Open the front door and walk into a roomy bright great room with a high ceilings, The floors in this remodeled little 2 bedroom gem are made of maple. The rocking chairs on the porch invite guests to spend the lazy days of summer looking at all the lovely gardens and mature maple trees in the neighborhood. The first bedroom has twin beds, the second bedroom a queen bed and a queen sofa hide-away is also available. The cottage feeling of the house is accented with white wicker. There is a charcoal grill and wifi. A short walk takes you downtown to shops, restaurants, a grocery store, bakery, bowling alley and the marina.
Very nice home and close to everything in Northport. Our only suggestion would be to add a bigger coffee pot.
This was a beautiful property! Clean, spacious and Mary Lou was a pleasure to work with! When coming back to the area, we will be callin Mary Lou again!
Cute, clean and comfy.
Easy access to everything in Northport and Leelanau County.
The house was very cute and clean! It was perfect for our weekend getaway and just enough room for 2 couples and 2 kids. The house is in a great location, close to downtown Northport which seems to be growing every year. Would recommend to anyone with a small family coming to visit.
This is the type of place you can really relax and fall in love with. Mary Lou was communicative and very easy to work with, and her place "The Maples" was wonderful. I came with a buddy for a friend's wedding for a long weekend and I highly recommend the area. Lots of things to talk about:
Location. Surprisingly convenient spot in a county that is full of things to do. House is a block and a half away from the main "strip" so there is privacy from the hubbub. You're very close to the water and little park, with a playground and beach, well maintained and again within arm's reach so take a stroll, go for a run, whatever! You'll probably have a rental car (you should definitely get one to get around this entire county) and there are several other places, Fishtown, Traverse City, Sutton Bay, all really nice, and plenty of wineries, breweries, and cider farms within a short, beautiful drive. There's a really nice 9-hole golf course a few blocks away as well. Take in the local food - farm to table is the real deal here.
The house itself is great - huge amount of space when you walk in to the open concept living area/dining area/kitchen. Kitchen is large with plenty of counterspace. You can really spread out here and entertain. You can do just that with the numerous DVDs, board games, books, and CDs that are available to use. The two bedrooms are sizeable and very clean and the bathroom was as well. The living room couch is a pull out and there were plenty of extra sheets and blankets (it does get a little chilly at night).
The Town. This is a cool little town. It's small enough to get one of those, everyone-knows-each-other type of labels. Think of the main part of town as an L shape - you have actually plenty of choices for eating and drinking (Lelu Cafe is right in the middle of everything) and the closest eating establishment is the amazing Barb's Bakery. Everything there is good. Tom's market has everything you need for a stay - pretty much a full supermarket to support whatever you caught that day if you went fishing for instance.
One really interesting thing - the gas station across from the Lelu Cafe is one of the best gas stations ever. No, the gas is the same gas you'll get at any other gas station. This gas station has a little fridge where you can get homemade, fresh, incredibly delicious Indian food. I cannot tell you how much it hit the spot especially as an evening extra meal after hanging out in town.
Very nice, quaint cottage in Northport. Easy to walk to shoreline, bakery, and other eateries. Very clean, well-stocked kitchen and bathroom. Nicely maintained. Overall a nice stay!
Northport is a thriving village with a Farmer's Market each week, a new bowling alley, a golf course, great little shops, restaurants and a bakery.
