Loved our stay here!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house we stayed at in Northport!! We loved that it was so close to downtown (about a one to two block walk). It was very clean and had everything you could need. Lots of towels, toilet paper, pots and pans etc. We packed lots of things this house had that we didn't expect it would. We loved that! Our only slight downside is that there is no central air or air conditioning window unit. It's not bad during the day but one night the house was 80 degrees. They provide fans (which is so appreciated!) but they don't do much when a house gets that hot. My husband and I love to sleep in a cool house, but maybe to some it's not a big deal. We really did love our stay there and that's why we still rate 5 stars!!! We highly recommend!!! We hope to be able to go back someday! Also, Mary the owner of the house is super helpful and always willing to answer any questions. You can't go wrong staying at this house!

Nice home and close to everything.

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home and close to everything in Northport. Our only suggestion would be to add a bigger coffee pot.

Great little family house

  • 5 of 5

The house was very cute and clean! It was perfect for our weekend getaway and just enough room for 2 couples and 2 kids. The house is in a great location, close to downtown Northport which seems to be growing every year. Would recommend to anyone with a small family coming to visit.

Terrific Place

  • 5 of 5

This is the type of place you can really relax and fall in love with. Mary Lou was communicative and very easy to work with, and her place "The Maples" was wonderful. I came with a buddy for a friend's wedding for a long weekend and I highly recommend the area. Lots of things to talk about:

Location. Surprisingly convenient spot in a county that is full of things to do. House is a block and a half away from the main "strip" so there is privacy from the hubbub. You're very close to the water and little park, with a playground and beach, well maintained and again within arm's reach so take a stroll, go for a run, whatever! You'll probably have a rental car (you should definitely get one to get around this entire county) and there are several other places, Fishtown, Traverse City, Sutton Bay, all really nice, and plenty of wineries, breweries, and cider farms within a short, beautiful drive. There's a really nice 9-hole golf course a few blocks away as well. Take in the local food - farm to table is the real deal here.

The house itself is great - huge amount of space when you walk in to the open concept living area/dining area/kitchen. Kitchen is large with plenty of counterspace. You can really spread out here and entertain. You can do just that with the numerous DVDs, board games, books, and CDs that are available to use. The two bedrooms are sizeable and very clean and the bathroom was as well. The living room couch is a pull out and there were plenty of extra sheets and blankets (it does get a little chilly at night).

The Town. This is a cool little town. It's small enough to get one of those, everyone-knows-each-other type of labels. Think of the main part of town as an L shape - you have actually plenty of choices for eating and drinking (Lelu Cafe is right in the middle of everything) and the closest eating establishment is the amazing Barb's Bakery. Everything there is good. Tom's market has everything you need for a stay - pretty much a full supermarket to support whatever you caught that day if you went fishing for instance.

One really interesting thing - the gas station across from the Lelu Cafe is one of the best gas stations ever. No, the gas is the same gas you'll get at any other gas station. This gas station has a little fridge where you can get homemade, fresh, incredibly delicious Indian food. I cannot tell you how much it hit the spot especially as an evening extra meal after hanging out in town.
