Overview

About the property

2 bedroom contemporary cottage with hot tub on 5 acres of ocean front views

THE VIEWS DO NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS! This photo was taken from the dining room table one evening. We recently have been watching the Whales from the same dining room table. The commanding views are breathtaking, whether from the home, the hot tub, or walking along the beach or picnicking on the bluff. Watch the ocean transform from sunrise to sunset, with the Lost Coast framing the horizon. Enjoy a romantic or family stay in our contemporary home on 5 ocean-front acres. In the evenings enjoy the glass-front wood burning stove, or watch the stars and listen to the ocean from the comfort of the hot tub. Walk along the many beaches stretching along the Ocean, and enjoy the tidal pools, seals and vistas. The property shares the private beach shown in the photo, and has it's own private cove, accessible at low tide and known for the sea glass to be found in its sands.

The seaside village of Westport is only a half mile away, and makes for a pleasant walk. There is a small store in the adjoining campground with essentials, and a quaint store in the village. We are comfortably far from shopping malls and fast food, and very close to the ocean waves and the stars.

Visit us on Facebook at The Cottage at Sweet Cove.

Oh, and did I mention that the views are great from the hot tub?

Why Dan chose Westport

It takes my breath away every time I look out at the Pacific Ocean surf rolling into the miles of California coast visible from the cottage windows. I would love to share this with you.

What makes this house unique

Peaceful setting, with incredible views of the interplay of ocean and light from dawn to sunset. Walk for miles at low tide through the pristine Nothern beaches past acres of tidepools. When the surf is up, watch from the bluff top, hot tub or dining room table as the ocean sings its song.

This is a NON SMOKING house.

Wonderful Home To Kick Back And Relax In

  • 5 of 5

Our experience with this little cottage was wonderful from start to finish.

Dan, the owner, was excellent in his communication, providing clear instructions/rules/guidelines for us to review before the actual dates of our stay. Once we arrived, everything was as described in the information provided, which made getting settled in straight-foward and hiccup-free.

We knew the house was on the coast and by the beach, so we expected spectacular views from the property. What we weren't ready for were the spectacular views from INSIDE the house from the moment you open the front door. That initial moment pretty much set the tone for the rest of the stay. The house was very cozy and had all the basics you would need. The property itself is pretty expansive, with wonderful views to be taken in from the coastal bluffs ON the property. For those with pets as we did, the house itself has a small picket fence to help keep your furry friends corralled while you were on the deck grilling up lunch/dinner or using the hot tub.

The only complaint we had upon leaving was that we didn't have more nights to stay. We are most certainly looking forward to this experience again!

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

It’s a nice affordable place for a vacation near Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The beds were comfortable, shower and hot tub worked perfectly, kitchen had everything I needed to make easy meals for the family.

The house located is right on the road to the camp ground so there is always a little bit of traffic near the house but it really didn’t bother us too much. The great ocean view out of the kitchen window was a big plus and also, we had a wonderful firework show right from the comfort of our house as we stayed there for the 4th of July and enjoyed the fireworks from the camp grounds.

As a dog owners we were happy to have a fenced yard and so the dogs could enjoy the outdoor without a leash.

Overall, it’s good place to have a family vacation and enjoy the Mendocino coast.

Beautiful views, charming cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage home was great for our family of six to explore the Northern California coast and recharge from the pace of our busy lives. Not having cell service was glorious! I know others have complained about the traffic and it was busy on Saturday but we live in a busy area so one day of that wasn't a big deal. The peaceful walks on the bluff and beach more than made up for it. Everything we needed was in the home. Cooking was pleasant as a mirror reflected a view of the ocean. Doing dishes by hand together overlooking the ocean was a bonding experience too. We enjoyed games and puzzles and the spa. Dan was great to work with giving suggestions and quick responses. Thanks for a memorable vacation.

Incredible views and accommodating owner!

  • 5 of 5

The views from this property were absolutely gorgeous! The beds were very comfortable, and there were plenty of bath and beach towels. The hot tub was very relaxing after a day of deep sea fishing. We were visiting family members who were staying at the nearby camp site, so we had most of our meals there and did not use the kitchen much for cooking but it was well stocked with necessary cookware, utensils, and appliances (but no dishwasher). There is no washer and dryer in the house, but the campground laundry room was close by and convenient to use. When we first arrived, the WiFi was not working and the owner fixed it right away so we could use it as needed, which was not often since we were either out having fun or relaxing at the house. Our planned departure travel was adversely affected by Amtrak cancelling our train trip and the owner was very helpful and accommodating with our need to change our plans. Thank you, Dan!

I would definitely recommend this rental, and would stay there again in the future.

Possibly my favorite place in the whole world!

  • 5 of 5

I stay in vacation homes in this same area every summer. Nothing compares to this spot! The property is indescribable. I'm going back next summer and most likely many more summers after that. I don't feel the need to stay anywhere else. You can not get any better than this. Everything was more than perfect!

What a great property. The cottage has both ocean and mountains!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful sunsets every night. Wildflowers are all around you. The area is mowed leading you to a few different places to enjoy the views at the picnic table or chairs. The house is stocked well with what we needed to prepare our meals such as cooking utensils, pans, dishes... We did purchase a medical chair for the tub and left it there for future visitors if needed. That’s not something most people think about unless you need it. The beach access from the campground is a nice place for walking and looking for treasures. Dan was very responsive to our questions when we needed something during our visit. The location was really good for getting to the redwoods which was #1 on my list. I would recommend Sweet Cove Cottage to my friends and family.
