About the property

Permit 2013-184.

The Highland Sage Guest House is located in historic downtown on a sunny corner lot. The home offers an open living and dining room, two bedrooms with queen beds, additional day beds, and historic character throughout. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped to make a multi-course meal or a simple smoothie. The bathroom includes a restored cast iron tub, and the home is cooled by a swamp cooler, providing for easeful sleep on hot Summer nights.

The backyard offers a patio open to 10th Street with a grill and family-size table. Adjacent to the courtyard is a historic garage providing off-street parking.

When you arrive, you will have a combination to enter the home. I live within a few blocks so will be available to help as much as needed or leave you in privacy per your preference.

In addition to downtown and Main Avenue, the Nature Trail leading to Fort Lewis Collage and panoramic views of Durango is one block away. The Highland Sage Guest House offers an ideal combination of proximity to downtown, historic character, spaciousness, and a front porch and courtyard both facing friendly neighborhood streets.

If you don't see that dates you are looking for please check both of my rentals in historic downtown.

Walkable Downtown Durango

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I, plus her dog, stayed for 4 nights in this great bungalow house. If you love old houses, this is the place. The front porch is great for coffee in the mornings and the breeze in the evenings. The common areas feel large, although the kitchen is a bit cramped for more than one cook, but it is very well equipped. The fridge and stove are newer, as are the washer/dryer, and the owners do make good use of the space. The house is three blocks from central downtown so made walking around town easy, as well as quick access to major streets by car. The owner is great and communicated better than any other rental I've used. This is a great old house and I would highly recommend this rental.

Highland Sage was the perfect place to stay during our visit to Durango. It's in a great location, close to town, and we loved being so close to the "Sky Steps" for a morning workout. It is well stocked, and very clean. Victoria was extremely helpful and always replied immediately to any questions I had. An extra bonus was there were bikes in the garage that we were able to use.

Thank you Victoria, we look forward to returning next year!

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

What an exceptional place for a mountain getaway. We loved Highland Sage! Everything was as pictured, clean and well kept. The home was a quick walk to downtown, which was a great plus for our family of 4. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Cozy home in great location!

  • 5 of 5

This home is about a 5 minute walk from Main Ave in Downtown Durango. The listing says 2 bedroom, 1 bath; however, there is a third room with 2 twin beds (2 queens and 2 twins). Our party had 4 adults and a baby - this place was perfect! The home is older but clean and updated on the inside. The owner, Victoria was easily accessible and willing to help. There were labels throughout the home to make extra towels, linens, etc. easy to find.
