Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Aitkin - Rabbit Lake Retreat

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

East Rabbit Lake Retreat

Come experience beautiful and serene East Rabbit Lake and the premier vacation hotspot of the Brainerd Lakes area. Rabbit Retreat is located 10 minutes from the towns of Crosby and Aitkin, and 20 minutes from the cities of Brainerd and Crosslake. The lake has a unique history of being without water for over 40 years during the Crosby area mining days, but today we enjoy crystal clear water with a deep hole of 370 feet. The 640 acre lake is amazingly private and is attached to the more developed West Rabbit Lake through a short boat channel. Our guest apartment was built in 2012 and is equipped with a Tempure-pedic queen bed, all new kitchen appliances, new washer and dryer, Direct TV, CenturyLink internet, tiled shower, and a forced air heating and cooling system. Outside accommodations include a small porch, patio area with table and swivel chairs, a charcoal grill, a fire pit with its own wood pile, your own dock with chairs and, lake access. To enrich your stay here we offer the use of a 14 foot fishing boat with motor, a canoe, several kayaks, swim raft, two bikes, paddle board, and snow shoes . We are only a few miles from the Mississippi River, area mining pit lakes, the nationally known Cuyuna mountain bike State Recreation area, and snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snow shoeing right out the front door. Come be a part of the Brainerd Lakes area and all it has to offer, while experiencing the wealth of seasons Minnesota is known for.

About Rad Royer

My wife and I fell in love with the 4 ½ acre lake property with its 300 feet of lake shore seven years ago and have been steadily building and transforming it. We lived in this 800 sq. ft. apartment, built in the middle of our property, until we moved into our completed home on the other end of our acreage. We recently decided to share the quiet and beauty of our Rabbit Lake experience with its wildlife, birds, fish, and all the Brainerd Lakes area has to offer with you, through VRBO. We offer you rest and relaxation, Direct TV, CenturyLink internet, a small reading library and DVD collection, a fully equipped unit (check out all that is included on our inventory list), the opportunity to tackle area trails, many 5K to marathon length, hiking, golf, biking, fishing, casual to gourmet dining, and so on. Winter activities are plentiful, as well. Downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and snowshoeing, to name a few. Come join us in a place that we call “our piece of paradise.”

Very clean and private location getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this property. Easy driving distance to all the shops, bike trails and the lake! We were able to use the small boat, grill and fire wood that was provided, it was great to just get out and see the lake. Property owner was very gracious and we would definitely come back!

Fantastic place to stay and great hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to find a quiet place to have a nice fishing trip over a couple of days. We chose this location mainly because there was a fishing boat with a motor included, but it more than surpassed our expectations! Rad and his wife are extremely hospitable and very helpful! Rad more than once asked if we wanted to go mountain biking with him on the Cayuga trails and was sincerely friendly towards us. We felt very welcome and wanted at this location! Would recommend any time!

Fishing-wise, we caught a lot of bass and perch, but the pike and walleye were elusive - probably chalk that up to skill level!

Great place to get away!!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for a long weekend and it was everything we could have hoped it would be. Access to our "own" little dock, kayaks, canoe, etc. was so great. Rad also provided us with a ton of information in regards to fishing on Rabbit Lake, bike trails in the area, restaurants in the area, and the like. Overall a great experience and we'd absolutely consider coming back and recommend it to anyone who want to enjoy time at the lake!

Fantastic stay! Couldn't have been better!

  • 5 of 5

We (two dads from San Diego) dropped our kids off at the nearby hockey camp in Heartland and had an absolutely great week. The cabin was clean, well maintained and had everything we could possibly have needed (full size washer and dryer even had detergent and static sheets). The bed and the futon are both very comfortable to sleep in. The air conditioning is quiet and kept the house very comfortable. We had to do some work while we were there and the internet was fast and reliable. The fishing was great, we caught a lot of bass (some right off the swim platform), but the walleye and pikes eluded us (most likely our skill level). You have your own dock and swim platform, a canoe, kayak, john boat with motor and even a stand up paddle board if you want to give it a try. Rad and his wife Tina were gracious hosts and made us feel very welcome from the get go. I can't say enough about the hospitality they provided. Rad tried to get us to go biking a couple of times, but he couldn't drag us off the lake (not a lot of fresh water in San Diego). Plenty of good restaurants in the area. Everyone we met was really nice and friendly. Needed to stay about three weeks instead of just the one. Will definitely come back and stay here again even if I have to borrow someone else's kid to drop off at hockey camp.

Rad is so accommodating and hospitable. We really enjoyed and appreciated the use of the kayaks, fishing boat, and bikes. The property is beautiful, and located on a clean lake. Also not far from the bike trails.

We highly recommend this rental.
