Our Private Wood Cabin is nestled in the woods with its own private driveway and creek. It has all of the modern amenities and luxuries of modern day living, and is nice and cozy for up to 5 people. There is one private bedroom, and a loft area that both have queen beds, as well a gigantic couch with a chaise. All of the furnishings and inside of the cabin are brand new, and ready for guests!
The cabin is located approximately 10 miles from Smith Mountain Lake by car, and a couple minutes walk to the Pigg River for some Bass fishing (although you will have to bring your own pole).
We are situated on our own 12 acres that is attached to over 180 acres of untouched forest, so usually is plenty of wildlife and beautiful scenery no matter what time of year you visit.
If you want to get away from it all, sit back, relax, and enjoy nature, this is the cabin for you! We are always available if you have any questions.

This cabin was the centerpiece of the exact vacation we had been looking for. I must admit I did panic and pack the kids iPads but they never even asked for them! My two little WV boys are definitely outdoorsman and they adored the creek on the property! Although we took an approx. 30 min. drive to SML St Park (which we also loved) my little family would have been content to not leave the cabin property! We caught plenty of fish right there in the creek! We did make it to the Pigg River but I don't feel we found the best spot there, although my husband caught several fish! The cabin's furnishings were very comfortable and we found all the proper cooking utensils we needed to make a few scrumptious summer feasts (produce we brought from our own garden at home but saw plenty of beautiful produce for sale even at gas stations!) We visited Pino's Pizza in Chatham and it was lovely. My kids say it was their favorite vacation ever taken by far and I must agree, with my own maiden trip to SML some 18 yrs ago right in the running. We are even talking about buying property! We thoroughly enjoyed the property. Do be prepared to come into close contact with some wildlife, which doesn't faze us. But watch your garbage!! Raccoons took a good look through ours! Also found some bear scat along the creek bank AND much to my husband's glee what he is was pretty sure was a panther's track at the Pigg River, esp after talking to locals about sightings. My husband has hunted from eastern Canada all the way through each state to Florida and the elusive panther is one animal he has never seen. But not to worry, no sign of tracks anywhere near the cabin site! Hope that doesn't scare anyone, we are just a nature loving family and as far as the cabin itself we only saw deer and raccoon and a bunny. Great early morning walking. We loved the fire pit. Only a few cons, like a cheap full length mirror would be nice & we did feel a tad more light cleaning was necessary upon arrival but it was very cozy and nice decor. And not sure if I overlooked it in listing but my mom has rheumatoid arthritis & the steps are a little steep. Just something to consider if a health problem would impair walking steep steps. My mom did just fine and said she loved it so much she would stay there again. Overall, I still give it a 5 star rating. And Michele the owner made my last minute booking so easy! Oh! And I tried out both beds the first two nights but the couch is the real winner!
I wanted to start off by thanking the owners for opening up their cabin for us to use, and that it was way more than we expected out of a cabin in the woods. I don't think the pictures in the listing do the cabin any justice. It's very nicely furnished and has ample room for a 1 bedroom + 1 loft bedroom. The couch in the living room is really comfortable. It's definitely off the beaten path and out in the woods, which is just what we were looking for. We brought our dogs along and they really enjoyed running around like crazy up and down the driveway and woods around the cabin. There are nice TVs in the cabin with satellite service, which was way more than enough for watching football games and everything. Cell phone service is lacking, which we thought was a good thing. We found C&E's restaurant just up the road, which had some awesome comfort type of food. That place was great as well, and we really enjoyed having that close to the cabin for a quick place to grab some food.
The only thing that I'd say about the location is to not expect a ton of provided entertainment around the area. Bring your own. Games, some food, drinks, and maybe a book or two.
We would definitely go back in a heartbeat. The owners were great and responsive. You can't beat it for the money if you're traveling as a couple or small family, looking for a relaxing place to stay at for a long weekend. Also, we liked that they are pet friendly (for a very small and reasonable fee). The dogs also thank the owners for letting them stay there. They were worn out by the end of it.
Our family really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was affordable and very peaceful. Your in the woods so watch for ticks. The beds were very comfortable.
We loved our stay at this cabin. It was very peaceful and relaxing . Would highly recommend to friends and family.
