Tranquil Garden Casita in Centro

Bedrooms Studio
Property type guest house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Enjoy peace and quiet while nestled in Garden Casita

$925/month Casita. Main house (VRBO#88178) $1997/month

PLEASE READ 'TRAVELER REVIEWS' as that will give you a good idea of what other guests have felt about both the casita as well as the main house and their visit in general. They say far more than I ever could! Also check reviews at VRBO #88178 which is for the Main House as many guests have rented both places together.

*Check in-time is 2:00 PM and check-out time is 11AM but, luggage can be left in covered sala outdoor living area if you arrive early or are leaving late.

The property is situated in Centro and it takes between 10- 15 min. to walk to the heart of town. All of my guests have enjoyed the walk down as it's fascinating to meander on the many and different, small, winding streets while appreciating the flowers cascading from terraces and balconies. Many guests also look forward to the aerobic exercise coming home! However, it’s easy to catch a $2.50 taxi for a 5 minute ride in either direction.

Experience luxury, privacy and quietude in one of the most beautiful gardens in San Miguel and relax after a busy day in the hustle and bustle of town. Both the casita and the main house are within a walled and secure complex and there is a good deal of separation between the two homes guaranteeing privacy.

The casita is charming! It has an open floor plan which echoes the main house in design and décor. Warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors coupled with a most comfortable queen-size bed with pillow-top mattress, mini-kitchen, a beautifully tiled bath with shower, living area, dining nook, and a lovely view of the fountain and year around flowering garden.

For both properties there is high speed wireless internet. Most of my guests have downloaded Skype and can sit outside under the shade of the outdoor living area while listening to the fountain, catching up on emails and having chats with friends at home.

Cable television is available in both homes and there are many movies with Spanish sub-titles (a great way to practice Spanish!) as well as American news stations, etc.

From both homes one enjoys the antique cantara stone fountain, lush lawn, flowering garden and vine covered high walls which surround the property. Each has its own front porch which face the lovely and most comfortable outside living area which has a dining area, and comfortable cushioned sofa and table and chairs. This is the perfect place for using your lap-top or simply reading while listening to the fountain. A charcoal barbecue makes it the ideal spot for entertaining and eating outdoors. Above the sala is a very large roof-top garden with a large table with umbrella for morning coffee or watching the sunset in the evenings.

The wonderful housekeeper and gardener live right across the street and keep an eagle's eye on the property. She cleans once a week for the casita and deals with water, trash and oversees all other details. For a small, additional fee she would do your personal laundry when you wish. Her husband is a talented gardener who treats the garden as his own.

There is off-street parking for one large vehicle behind the walls for you or for your friends and additional space in front of the house.

Please there is no smoking inside either home.

It's a lush, fragrant year round retreat.

The main house is a truly a “home” with many exceptional features …. it has sophistication and charm, but is also warm and cozy due to the unique bamboo and wood beam ceilings, warm terracotta walls and polished tile floors. It has one very large master bedroom with fire place as well as a combination den/bedroom. There is a very large bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs.

The first floor is an open floor plan with a lipstick red kitchen which looks out onto the garden and the casita in the distance. There is a dining room/living room combination and a half bath. Naturally, the fireplace is the focal point especially on nippy evenings.

Upstairs the master bedroom is amazingly large with fireplace and again the high ceilings with the bamboo and wood beams which make it cozy as well as elegant. The custom-made queen size bed with its delicious pillow-top mattress guarantees a good night’s sleep. The den/bedroom with a twin bed is just off the large dressing room from the master bedroom.

The adjoining bathroom is quite a luxury due to its large size, beautiful tile work and the fact that there is a lot of natural light from a window looking out onto the garden. It includes both a shower and extra long bath. Women certainly appreciate and take notice when they see it ...we ladies like light and this bathroom has it as well as lots of counter and drawer space. Off the dressing area, there is an office/bed combination for an additional guest or child. The room is full of brilliant colors and overlooks the garden and fountain. Going outside from this room there is a washer/dryer. From that point, there are stairs leading to the crow’s nest terrace with a spectacular view of the Parorquia, city and surrounding countryside.

Keywords: Charming garden house with casita within secure vine covered walls. Enjoy peace and beauty at home while the heart beat of the town's plaza is only a 15 min. walk. Maid Service and gardener.

About Sabrina O'Jack

I would like to share a bit about myself in relationship to my home. I had been a frequent visitor to San Miguel and each time I returned, I felt more and more drawn to the town and the people. Finally, I decided to rent for a year and decide if I wanted to make a move and experience a dramatic change of life style.

Like you, I found this property on VRBO and I rented it for a year, but since it was sight unseen, I had great trepidation as I approached the entrance. However, once I unlocked the door I knew that the only way I would ever move from this house was being carried out feet first!!!! Thankfully, the former owners decided to sell and I've been happy there ever since. Normally, I rent out the casita while I live in the main house, but now and then I'm required to return to my other beautiful town of Carmel, California and then I rent out my main house as well.

