The Highland Sage Guest House is located in historic downtown on a sunny corner lot. The home offers an open living and dining room, two bedrooms with queen beds, additional day beds, and historic character throughout. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped to make a multi-course meal or a simple smoothie. The bathroom includes a restored cast iron tub, and the home is cooled by a swamp cooler, providing for easeful sleep on hot Summer nights.

The backyard offers a patio open to 10th Street with a grill and family-size table. Adjacent to the courtyard is a historic garage providing off-street parking.

When you arrive, you will have a combination to enter the home. I live within a few blocks so will be available to help as much as needed or leave you in privacy per your preference.

In addition to downtown and Main Avenue, the Nature Trail leading to Fort Lewis Collage and panoramic views of Durango is one block away. The Highland Sage Guest House offers an ideal combination of proximity to downtown, historic character, spaciousness, and a front porch and courtyard both facing friendly neighborhood streets.

About Victoria Schmitt

I moved to Durango in 2005 and work as a civil engineer for the local county. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and have since lived in Arizona and Colorado, with some time spent in West Africa and Southeast Asia. In Durango I have been involved with the Durango Dharma Center and the Durango Independent Film Festival.

Outside of work and the vacation rental, I also enjoy biking, camping, reading, and hiking, especially with my 11-year old dogs, Neutron and Kozmo.

Cozy, comfortable, and close to downtown.

My daughter and I stayed at the Highland Sage house for a week in September and loved it. The owner Victoria was friendly and very helpful. The house is within walking distance to downtown and hiking trails. My son lives in Durango and was able to spend a night or two with us because of the extra beds. Everything was clean and the whole house was very cozy and comfortable.

We will definitely stay here during our next trip to the beautiful town of Durango.

Cozy Charming Cottage

This cozy, beautifully decorated home is bright and cheerful with a well kept yard in a wonderful neighborhood close to downtown. It is well appointed with modern appliances, a great layout of bedrooms to give every guest privacy, and very comfortable beds with cozy down comforters. It has every amenity you could possibly need! Victoria was more than accommodating and responsive to all our requests, including changing our arrival date at the last minute. We appreciated her attention to detail which made for a great weekend stay in Durango.

Highland Sage- Durango

The property was located close to downtown, easy walk to many fun restaurants. Close to bike trails. The home was extremely well equipped with many amenities I was not expecting, even spices in the cabinets and grilling equipment such as skewers for kabobs. The beds were comfortable, plenty of blankets, towels etc. Nice outside patio area with table/chairs, gas grill. Quiet neighborhood. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Location.

Highland Sage 5th Avenue Charm

Very charming and open feeling bungalow! Clean up to date bedding and towels. Kitchen had all we needed.

Loved gathering on the back patio to have our meals. Nice easy stroll to downtown shopping and dining. Hope to return sooner than later! Thank you!

Minimum of 5-night rentals may be made at anytime. Two-night rentals are available within 30 days of check-in. Festival weekends may be booked with a minimum 3-night stay or a small increase in nightly rate.

Vehicles must be parked in garage, which is historic and suitable for standard-size vehicles only. Oversized vehicles cannot be accommodated.

Payment is typically made in full at the time of booking for simplicity, but may be split into two with the second half due 30 days prior to arrival.

Cancellation policy is the same regardless of payment schedule, with 75% of the total rental cost refundable when 30 days or more notice is provided. Within 30 days of check-in, no refunds are given. As booking a vacation home is unique from standard hotel lodging with respect to cancellation, trip insurance may be a good investment to cover unforeseen circumstances.
