hang out and play games and watch TV or sit by the fire with a glass of wine. The house is within close proximity to the general store and is a scenic drive to Manchester along 7A, this house is perfectly suited for a family gathering or a quiet retreat.

Thank you Perry, Laurie and Terry for a memorable Thanksgiving.

Ideal Summer Vermont Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

What an absolutely friendly and charming place to stay. The house has ample bedrooms, sitting rooms (perfect for yoga) and a beautiful open concept kitchen/dining/living room with a large fire place. We were a large group of writers (with spouses) that needed places to perch and write. The whole property (yes there is a typical New England red barn to the back) was really inspirational. The amateur chefs among us found the kitchen to be roomy and the granite kitchen island became a gathering spot for morning coffee... the porch a perfect place for cocktails in the evening! I would recommend this place for any group that may want a working vacation, a retreat, or a family gathering away from home. We were there in the late summer, but I bet it would be great for a winter sport retreat.

Peaceful, Comfortable, Farmhouse Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our working retreat. The bedrooms are set up with plenty of privacy, there are two living areas, and the kitchen is great for those who like to cook. The grounds are private, with a wonderful patio, easy access to farmer's markets, and it is a short drive to the AT Long Trail. The owners, Laurie + Perry, were so helpful in setting up our unusual requests with the barn. Would recommend it highly for families and groups. Look forward to going back again.