I never like my home to be vacant because I think it is such a gracious and beautiful spot that I want to share it with others. If it's not rented, I invite my close friends as my guests for a couple weeks vacation.

I have found that over the years, I have met the most wonderful guests and many of them have become dear friends. I consider myself a very fortunate lady for having taken the risk and made the move to San Miguel de Allende! It's been an ongoing adventure! I hope you will also be a guest and enjoy it as I have.

We loved staying in this wonderful casita!

  • 5 of 5

It was a delight coming "home" to it after a day of exploring the fascinating streets and shops of San Miguel. It was cool, tranquil and inviting. We would sit out in the sala, put our feet up and have a cool drink while we relaxed. The owner, Sabrina, was beyond wonderful, and we intend to keep her in our lives as a friend, now that we have bought our own home in the vicinity of hers.

Owner's Response: Oh you two wonderful people! Thanks for such a nice review. It was a real treat for me to have you not only as guests, but now we are practically neighbors and we certainly became good friends. Your lives seemed to be magical while you were here and I loved hearing of each day's latest good news! Buying a house isn't normally as easy as it was for you. We'll be seeing lots of each other ... down the road! Sabrina

Lovely Place

  • 4 of 5

This casita is perfect for a stay in San Miguel. Well furnished and so comfortable. The courtyard is a secluded garden. There 9 days and it was easy throughout. The on property staff can do laundry for a small fee. It is close to the central part of SMA. A cab ride there was about $2,10 US. Would highly recommend this garden apartment.

A Delightful Stay in Beautiful Surroundings

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of getting to stay in this Beautiful and Intimate Casita. It was very quiet and serene except for the wonderful sound of a bird or two singing while they sipped out of the trickling water feature. Some mornings I would pop my head out the door, while enjoying my freshly brewed coffee just in time to watch the dance of the beautiful butterflies floating and darting near the beautiful blooming bouganvillas, geraniums, lavender; just to name a few. It is truly magical setting and so relaxing. Inside my casita, there was all the conveniences needed to make sure I was comfortable. I especially liked the very cozy bed. If there is anything lacking or that you think you might need, just ask the caretakers , Luz and her husband. They will immediately fulfill your desires , if they possibly can. It was truly a joy to get the privilege to stay in this precious casita surrounded by the tranquil beautiful gardens. I truly missed it the moment I left and I would definitely go back for another wonderful stay!

Owner's Response: Hey Sandy ... I'm so happy you enjoyed the garden and its attendant birds and butterflies as much as I do. As fun as it is to be in town, it's awfully good to return home and be surrounded by nature. Please do return! I look forward to our meeting next time you are in town and am glad you will be making San Miguel your home once again Sabrina

Charming casita with beautiful garden and terrace

  • 5 of 5

It was sheer joy. A little piece of paradise. Beautiful windows and doors designed to make the most of the views of the well-maintained, lush garden. High quality handmade dinnerware: using them was a treat. Stairs lead to a terrace with nice views all around. Beautiful handmade tiles in all the walking areas. A shaded outdoor courtyard to relax. Sabrina really enjoys taking care of her guests. She was not in Mexico when we visited for two weeks but she stayed on top of things with phone calls and emails. Oh...the welcome package of fresh fruits (bananas, mangoes, guavas, kiwifruit and apples) and the fresh flowers were very welcome after a long day of travelling.

Casita Hermosa!

  • 5 of 5

If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the center but yet close enough to everything this is the home!

Peaceful and tranquil you will be awaken to the sound of the most incredible exotic birds. I stayed in the 1 bedroom casita the house is clean, charming and best of all safe. Beautiful landscaping grounds with a cozy patio area to enjoy. Sabrina goes beyond to make your trip and stay the best it can be. She is attentive and knows every of her guest by their name she even welcomes you with fresh flowers and fresh fruit upon arrival what more can anyone ask for. Thank you Sabrina and Luz you are amazing!

Owner's Response: Oh Lourdes, that is such a sweet review of the casita and I am happy that you felt the peace and tranquility of being away from the town's activity while at the same time being close by. I will tell Luz that you thanked her as that will please her greatly. She enjoyed talking with the two of you. I hope you return! Sabrina

Beyond expectations!

  • 5 of 5

I have been coming to SMdeA for many years and have rented numerous properties. This is the loveliest...by far...of any place I have stayed. It is Gorgeous! Very well appointed. I would not hesitate to recommend the casita to anyone. The bowl of fresh fruit and bag of gourmet coffee that was included was an added bonus. The courtyard is so serene and beautiful. You also get plenty of exercise walking up the hill. A taxi ride is only $2.00 anywhere in town so if you don't feel like walking, hail a cab.
