1940's Cabin in a forest setting

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Rustic 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin w/ screened in porch, fireplace, and lovely yard.

As you pull up to the Cabin, you will see it is surrounded by greenery. That is, of course, if you pull up in Spring/Summer. Fall/Winter might be a different description. For now, it is spring and we are surrounded by lilacs, apple trees, cedars, cypress, pines, maples, & aspens and this is all in the front yard! There is a long driveway with ample parking, a brick patio with outdoor seating, and a screened in porch leading you to the front door. Once inside this 1940's gem, you will feel the rustic charm and warmth. Extra large living room with open stenciled beam ceiling, brick fireplace, and plenty of seating. The kitchen has a farmhouse sink, butcher block counters and an original O'Keefe & Merritt stove. Dining room is off of the kitchen and has an antique hutch and pantry. First bedroom is off of the living room and has a full size bed. There is a full bath and a 1/2 bath with laundry. Upstairs in the loft is the second bedroom with 2 twin beds. This cabin offers all of the comforts of home. It is walking distance to Moonridge Coffee, Shops and restaurants.

About Gisele Plouffe

We grew up going to Big Bear Lake as children to escape the city of Los Angeles craziness. I fell in love with it and knew I would always own a home here. Skiing is one of my passions and having a home here is a dream come true. I have other VRBO property's in Los Angeles, listing numbers 470124 & 488436, if you would like to read our reviews there. We love being able to share this special place with special people.

Why Gisele Plouffe chose Big Bear Lake

This cabin is situated in a walking friendly neighborhood for all seasons. Sometimes you want to take a walk in the snow, many parts of Big Bear are steep windy roads. This area is flat and great for family walks. One can walk to coffee, shops and restaurants. It is also great for outdoor entertaining as there is plenty of usable yard space. The cabin itself has all of the character of 1940, while yet having all modern amenity's.

What makes this cabin unique

We bought this cabin as a fixer, that was bright blue and surrounded by chain link fence! It has come a long way! It is our home away from home when we want to get out of the City. We have fantastic neighbors, some of whom you may meet walking their dogs. My favorite room is the screened in porch. Lovely for all seasons!

Charming hideaway in the forest

  • 5 of 5

This lovely cabin is everything stated in the overview. The place is adorable and comfy and transports you back in time. The place is furnished such that it feels like going home to grandmas. We really felt welcome and at home. My husband and I sat outside on the swing in the garden for most of our stay. We watched robins and jays, squirrel and chipmunk and butterflies. We didn't want to leave, so we started with coffee on the swing in the morning and wine on the swing at night. The quiet was so needed. What a wonderful recharge. Many thanks to our hosts. We will be back.

There are not enough words to express our experience staying in this cozy 1940's Cabin. We chose the place for one reason, but there are many reasons why we would rebook. I personally wanted a place my granddaughters could experience the outdoors and not be scared of the critters. They loved waking up and stepping outside and counting the blue jay birds, laughed at our spilled garbage with a raccoon feeding, and numerous squirrels, and trying to find the pinecones. It as nice taking a ride the village and having picnics on the lake. Gisele the owner and contact person is incredible! Easy to reach and knows how to make a place feel like a home. Thank-you!!!! Terry and family
